Anyone have issue with the new Unifi TV Box HDMI result in black screen at startup after showing "Unifi Logo" ?

During setup it was working well, I think the tech did some update to the firmware then I did not check again before he left  doh.gif

After that find out the TV box show black screen, startup still have Unifi Logo appear
*
So, it worked once only?

Now, the box has blue light on but blank screen?

If yes n yes, likely same case as mine... box hanged.

Chat online, make report. Technician will come replace the box. No charge as still under warranty.

There's an official thread for Unifi TV and Unifi TV Box in the forum.

Your question will have higher chance to be answered over there since this thread is mainly focus on broadband internet only.

Be careful on what you wish for. Don't forget the current minister is Fahmi. His upgrade may come worse than the Gobind upgrade. tongue.gif

currently 100mbps at RM129. Planned to port to Maxis 300mbps at RM149 with rebate RM100 + free 6m bills. Did my port out request via chat then after few hours received the call for the offer. She said process should take 5 working days. So I cancelled the plan to move to Maxis.
*
Is there any issue when you cancel the port out? like any penalty?

those that swears the spike they saw at start of new speedtest....

... that is normal even before lah.

you are swearing to an uneducated guess that such observation "is due to the pending upgrade". no such relationship.

your transfer buffer is empty so it fills up quite fast. until it hits upper limit and then your device needs to start to FIFO manage the buffer in order for new packets to come in.

sliding window.

Well, easy, we wait until upgrade, if this guessing/observe is correct, then it means we learn something new, else it is nothing la. icon_rolleyes.gif

Guys, recently i mean like just now  sweat.gif  I upgraded to D-link mesh wifi router (DIR-X3060Z)
as im not very good with networking things, Got a few question with this new mesh router
1) Lan port no3 is only for Unifi TV box? cant use for normal internet?
2) Main router connected to BTU, and the mesh at living room, can i connect lan cable to this mesh router?
*
1. Can, change IPTV setting on router, depend on router, some is untick/disable IPTV and tick LAN 3 port on WAN PPPoE, some is chaning IPTV page setting.
2. Yes, u can, it will using that mesh as WiFi adapter that connect to your main router, so u can connect TV or PS5 etc to it, using a hub also can la.

but this and that not related.

it amazes me when people who are VERY concerned about bufferbloat effect on network transfers can misunderstand the very basic concept of buffering throughout network transfer, and then makes wild conjecture "oh, this must be ISP preparing to upgrade our lines"....

Blue light is there.

it only worked once during the technician setup, then he update firmware after that and I forgot to tell him try on that again before sign.

Apparently box wasn't hanged because it still can be switched to standby (where box light turn to orange) I use the RCA cable then it works, but HDMI will have that issue, tried different HDMI including the new one came with the box... all these HDMI cable works well with the older tv box too.

if it works with RCA but not hdmi, possibly there is a problem with the handshake between UPB and TV.

this can be a complex issue as some TVs have more problems with handshakes, CEC, etc.

try different TV HDMI ports too, see if any difference.

It never happens before, at least for me. And as you can see, more and more people are experiencing the "spike" thing at the same time. No doubt, your explanation is correct. But let me ask you 1 question, if this is a normal thing, why now only happens? Most people never have such spike until now.

I am well understand the bufferbloat effect you mentioned about. yes It should be a common thing. But I wonder why I never experience this before? And now it happens to me, especially at this very moment where everyone is hoping for a change. Everything happens for a reason. And I don't think it's just a coincidence.

Of course, my "uneducated" guess could be wrong afterall. But it's not the end. We can see this as an entertainment and we laugh together loh. I know you are tired of Fahmi's empty promises. But there's always a hope. Be optimistic bro. Cheers.

With respect as a person who regularly doing speed test this never happened before. Why sudden bufferbloat after all this while (apologise for lack of definition) I observe my family internet bandwidth usage never change, no additional device.

You maybe right it's probably nothing but given the timing minister announced with TM plan for MSAP it's highly likely all moved in motion simultaneously.

aiyoo abang-abang, kakak-kakak, that sudden uptick at start of transfer is normal laaah.... it does not indicate anything. you can also observe similar uptick when you do file copy in your computer, before transfer buffer/cache are getting filled and speed starts going down.

all my speedtest have that uptick transfer at the start of them laaah...
even the ones i do via mobile. what does that even suggest? that i need to anticipate that my already-uncapped speed is about to get yet another surprise speed upgrade by maxis, digi, and dnb?

if there is anything much more reliable, it is that one forummer had posted this explanation before; our fibre line had always been capable, but ISP put rate limiting that kicks in to cap to your subscribed rate.

damn. to relate a normal network behaviour to a highly-anticipated for-sure-will-happen-network upgrade....

Nothing wrong with doing some speculations correct? At the end of the day, we’re just hoping for something to come out of this.

Yes I do agree that it’s kinda dumb to think spikes like this equates to “ooh free upgrade”

But isn’t the point here just hoping for something good that comes out of MSAP announcement? smile.gif

Considering how badly we’re getting fucked by Malaysia ISP’s upgrade.

If we’re wrong so be it, but if it’s really a sign that they’re upgrading, hey we all benefit. No need to be so uptight about it wink.gif

And side note I have did several speed tests before, I have never seen such a drastic spike at the start of a speed test, even back in the 30Mbps package, most of the time it’s slowly spiking to 30-35 ish and never higher. Especially hiking to such crazy speeds before coming back down even though technically it’s not possible since the GBe port is the bottleneck, but hey, one can only dream of more goodies from TM

Ok ok. You are right bro. Excuse for my naivety. notworthy.gif

But still, I insist on feeling that something good will happen very soon. whistling.gif

Aha. Combined with the rumor about the Unifi SWU3.0 500mbps RM 119. I guess this is the final nail in the coffin. Looks like this will be the MSAP price for 500mbps. Now I guess we just need to wait for Fahmi or TM to announce it.

yes, it's another "uneducated" guess from me. But I can't help with it. It's been a very long time for me to wish for lower price on my internet fee. tongue.gif

Yeah, anyway TIME will tell. By the time Fahmi announces anything concrete, 1 maybe 2 yr contract also over already. sweat.gif

but Time one is 500/500 right? That's where we lose. sad.gif
