Yeah, reboot the modem solves the problem. Hence, the annoyance... I doubt other modems face these kind of problems?U Home 5G

Same here, the only solution is to reboot the modem manually, once it's done, the SSID will appear in less than a minute. Otherwise if you let it reboot itself, SSID will not appear nor the internet will be connected. |

I set my 5G modem to be rebooted everyday. Saves headache and hassle. ZTE MC8020 Unifi Air 5G. Also, no firmware update for this model with ridiculous high retail price, sigh.Otherwise if you let it reboot itself, SSID will not appear nor the internet will be connected. |

Notice DC usually in the morning. Wait for awhile to see if it recover by itself but nope. Otherwise if you let it reboot itself, SSID will not appear nor the internet will be connected. My SSID still up n the physical modem show green colour for the signal. So I logged in to modem and changed my 5G NSA to 4G and click apply. Then changed back to 5G NSA back and apply again. Then everything works fine. I can just restart the device but just wanna quick fix. Modem booting is slow. If this happening frequently and if I got the timing right in the morning, I might schedule the modem to restart daily. |

I guess other houses n buildings blocking the way. Anyway I'm happy with average 300mbps. Terminated my unifi already for our 5G, it's never about how far away it isit's about how many walls it has to go through...the more walls/obstacle, the more reduced the speed is i'm getting 3 bars, around 300Mbps too....with my qualcomm chip phone, i get full bar and easily double that speed mista_amin liked this post

For me, my MC888s displays full bar with -89dBm. And even though full bar, most of the time, around 250Mbps on this modem...
Now waiting to see when is the next occasion it's going to DC... Checking the logs, this is what I would see: Apr 13 12:45:28 : [user][info]Rndis(1657): OnConnectFail, rndis_check_connect_state_count=0 |

planning to get uhome with the router (24 months contract). but after reading last 5 pages of this topic, I think I'll settle with modified zlt x28 or aw1000 or tplink x50. still undecided until now. my maxis fibre contract will end this July, woohoo. zlt x28 - modified, super cheap rm500+ only, got beta hotspot bypass mod (so can even just use yes prepaid rm30 monthly) aw1000 - faster chipset, modified, can lock band, sadly no hotspot bypass yet (if it does this will be perfect choice for me), plan to use contract free umobile / yes sim x50 - fast chipset, firmware lock not able to modified yet, but best official support from tplink + hassle free setup if I want to do mesh with other tplink deco I'll keep researching & will buy a router in July. anyway, is there any other 5g router that able to bypass hotspot & price <1.2k other than zlt x28? tks. QUOTE(Ngto @ Apr 16 2024, 09:08 AM) can use cheaper plan. example yes prepaid rm30, yes postpaid rm35. both offering uncapped 5g data & uncapped 5g speed. just in case uhome connection not consistent, etc. that way I can use both yes & uhome, one as main one as backup.with hotspot bypass, if I use two sim: yes prepaid 30, uhome 68. total 98. both sim no contact, but the prepaid no need top up if no use. w/o hotspot bypass, if I use two sim: yes home 58, uhome 68. total 126. both no contact but every month still need to pay for both sim the full amount. I know it's not a lot, but it's still a saving for me. + convenient if in the future there's another value plan that's limited with just the hotspot quota. |

Earlier you mentioned you wanted to buy uhome plan. I replied based on that assumption.
AW1000 already can bypass hotspot FT5G prepaid sim. Can torrent also. But from experience, after a while they cap your speed if they detect you are using too much data for a mobile plan.. This post has been edited by Ngto: Apr 16 2024, 10:37 AM |
