Fun fact, even MoH(KKM) know sharing out their own data via github.
https://data.moh.gov.my/

For those 3 guys setup those website in first, I guess they already get a great jobs by just saying: know covidnow? I set it up, hire me? brows.gif

So, what is the name of MCMC again? hmm.gif
---
Still, kind of surprised that they did this, see what Malaysia did in past?

QUOTE
Most countries are issuing biometric passports to their citizens. Malaysia was the first country to issue biometric passports in 1998.[1] By the end of 2008, 60 countries were issuing such passports,[2] which increased to over 150 by mid-2019.[3]
Anyways, there is a famous explain, don't looking a group of peoples as 1 person.

Now MoH is more modern (and open) than MCMC, I am very speechless for such event happening... sweat.gif

Still the same from me, if they really did, why not implement a standard/order to ISP, tell them open the parent control to customer by free.
Just like you can open your unifi mobile app, turn off those feature when you need it to be off.

Even when parent is lacking skill on it, they just need to tick and apply a parent control on app, then ISP kick them to the 1112 or 1113 which also block Adult Content.

Do this, give control to users and promote about it, if they choose not to, it means they know the risk and willing to accept it, anything happen is their own responsibility.

Got, if you are TM related staff, you get special plans, RM 40 only, they sure wait until TM upgrade them to UniFi with this price, but TM might choose to drag the upgrade until them upgrade to RM 89 la. brows.gif

And you know, apartment, just like the signal tower "CAN CAUSE CANCER", so I expected some apartment will be reject to setup fiber on their apartment, for some stupid reason.
Or Kampung that don't have much customer to pulled for? hmm.gif

Here is Malaysia, and TM is a profit company, so overbudget to pulling single fiber for single customer not gonna happen, only problem is how much of them la. tongue.gif

This is not IP blocking like how some ISP block pornhub.
It's straight up BGP hijacking. It's serious.

EDIT:
Imagine all ISP are instructed to perform robbery. Some bring knife, some bring Glock. TM brings Javelin.

Speaking of towers causing cancer. Good thing there's no pushback at my grandma's taman. They have a 5G tower next to the surau there and it's fast as hell.

High chance still got, even in KL. My auntie's apartment in Salak South only got Unifi late 2022 even though newer surrounding apartments/condos already have Unifi.

Lack of knowledge, the weaker the signal, stronger power gonna required from smartphone to reach back the tower.
If they know this, they will be happy to having a tower nearby them, else smartphone gonna higher than tower.

Also, under tower can be safer, because the direction of tower is target for surrounding, not sky, not underground.
And you earn money for renting the top space of your building for tower/small station, which is yummy. laugh.gif
(For China, they even helps on paying your electric bill, lol)
---
Another from my China friend, even got ppl knock on neighbors door, telling each them turn off WiFi, else affect the baby.

Result?
Hidden SSID, a single targeted antenna point and reflect to that unit via windows. laugh.gif
(Also for beamforming, using it also can be increase signal, unsure can causing overpower or not, China allow 1/10 of power than us only. tongue.gif )

Sadly he failed, no result back, so I guess baby is very health as it is, else a monster was born. laugh.gif

Last post then logout, should back to cooldown again, until next stuff coming up.
---
If you follow posts at /k, you will found out artstation also blocked because someone claim copyright over a few projects.
And result?
Whole website banned.

The worst one I ever seen is this.
Hoyoverse created a new game, and they published it, got ISDN similar stuff(means the gov approved this game).
Before the game is online, player get called from 110, telling them they installed this "malware" app, uninstall it ASAP, and even visited by door.
https://www.zhihu.com/question/597390671
https://www.reddit.com/r/China_irl/comments/12x0qtk/

Until today, no result for who caused it, gov(110) resource wasted for an attack from another competitor.
Like I said, double edge sword.

