Canada at it one time got it own telco equipment called Nortel, but thanks to the management that prioritize stock price over R&D, the end fate is not hard to predict. i know bell and telus are big players. my guess is smaller players tend to use Huawei & ZTE as they don't have the big barjet like their big player counterparts, as they are serving rural area where less revenue can be generated. as in the case of USA. Federal Government have to subsidize the replacement cost, which is cut the nose to spike the face. Which ever that float the boat of these unhinged governments.
Transceiver? that mean you are on FTTH? biggrin.gif

Yep, FTTH and it was Bell.

cool, fiber is good, but only available in city with high rise apartment. the cost of running fiber on landed homes is unimaginable. lol hmm.gif that is why in EM, always suggest to get FWA, if the 5G speed is good, I tested UM in EM, speed is faster than unifi yet the price is cheaper somemore with unlimited internet. laugh.gif

This agreement is one sided one....  So scared with those Chinese vendors.... They said about backdoor holes & security reasons....

Those Western one don't have backdoor holes security issues????  Sure got one... CIA or so is monitoring....
*
I also said before, sure got backdoor one. Impossible they do not monitor their network equipment and who uses it.

Anybody using UM Ultra 5G & YES 5G Advanced? What are the speeds you are getting for either one? My house area currently have both, and I am also using both (UMobile on my phone, Yes on my 5G modem router). Although my YES line is already on 5G SA, speed seems underwhelming esp during peak hours, only getting somewhere around 60-80++Mbps, while Umobile can easily reach up to 230MBps during peak hours.

Yup 👍 now DNB 5G barely touching 100mbps
Sometimes CelcomDigi 4G+ performs better.

Early did 5G Speed test same location as UM 5G gets 40mbps on 5G LOL

Probably another Blade AAU. Not active, the AAU part that is.

Man. If only U Mobile would activate n78 and B28 from this site. Would smoke DNB which is incredibly oversold here.

UM going to surpass many Telcos in 5G network
Celcomdigi Maxis loyal users stuck with rubbish 5G by DNB
Better Govt drop DNB let telcos build and activate their own 5G. 5G really worst in covered places

5G SA implementation (via Galaxy A06 5G updated to Android 16/One UI 8, Yes Power 35 plan)

Well the calls will no longer drop to 4G, because it natively supported VoNR calls. Interestingly, the status bar will still show "VoLTE" rather than "Vo5G" or "VoNR".

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

"5G" speed test when I lock to N28 only - very similar to 4G+ speeds, anyhow.

But it is better than the existing reception of Yes 4G at my home - if I used on devices that support 5G SA, it won't need to connect to Yes 4G network anymore - better reception in my house. I used 300Mbps fibre internet at home, anyway - speed is not a concern for me, but 5G congestion itself, is very real in my area.

Attached Image Attached Image

I have a Yes prepaid SIM, to test if it is able to connect to 5G SA (locked to 5G only), no luck here, it just "fall" to U Mobile 5G (Yes clearly said prepaid services does not support 5G SA yet). My postpaid SIM does connect to 5G SA (when I purposely lock to 5G bands only).

I can access Yes 5G Advanced (5G SA), on off peak hours 5G speeds are on around 60+ Mbps if I lock to 5G N28 only, speed is better if both bands are used (N28+78), around 420Mbps. Haven't test it on peak time yet, but I expect it to be very slow due to congestion in my area.

My 5G modem router has the ability to lock to either 5G SA, 5G NSA or Auto. Currently left it at auto, so no 4G bands being utilized now. Shoudl I change it back to 5G NSA instead?

Also. SA is locked on Maxis to specific business plans. No idea about CD.

if not DNB who else then? DNB2 just started this year, so very few area got served under DNB2. for now you can assume cheap plan aka prepaid are using NSA. SA is full fledged 5G, only high price postpaid will get SA. biggrin.gif

You can try and see, if there is any router settings that can allow you to lock to N78, if you can do so, try locking to N78 first - it is known that locking to N78 will improve the performance (maybe slightly).

All test done on Samsung Galaxy A06 5G on 5G SA mode (Android 16/One UI 8.0), with 5G SA capable plan (Yes Power 35).

Yes 5G SA (N28 only, peak)

Attached Image

Yes 5G SA (N28 + N78 - aka default - peak)

The speed is as I expected, disappointing.

Real benefit - network will always stay at 5G, even with phone calls. Also, better 5G coverage (because it combined both low and mid band 5G, it doesn't need 4G - 5G signal actually goes further than NSA only - 5G NSA exclusively use N78 + B28 anchor before dropping to 4G when signal is weak, while 5G SA use N28 + N78 - which N28 provide extended range). The signal no longer drops to 4G, on a weak 5G area.
Maybe slightly more internet speed (5G CA mode, I think speed should be similar with existing 5G NSA).

SA won't fix congestion unfortunately.
