Was suggested to get a TP-Link Deco X50 5G (~RM 750). Wondering if there are better alternatives and what should I be looking for. What’s this thing about band locking? Another suggestion was for Huawei 5G CPE Pro2 h122-373.
NO NO NO, X50-5G is lousy, so regret buying this. It CANNOT lock band. It drops to 4G as it likes. 2 days ago new firmware to "Lock Cell" is not working, still drop to 4G. my place 5G 3 bar 200mbps, 4G 1 bar 5mbps, and yet this stupid modem can drop to 4G and will not come back to 5G. All settings to prefer 5G lah, whatever, is not working.

Additional info. For lock band TPlink X50-5G cannot do, it has band choices but the modem will not follow what we set. Yeacomm NR330 can.
If lock cell, X50 recent firmware has this feature, but to me it is not working, Yeacomm NR330 also cannot.
X50 won't show the cell locking is successful or not, I know it is not working because it still drops to stupidly slow 4G 1 bar for no reason.
NR330 will show lock cell successful, but after that no signal at all, so considered not working.
Lock cell maybe not for NSA? not sure about this.

hmm, earlier in multiple places i keep saying TP-Link X50-5G cannot lock band. Actually can, just troublesome need to scan signal then choose the band to lock. The scanning is lousy and not always working. After successful scanning and choosing the band to lock, the page may just hang there after clicking save. Anyhow it is now locking on 5G and not simply down to 4G as it likes before.

Other modems have full band list for people to tick/untick which is straight forward, but this TPLink method is really stupid.

My modem is alway green. Is that means alway connected to 4G only?
Are they any setting to connect to 5G. I've lock on band B28, N78

If green yes you are connecting at 4G. When u open the app first page it is shown there.

If you have band lock the B28 & N78, it will stay with 5G.

For the first time it will take some times to scan the available bands. Choose the correct bands to save.
