The funny thing about the way that TM did their "DNS(IP) hijacking" is that it didn't affect the laypeeps who were not using 1111, 8888, 9999, AdGuard, OpenDNS or Cleanbrowsing.

If one was on, say NextDNS, nothing of note has happened.

Digi's and Maxis' port 53 redirection, on the other hand, was much more effective. btw Digi 4G is still redirecting.
*
U Mobile still hijacks well known servers (Cloudflare, Google, Cisco OpenDNS)
Others like Quad9 are unaffected

Celcom (TuneTalk) still has port 53 hijacked entirely

It's a Sunday so I'm still willing to give them some time to undo this...

Yeh, i guess if TM didn't go full on IP hijacking, there'd be less outrage about this transparent DNS stuff.

Being a networking major graduate years back (not really practicing a lot now, currently better trained in IaaS field), I would say what they did was just too low. But no matter how, people with knowledge will still come up with workaround and why are they targeting these people? laugh.gif

Seem like only allow pick up if delivery failed.

I guess it should be same as delivery, just they sent it to TM point instead of your house, who gonna put lot of expensive laptop on TM point. laugh.gif

You should/may visit any TM point for better answer, while take your nice rest for weekend. icon_rolleyes.gif

I think it will be fulfilled by their partner even if you order from TM Point, don't think they keep stocks for gaming laptop

You may try KLCC Unifi store which should be the biggest now

Didn't even realize theres an ip hijack going on since its not obvious without going low level traceroute and whatnot. What got most people furious is the sni ssl mitm hijack and serving bogus cert. Tm did exactly that to both google and cloudflare doh endpoint. And its obvious to end users, browsers displayed a big red warning saying the cert is bogus.

Suddenly people realize if they can do that to the dns endpoint, what stopping them from doing the same to gmail, outlook, riotgames, facebook, tiktok or whatever. Obviously the browsers, email client, games client etc won't accept bogus cert is this day and age, the lingering questions is "what if?". What if they further did X to Y, whats the borderline dangerous according to them if they can't see the danger of mitm ssl. Whole thing just wen't down just like that from single tm action lol

Some isp in other countries already successfully hijacked dns cleartext port 53 for years and no one bat an eye. They do that with enough notice though, a year, a few months to get business prepared. Not here, announced a month before, implement in a rush and see all hell break lose with intermittent downtime, sluggishness and whatnot.

just wanna report here
after the initial reversed dns transparent stuff
the IP range stuck with 60.xx.xxx.xx
turn of 20sec reconnect like 5 times

the pecuilar thing about 60 range
initial connect back speed is 500+ (my current) then after less than a minute twice observed to disc for ~5 secs, then reconnect back and the speed stuck at 97~98mbps
for the 500+ speed only local m,alaysia, singapore starhub gets 90+

finally get 175 range, and seems to be stable for now..... whether speedtest or testmynet

edit:

seems like my own port problem?

could try using cloudflare’s speedtest for actual figures

https://speed.cloudflare.com/

ookla’s would be showing 800/200 for me while cloudflare, figures that reflects how it felt during nightly slow downs

credit to kwss for pointing this out
