QUOTE(syahpian @ Nov 22 2025, 03:42 PM) yup2, upgrade myself through luci before this using sopek myqwrt, they using china version of openwrt, called immortalwrt as base firmware, not sure which version through https://www.sopeksemprit.xyz/as you already knew, the MTK CPU with 7981 chip has only limited openwrt support, mine is factory configured, after they tested and sold as it is, not much support will be provided, but I try to get back to the factory and see if I can get them to provide some tips and support for latest openwrt. lol. means while checking your link now, thanks man.

Is this actually a suitable antenna for a 5G modem? The info provided is quite limited and conflicting based on the pic and description (18 vs 29 dBi / 10W vs 50W) lol

QUOTE(eauyong @ Nov 20 2025, 09:41 PM) It is possible to flash a chip especially the Winbond 8-pin SOIC by the CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer Module + SOIC8 SOP8 Test Clip For EEPROM 93CXX _ 25CXX _ 24CXX _ on board - No need to unsolder. I have done that for a motherboard few years ago but now forgotten already. Still have two programmers, this CH341A and a very old but capable WELLON VP-38B+ bought in 2005 from weilei.com.cn (Windows XP). just open the box. spi is wson-8. and the chip is circle by the aluminum bracket which provide support for high frequency shielding . look at the picture. w25n01gvze1g which is 128MB. thinking of upgrade it to 512MB to run full fledge openwrt. but not confirmed yet. the bracket is solder to the pcb is quite hard to remove. and don't want to mess up. will check with supplier first. Bought the Deco X50 5G recently. Fast speed, strong 5G signal, and better Wi-Fi. My 4G Huawei B618 can finally retire 😄 Can’t go wrong with it This post has been edited by ckh6003: Dec 29 2025, 10:52 PM

Hi Sifus here, I wanna ask a question.
I am using mobile broadband only as my main internet in both my office and home. Yes and U 5g. I have got X50 5g, Fastmile 2 & Gten iq 02x55 as my modem routers. The question I wanna ask is some of these devices have maximum concurrent users set at much lower levels than a home router which usually supports 256 concurrent users.
I have many IoT things and IP cams and the number can easily be close to 100 so is it a good idea to treat my x50 5g/gteniq/fastmile as a modem only (either set to bridge mode or disable DHCP/NAT) and use an external router like a Mikrotik or Asus or Tplink?
Would that give more stability or am I wasting my money? If indeed it is recommended, can you recommend some routers to do the job?
I read: "However, some user reports in community forums suggest a potential software or IP address limitation with the Deco X50-5G model, where users experienced issues connecting more than 10-11 devices. This appears to be an anomaly and not the intended capacity of the hardware. The device's official specifications emphasize its ability to handle a high number of clients in a dense environment."

The modem router claimed to have certain number of dhcp client allowed is due to hardware limitation, the software restrict it to have certain number of allowed dhcp because it would drain the hardware resources of the modem router, aka the CPU load and memory usage if such limitations is not put in place. There is no one stopping you to cram in as much devices you want into the modem router, you will notice when your router turn slow and sluggish, over loading the router, could crash it. Dont trust all the figure thrown out. You need to experience it for your self.
