Update: For anyone running 1/2Gbps TM Ultra package with D-Link DPN-FX3060V

Currently changed over to Bridged mode and running OPNSense as my main router again.

So you got the router in default with how the installer installed it.

1) Go to setup tab > PON WAN > find Connection_0 on the interface (Namely PPPoE connection)
2) Go to Action - Edit, change protocol from PPPoE to Bridged, other settings you can either keep at default or change, such as QoS etc.
3) Connect LAN 1 to whichever router as WAN and set it up as PPPoE
4) Done, all your traffic is now through your own router rather than TM's D-Link

Note: Leave all the physical assignments and settings as is and don't change it to any mode. Just change from Connection type

All the firewall/port forwarding rules should be ignored on TM's own router and your own router should be taking care of all the forwarding. rclxm9.gif

Is this TM device people have been saying that once set to bridged mode you can't log in anymore to change settings?
*
Yes and no.
Yes being that you changing WAN mode from GPON Router to RG Router/GPON Bridge. And changing to GPON Bridge disables all access to it.
No being that that wasn't the mode that we were supposed to mess with, but changing PON WAN interface_0/connection_0 was the one we were supposed to change to enable us to run it in pure GPON ONU mode instead of AIO router mode.

Currently I have an active 5GHz radio running on it for me to access the GUI if needed, and I can just access with a manual IP setup on my devices. All my connection and routing on router level is all ran by my OPNSense VM.

for 2Gbps subscription, LAN port going to router's WAN is only 1Gbps. Are you able to make your downstream router squeeze all 2Gbps?

That's the reason I didn't go for bridging. I just terminate PPPoE on the ONR, then deal with squeezing 2Gbps from there. Right now able to get up to 1.75Gbps/750Mbps, which i think is bottleneck at local exchange.
*
Aggregate on router side is the only one that I can think of, since the D-Link is only GBe, and that’s the bottleneck since gigabit overhead and whatever. If we want to squeeze out 2Gbps, only way is just with GPON SFP as far as I can tell, or a custom GPON 10G ONU

Chiming in my two cents here.

1gbps here, yesterday been trying to setup bufferbloat countermeasures on my OPNSense router.

Was doing speed test on waveform website, my speed test instantly shot up to about 1200mbps when testing before coming back down to 700-800 sustained, upload test only risen to a peak of 600mbps+.

If this is the case, then maybe SWU 3.0 subscribers all get a free speed upgrade as well?

P/S: This 1gbps plan was signed at the start of Sept approximately and my port is still at 1GBe (Stock D-Link DPN-FX3060V router) no custom 2.5/10G port, or SFP ONU

Will maybe try to run a speed test tonight in the D-Link app to see the sustained speed and see

but this and that not related.

it amazes me when people who are VERY concerned about bufferbloat effect on network transfers can misunderstand the very basic concept of buffering throughout network transfer, and then makes wild conjecture "oh, this must be ISP preparing to upgrade our lines"....
*
Nothing wrong with doing some speculations correct? At the end of the day, we’re just hoping for something to come out of this.

Yes I do agree that it’s kinda dumb to think spikes like this equates to “ooh free upgrade”

But isn’t the point here just hoping for something good that comes out of MSAP announcement? smile.gif

Considering how badly we’re getting fucked by Malaysia ISP’s upgrade.

If we’re wrong so be it, but if it’s really a sign that they’re upgrading, hey we all benefit. No need to be so uptight about it wink.gif

And side note I have did several speed tests before, I have never seen such a drastic spike at the start of a speed test, even back in the 30Mbps package, most of the time it’s slowly spiking to 30-35 ish and never higher. Especially hiking to such crazy speeds before coming back down even though technically it’s not possible since the GBe port is the bottleneck, but hey, one can only dream of more goodies from TM

Hoping for goodies for 1Gbps plan. If not they better not touch the public IP offered and I'll still be happy tongue.gif

Might as well just take UMobile RM68 or Yes RM58 contractless plan.

2 hours the most daily after work before sleep.  laugh.gif
*
So by your words I should still subscribe to either of those plan and cancel my unthrottled 1Gbps plan and hamper my family’s internet surfing experience when there’s not even normal 4G signal?

Literally everytime I see you I just think that you’re some kind of DNB shill/spy sent to infiltrate this thread.

You’re not everyone and not everyone is you. Your use case does not necessarily works with our use case and your use case does not work with us.

Is TM a monopoly? Yes
Are TM prices bad? Undoubtedly
Do we have much choices? Yes and no since HSBB is a thing

If 5G is all the rave, then why the hell are there still ISPs outside of Malaysia that provides >1Gbps connection? Cause nothing still beats internet transmission over physical cable.

