Hey, anyone got that Nokia Fastmile 3 for review? Currently using the basic modem from Yes, ZLT x25 pro. The wifi stability is badddd.

Hiya.

My requirements are for a router to use temporarily for 5g as my new place doesn’t have fibre yet (tentatively planned for Sept-Oct installation). There are towers very close by to my condo with some users from Yes 5G getting 300 mbps. I’d like to pick up a router to use for this wireless 5G and preferably continue to use the router for the fibre connection when I switch to it. My unit is only 950 sqf and two rooms.

Was suggested to get a TP-Link Deco X50 5G (~RM 750). Wondering if there are better alternatives and what should I be looking for. What’s this thing about band locking? Another suggestion was for Huawei 5G CPE Pro2 h122-373.

Thank you.

NO NO NO, X50-5G is lousy, so regret buying this. It CANNOT lock band. It drops to 4G as it likes. 2 days ago new firmware to "Lock Cell" is not working, still drop to 4G. my place 5G 3 bar 200mbps, 4G 1 bar 5mbps, and yet this stupid modem can drop to 4G and will not come back to 5G. All settings to prefer 5G lah, whatever, is not working.

if Budget constrain, can consider ZLT X28 and Fastmile 3, both can lock band.
If want better get Olax G5018 or Telstra AW1000... all can lock band but there are pro and con...
and if very very budget limited, get VN700+ cheap can lock band, but not very good in speed test (due to CPU is IV500).

Earlier they gave zte and kaon. Both telco lock. For zte, you can unlock if you have the unlock code. For kaon you can't unlock because it uses telco customised firmware. No other way unless you change to stock firmware.

Now no more zte (many suffered random reboot), they provide only kaon. Too bad kaon inferior than zte. Can't even disable wifi and the antenna not sensitive as zte. Poor speed.

Update:
They brought back ZTE. Kaon suffered with sim detection.

Additional info. For lock band TPlink X50-5G cannot do, it has band choices but the modem will not follow what we set. Yeacomm NR330 can.
If lock cell, X50 recent firmware has this feature, but to me it is not working, Yeacomm NR330 also cannot.
X50 won't show the cell locking is successful or not, I know it is not working because it still drops to stupidly slow 4G 1 bar for no reason.
NR330 will show lock cell successful, but after that no signal at all, so considered not working.
Lock cell maybe not for NSA? not sure about this.

"Lock cell" is for area with multiple tower coverage
Normal for 4G urban area. There are main tower and repeater tower
some tower poor signal but good speed
People complain poor 4G signal so telco setup repeater

modem always connect to strong signal tower
lock cell to force connected to specific tower

lock band for 5G is to disable telco own 4G band
modem always connect to DNB b28 and nr78

Telstra Arcadyan AWS1000 going for only RM528 on Lapsapda with free choice of QWRT or Sopek firmware offered by seller with invite link to a private group.

This customized OpenWRT firmware is very useful if you know what you're doing.
