After so many tries, i decided to give up ...the reason: the college don't want to accept extra payment..sad.gif

So you've given up to be in the running for Longines? biggrin.gif

I am making a big purchase very soon, but too bad I found out that the merchant doesn't accept Amex.

I spent >RM8k over the Merdeka Hols. I just couldn't wait till 1st September to swipe the card; guess I won't be getting the Longines. I did also just swipe RM10k today but I'm not sure if I still am within the 1st 100 or not!

Ah well... at least I know I probably get the Delsey bag if I don't get the Longines watch. Not like it's v nice anyways tongue.gif

At least you can swipe using Amex and your situation is much better than mine. I actually wanted to make a big purchase amounting to 40k, but the merchant did not accept Amex. It seems that I have no choice as I MUST make the payment within the next couple of days.

I think it is not too late this month, as
most people just came back from holidays and Merdeka Sale was just over. But you have to compete with the above forummer. Good luck! smile.gif

@winner,
Ah well.. the numerous times I had to make large payments; I too wasn't able to use my Amex so well, live with it or go make that purchase elsewhere tongue.gif And at the v least, U can still use some other CC to collect points or something *smiles*

@arsenal,
I ain't too sure but if it's something U gotta spend, Y not just TRY; worst scenario U don't win anything but at least U benefit from the 2x points biggrin.gif

PS: I just realised the Delsey bag is for the 1st 1,500 people who spends >RM8k for the entire duration period. Ah well.. I guess I probably don't qualify for that then *siGh*

I reached the 8k mark towards the end of August as well, guess I would miss the boat for the first 1.5k ppl.
Not gonna bother bout the watch since I don't spend that much every month.

As tinkerbell said, worse case scenario is you only get the 2x points =) But don't go spend on unnecessary stuff just bcoz of the contest though laugh.gif

And like you, I had to spend another large amount just before September. Was in Tokyo, swiped a fair bit with my Amex.

But I was due to leave on 31st anyways, so obviously I couldn't throw it to the next month. laugh.gif

@ellimist,
Tokyo?! Now that sure is nice *grins* Ah well.. like I said if we don't win at least we benefit from the 2x points smile.gif

@thyceult,
Er.. it wasn't much of a shopping spree; I was there to get mom a watch and was between the Omega & Tag but sis liked the Tag so we got both. Dad still thinks we're presenting the Tag to mom not knowing it's gonna be an Omega *grins*

And well.... before U make another proposal, I'd better warn U I'm apparently pretty high maintenance tongue.gif

Aaah,

I see, I see. It's rather filial and nice of you to be getting nothing short of the best for your family. That's good to know. A smile on the face of our parents just makes it seem all the more worthwhile, even if it comes from a gift.

As they say, good stuff comes with a fair price! wink.gif Thanks for humoring me this afternoon, princess. Hope you are keeping well and it's nice to run into each other again on this sub-forum (as opposed to the usual talks on advertising and whatnot under Jobs and Careers)

ellimist is also right. You're definitely keeping yourself very well I might add. In fact, so much so that perhaps you can help sponsor my love for dice. I'm a geek at heart haha.

@ellimist,
That sure was a nice compliment *smiles* Ah well... it's good to have someone who's willing to pay the bills; and until that happens I guess I've no choice but to maintain it on me own *siGh*

@thyceult,
Yeah I don't usually stinge on the family but I'm getting pretty broke now *gulps* plus I've just resigned [and without a job too!] so need to be a little more careful with my spending from now. Hm.. so we have bumped into each other @ Jobs & Careers huh?! Sorry but the nick doesn't seem to ring a bell *oopS* and if U wanna keep bumping into me, go ahead - most people know where I lurk @ LYN biggrin.gif

Love for dice?! Er.. from the way you say it, dice can apparently cost quite a bit huh?! smile.gif

Ah,

Sorry to hear that tinkerbel. Eh, what happened? Why did you resign? I have always figured that you were pretty much the industrial senior/expert and hanging in there but this revelation definitely comes as a surprise to me. I was not expecting it. I trust that given your world of experience you should have a comfortable nest egg to tide you over the next few months.

Yes, we've met a number of times over at the Jobs and Careers section in terms of replies on the same subject but we never really did direct the conversation to each other. The name's Jesse, a pleasure to meet you! No worries, I'd be worried if a moderator actually remembers my nick! *gulp*

Hahah... yep, no worries, I prefer the mysterious approach and bump into you by chance happy.gif. Keeps things fresh that way.

Anyhows, argh.. you've caught me there. A rather sharp one eh? Yes, dice are a huge wallet-based sin. To account for the fetish, I try to keep it down to one purchase per year or so. Just to treat myself to it. I try to avoid the really fanciful pieces that involve gold or platinum though heh.

I'm surprised you know about dice? Know of someone that uses/collect them as well?

Since I froze my SCB Just1 into cold storage early last month, I don't have many choices now. My Alliance alone isn't great enough, given that the 1.375% cash back is limited to a total spending of up RM5k per month only. As the amount I'm gonna spend is huge, I wanna get at least 2x points but I'm kinda disappointed that Amex is not accepted by the merchant. Nevertheless, I still have to make the purchase tomorrow using other CCs. Or else, the "item" will be grabbed other people.

Amex's admin fee on currency conversion is among the highest. However, it won't be an issue if it is on company's expenses. And at the same time, getting 2x points while being reimbursed by company is simply great.

Sorry for such stupid question. I downloaded the application form from AMEX malaysia website but there is no mention as to where to send the form to. Not even a telephone or fax number on the form. And I don't fancy a Maybank AMEX. Now what?

I used it for personal use. Yea, I'm aware their admin fee is the highest, but charge card gives me the peace of mind since there's no limit. Plus I prefer to make purchases using my main card where possible.

The amount has appeared on my statement. Does that include admin fee already? Or admin fee appears as a seperate charge in the statement later on? If inclusive, wasn't too big a difference from the transaction where I used my CC instead.

This is one of the FAQ in M2U:

How do i apply for an American Express® Gold Credit Card?

You may walk into any Maybank branch nationwide to fill up an application form, or call 603-22958877 for personal assistance. Alternativelty, you could also visit these websites to print out an application form: www.americanexpress.com.my or Maybank2u.com.

But I don't want a Maybank AMEX. And as I said, there are no instruction/address/phone number on the application form itself as to where to send the completed application to.