Think about this, 1 hour for tmr 9.9 sale(it is 8 PM today, but example la), lapsapza found a loophole method and make a ban on shosee, every customer can't visit shosee and so, they go buy at lapsapza, profit.
----
Oh yes, I nearly forgot.
Steam is allowed in China, just Steam Community is banned, they allow it by official, because they know ISDN stuff is not great/open enough during that old times.

They even got server online there.
https://steamstat.us/
And you can accelerate/proxy your traffic to reach it.
https://uu.163.com/zt/steam/
Edit: And also for console, yes
https://uu.163.com/console/

So, why Steam still banned/inaccessible in some states?
You better ask who is the competitor of Steam. brows.gif

Double edge sword, please be careful on it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Finally backed down. We can't fix stupidity, but at least we can talk some sense into the stupids. Or even if the sense never penetrate their thick skull, its still due to the sheere amount of backlash they backed down. Well done people.

Must be lobbying from some bigtime invester. Voices from the ordinary man on the street is nothing for them.

QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Sep 8 2024, 12:28 PM)
Well, but you can get your port unplug if you unpaid for such a long time, so it is kind of, temporary solution.
Even me paid bill on time, when going back, I can found out the port unplugged, aiya... sweat.gif
Yes, I agree on using something 1112 to block malware by default, then give a event, like another free speed upgrade or free RM 10 discount.

Those setup their own parent control via DNS get a little benefit, I am sure, this suit the Malaysian most, everyone gonna grab it by learning how to setup a parent control.
Even it don't, as least by default malware is blocked. thumbup.gif
---
So yes, it back to topic, did they did it for protecting from malware, or for control?
*
Maybe if your taman has very little demand with unused port, they don't care. If your place has high demand the moment you terminate someone is gonna take the port.

I recall reading somewhere around 37k streamyx customer as of 2023. Maybe now even less, as most uncle aunties are complaining that TM do not want to repair their copper landline anymore. Either you force to migrate to rm89 unifi to maintain your landline or subscribe their unifi mobile.

Even the White House is concerned about BGP security.

I am unsure about BGP hijacking, but this test resolves BGP correctly for Unifi for IP range 175.*.

you can maintain the landline still if you do not wish to move to Unifi

You can opt for the Wireless Home Phone option, with a 12 month contract and they will give you a "Nanominds WHP-S20"
https://www.nanominds.cc/whp-s20.html

they put a Unifi Mobile SIM into it and your old landline connects up to the VOIP port of it
and it works just like the landline

Appears to be a rebranded ZLT S20 4G LTE Router
http://www.sztozed.com/en/contents/58/85.html

However, all the wifi stuff seems to have been removed/disabled, so it can only be used for VOIP
No internet connection either if you connect up to the LAN port at the back

It's not super great, it likes to randomly lose connection / reboot at times

Sadly, news of the DNS redirection has not sat well with the general public, with many accusing MCMC and the government of trying to increase its level of censorship and, in the defense of the people, their fear isn’t unfounded.

Doubt it. Vast majority oblivious or don't care?

BGP hijacking is the illegitimate takeover of groups of IP addresses by corrupting Internet routing tables

For our case, TM did it "legally" themselves. This is not considered as BGP hijacking.

Unifi's one is gone. Since yesterday when dns.tm.net.my exploded.

Digi 4G's port 53 redirection still in place. Maxis didn't check.

The funny thing about the way that TM did their "DNS(IP) hijacking" is that it didn't affect the laypeeps who were not using 1111, 8888, 9999, AdGuard, OpenDNS or Cleanbrowsing.

If one was on, say NextDNS, nothing of note has happened.

Digi's and Maxis' port 53 redirection, on the other hand, was much more effective. btw Digi 4G is still redirecting.

Hope it is still on as MCMC definitely needs some inputs from experts from industry & community, be it from technical or social impact. wink.gif They could even encourage ISP to roll out automated "family-safe" provisioning of ISP router that performs the same thing with what they did, but on router level, as per customer request. Those who have third party router are tech-savvy enough to use custom DNS server that performs the same thing, leave them alone!
