Wondering if Synology NAS can work behind a private IP?
If not, is it a valid request to TM to demand for a public IP arrangement?
*
Looks like Synology support IPv6.
Just use DDNS and you should be good to go.

https://kb.synology.com/en-my/DSM/tutorial/..._IPv6_supported

Don't buy stuff that only works with IPv4 should be the goal.

If he hasn't changed his forwarding port settings in his router, he should be able to access his CCTV system just as before.

It's possible that NVIDIA is interested in investing in the official Geforce Now service using YES data center infrastructure. I hope so, ehehehe ehehehe.

However, I doubt that TM will upgrade its TM One Cloud Alpha data center from the Huawei platform to the NVIDIA platform; the cost would be too high.
*
Unless he’s also accessing it from local with public IP lol

Yeah I don’t expect they upgrade it, at most just another alliance partner, but I can piggyback off StarHub for now since I’m in JB biggrin.gif

No, if you want external without using VPN, reverse SSH tunnel to any cloud VPS or use IPv6

But if you don’t mind VPN, tailscale, ZeroTier works great

If you don’t have any 2FA, go tailscale, ZeroTier for maximum security

If you do, you can go reverse SSH tunnel or IPv6, but I generally don’t recommend opening your NAS port directly to the internet at large

If you can tackle some tinkering, do reverse proxy with your own DDNS domain to only open 80/443 to the internet at large, downside is you can’t track what IP is accessing your services and all will just show RFC1918 addresses

if i still have about 8 months of contract for my unifi, and my cousin one is also under contract (not sure how many months left), is it still possible for me to transfer my unifi account to her?
*
er.. I am abit confused

since you know 1 address cannot have more than 1x unifi a/c

and your cousin is already with an a/c within contract

how is it possible to transfer yours to her?

As I know, TIME will only serve those new project only. They don't go do for old housing area.
*
no idea but at least we know that for landed coverage vs unifi for entire Msia, TIME is far far behind and they admitted it because there were too many barriers to overcome

Thanks, lots of heavy advice given.

Will take time to learn about it.

Currently the NAS is mainly for backup when I'm back at home.

Also thinking about using the CCTV feature of Synology.

If able to setup and access from outside, can view the CCTV and backing up/accessing files remotely.

You can change the account name to her. One person can have multiple Unifi account provided they are at different addresses.

You can follow the guide here. Use Synology DDNS they will take care of HTTPS certificate for you too.

Your Unifi private IP protects your CCTV system from hackers, but it also means you need a new way to access them remotely. Two options: set up a VPN (secure tunnel to your network) by using a third-party VPN provider that can be set up in your home router or subscribe to a cloud-based CCTV solution (remote viewing and recording). VPN requires tech setup, cloud has fees - choose what best fits your skills and budget.

Some IP addresses in the IP prefix 175.0.0.0/24 are not private. Today, Unifi assigned me a public IP address as an 800 Mbps Unifi user, which is within that prefix. If my IP address is private, I won't be able to access my router and NAS remotely.

I called 100 and complained problem tak selesai.
Now they re-assign 110.x.x.x.

Still same. Sigh.

If I understand you correctly, you can access your CCTV fine when using 4G.
When you said you cannot access with TM Unifi, you mean you cannot access it from the same house as your CCTV right?
If that's the case, your router does not support Hairpin NAT.

As far as TM is concerned, it's not their problem. As far as setup is concerned, you are doing it right.

Maybe use a local IP address when you are at home?

Yup. For ASUS routers, they provide the list of routers that support the NAT loopback feature: https://rog.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1043024

QUOTE
Note2: This feature is only supported when the router's operating mode is set to wireless router mode and is not supported in the following modes

1)  Access Point(AP) mode/AiMesh Router in AP mode
2)  Repeater mode
3)  Media bridge
4) AiMesh Node

memang suruh buat ACCOUNT RECOVERY!

failing that:
(1) contact netflix and ask how do you login when all you have is id such@unifi. is that even a valid login id? and if it is, tell them it's not an email that belongs to you.

(2) ask unifi to delete and create new netflix activation, send to you. again, that id is not even an email, nor it belongs to you. you can't do anything with it.
*
Yeah, I cannot do account recovery as per the picture due to the email not belong to me. TM just call me just now and said I'm the one subscribing that netflix and through UPB. WHAT THE HELL.

I open UPB and open netflix, suddenly already login to an account that I done even know exist. what make it more funny is that the email address is like ttttttttttt@gmail.com.

Even if my son open the app through UPB, how easy it is to register and activate it without even a confirmation through email and SMS to me?

owh.... that makes a potential hazard to wallets.
from that email address pattern, can guess it's somebody malas.
but then, don't we need to activate netflix through email verification before it even charges?

i think you can unsubscribe for now. subscribe anew after a month or 2 under your own control.
or to be safe, use your pre-existing netflix subscription as placeholder in UPB in the meantime.

Yeah, I plan to report to MCMC due to hidden subscription by unifi without customer consent since there is no email or sms to confirm the subscription and that tttttttt@gmail.com is probably not a valid email. TM already charge me 2 month of netflix fees total RM110. gila

But the thing is, I can't access the account page through netflix app in UPB so I don't know how can I terminate the account.

call TM to cancel ala-carte subscription.

in UPB's android app management, clear data+cache to forget existing login. then login using your own to get it under you own control. and don't do it in front of the kids, later they'll repeat.

Ok thanks for the advise. I already called 100 to cancel but still need to wait for them to proceed. It's gonna be tough since no one know the address and whether netflix can simply terminate the account if we only know the email address.

yeah, just get unifi to cancel being a payment method. don't use them again for few months for thing to settle down.

you can just abandon the netflix email account..
it's not like it's valid email that you have access to.
just use your own existing netflix id in UPB to prevent your family from redo the mess again.

• disable unnecessary pre-installed apps where possible, or just sign in to all available app in UPB to prevent.

• to avoid your family from installing additional app into UPB (it have 16GB space wehhh), disable play store app. i did this and my kids cannot install android games as they please, and they can't figure out why only i can make play store working.

OK this makes it clear what's your situation.

For HOUSE A:
Post your DDNS setup and port forwarding setup

For HOUSE B:
Post how you setup your CCTV app

Do both house use the exact same CCTV setup?
