just got my olax g5018 two weeks ago. using yes ft5g prepaid. so far so good can get 300mbps+ stable. no random reboot, wifi penetration quite good, my house 26*75 double storey almost all corner can get signal. modem placed at ground floor in the middle. 5g signal is about 2/5 only because placed indoor & in the middle of the house. tested with my neighbour's parabolic antenna can easily get double the speed 600mbps+. super easy to lock band & it won't fall back to 4g. luckily I don't go for x50 5g that can't even lock band. haha. super satisfied spending rm700+ for this router on last 7.7 sale.

but many users of x50 5g reported in several thread, if that area 5g kinda weak it will auto fall back to 4g even tho u already force it to 5g bands. maybe ur area 5g kinda strong.

Hi guys, I have the Arcadyan AW1000 bought earlier this year running Goldenorb openwrt from 2023, speed test on 2.4ghz wifi and 5ghz wifi respectively yields only 30mbps and 200mbps.

when using Nokia Fastmile same position could go up to 400+ mbps.

any idea what could be the issue?

on the contrary, mine performed better with manual settings to 5G ( band, cell lock, carrier, network mode etc). Never got disconnected or dropped connection with stable speed average 350Mbps

Telstra Arcadyan AWS1000 going for only RM528 on Lapsapda with free choice of QWRT or Sopek firmware offered by seller with invite link to a private group.

This customized OpenWRT firmware is very useful if you know what you're doing.

Wow so cheap too bad I bought CP502 and it's not as good as AW1000 I had tested both

Some firmware "lock band" logic is different
Even when u lock bank to b28 and n78 it is actually still a 4G 5G combination since it's NSA not SA
So in some case when u set to 5G only it try to go just n78 u won't get a signal
And if auto it got a chance to go 4g b28 or 5g b28+n78
It just depends on how the software is written

hmm, earlier in multiple places i keep saying TP-Link X50-5G cannot lock band. Actually can, just troublesome need to scan signal then choose the band to lock. The scanning is lousy and not always working. After successful scanning and choosing the band to lock, the page may just hang there after clicking save. Anyhow it is now locking on 5G and not simply down to 4G as it likes before.

Other modems have full band list for people to tick/untick which is straight forward, but this TPLink method is really stupid.

Hello guys,

My situation currently, have a warehouse in a shoplot in Prai area (Im in KL), confirm have strong 5G signal and speed now, last checked last week.

Internet connection required for CCTV and minor office pc work only. Unifi says monthly usage under 30GB only.

Been paying for unifi 136.xx for 2 years, contract ending this month.

Thinking of moving to 5G wireless now to cut costs. Currently looking at Deco x50 5G to pair with YES of UHome5G.

Question, does any other modem have deco's app like feature that i can remotely login to see uptime/users logged in info?

I personally use deco ecosystem at home so im familiar with it.

remote monitoring only possible if you have the correct information on hand. You will need the public IP address, as well as the port number, to be able to log into your router network from a distance.
long story short for 5g router I think can't be access remotely.

another alternative I can think of is u can connect ur one pc to the router at office. small pc with low power consumption like Intel nuc is better bec even if u swith on 24/7 also the electricity usage very minimal,no need to attach monitor screen. install a remote software like logmein (may incur additional subscription cost). then using ur phone while you're away, remote to ur pc office (use logmein apps for phone), so from there u can access to the 5g router info/usage.

something like a raspberry pi with a software defined network solution like Tailscale should be able to do what you want
just connect to the tailscale network and you can access the router as if you were connected to the network

or... if you get one of those openwrt based ones, there should also be an openwrt tailscale package to save on needing other devices

No longer the case with modern cloud based IP-cams.

I'm running CGNAT 5G at home myself, with 4 remote cams connected to the same mobile app in my phone.

You don't even need a centralized DVR just a small microSD card in each individual cam which could store recordings of more than a week each.

yes for cloud based IP cams no need anymore for fixed IP address. I'm referring to the PC connected to the router. since TS main concern is about to remote to the router for checking the usage.

Cloud IP-cams are also clients connected to the 5G router. It's just that they have build int firmware which connects back to the product's server via your router as gateway so that remotely your phone can also access your cameras outside.

In a DVR setup it's just one device connected to your router as gateway.

For a cloud based IP-Cam, each device connects via DHCP to your router which also works as a gateway.

You don't need public IP or fixed IP anymore because the IP-Cam cloud software (for each camera connected to your router) pings back to the products server to allow your phone which has the surveillance app installed to access your cams from outside.

Here's an example set-up guide video to give you a rough idea:

You can actually DIY your own camera setup with very little knowledge with wiring and

Deco is probably the only mainstream brand with a really robust and reliable app. That's why they are expensive these days.

Nothing even come close in the router world.