And not to mention you expected Malaysia out of every other fucking country to have good cellular connection? Dey our government can’t even provide good cellular connection on the biggest highway in Malaysia. And places like Thailand has full 4G connectivity in the middle of nowhere on a random ass hill.

Until Malaysia has get their 4G signal to that standard, and 5G to >70% and above and doesn’t have FUP, don’t wake me up till then; thanks

those who request public ip from unifi, your ipv6 works?

mine is not after i get the public ip

Firewall is quite straightforward on TM’s own router. Maybe check firewall rules? I have IPv4 + Track interface for IPv6 for mine and so far it’s fine

If 2gbps become 249, I’ll be pissed cuz it hasn’t even been a month since I change to 1Gbps SWU 3.0 :’)

How much are you paying for SWU 1Gbps? Does it come with free 6 months too?
*
269? I think, but only 6 months free billing, no speed upgrade. Unless Fakmi announcement gonna make 1Gbps free upgrade to 2Gbps for everyone on SWU 3.0, which at that point I'll have to get into GPON SFP ONU

Whats 1G SWU price you paying?

Edit: 269, also i would be decently pleased larh, close to what my 800 plan is at rn.
*
Just follow SWU 3.0 pricing posted here before, no speed upgrades, no TV, no streaming and 6 months free billing

Asking those with 1Gbps / 2Gbps plan. What is the real speed you can achieve on gigabit ethernet (1Gbps) PC / laptop port? Can maxed out 1Gbps?
*
During the start of the installation, when the network is quiet, DL can reach about 970mbps. UL as expected can be 500-570 ish max

But assuming that SWU 3.0 1Gbps is being upgraded, more investment is needed to get the full 2Gbps then :’), just got myself a 10Gbps switch a bit ago, wallets crying

soli.. noop question...

i oso received the notification eligible  for the speed upgrade.

so wat i need to do? jz sit bck & wait OR need to click the "change plan" to choose myself?
*
If you’re not on 800 upgrading to ultra(If this isn’t a glitch), should be a notification notify you that your plan has been upgraded remotely and a restart with your router should help the PPPoE to redial and re-negotiate your speed

That is if everything shown on the app is not a glitch 😎

Please ask the technician to set the ISP's ONR router to bridge mode instead of router mode. If the ONR router is set to router mode, it will cause a double-NAT issue with your second router. In bridge mode, all traffic from the ONR router will simply pass through to the secondary router.

Double-NAT occurs when two routers on the same network are both trying to perform NAT (network address translation). This can cause problems with connectivity and performance.

Bridge mode disables the routing functionality of the ONR router, effectively turning it into a modem. This allows your second router to handle all routing duties, eliminating the double-NAT issue.

Note: I am talking about optical network routers (ONRs) received by those with the 1 Gbps plan and above.
*
Just a heads up, your installation technician might not know how to, but it’s possible to set to bridge.

So theres no double NAT-ing in this case.

Source? Me, I’m on 1Gbps running OPNSense with D-Link ONR in bridge mode biggrin.gif

Actually China already got a few model of 2.5G BTU or ONR,but TM just didn't use those and just cooperate with Dlink for the ONR...
Dlink must be giving a super low price for TM in order to supplies those ONR...
And we are the guinea pig for the first public release consumer grade ONR by Dlink...
*
The amount of cheap ZTE F7607P 2.5Gbps ONU on taobao is literally going for like scraps. TM TM, truly never change doh.gif, what wasted opportunities mega_shok.gif

Huawei ban, jump to ZTE/fiberhome.
Then ZTE now ban, jump to fiberhome/Dlink lol.
It is a bet, glitch will do that. devil.gif

And not to mention D-Link ONU probably OEM and not D-Link's own ranting.gif

I am from JB and the TM Point I went I only talked to a staff at a temporary reception ticket counter near the door entrance.
Maybe the staff stationed here was new or basic staff
who just strictly follow the SOP (must end contract then only can apply SWU etc)

Perhaps if I insisted to talk to any staff at a proper counter, maybe I could get it

TM should come out with a standard SOP for upgrade within contract
now different TM Point, different staff, different SOPs  doh.gif

I will try my luck again on other TM Point on next business day (JB TM Point Friday and Saturday not open for business)
since so many cases people successfully change to SWU package even if they are within contract
*
Just my two cents, me and my mom went to TMPoint Pelangi.

Went from 30Mbps to 1Gbps no questions asked from their staff, even showed us their WhatsApp group with the brochure for SWU 3.0. You can try your luck there on Sun, but do note it’s quite packed at times. Last time we went there at about 3-4 ish, waited for an hour plus for like 8 person ahead of my mom and me @-@
