They who are used to having to work to get what they need or want will fit right in a country like Singapore. Those who are not so used to this concept will cast aspersions and belittle they who are making a living and a life for themselves in Singapore.

Difference in perspective I guess? Haha .. but things can get stressful too at times.

Set up a plan, what do u want in life? Life is so short, do u want to work till you r old? Do u want to retire early and travel around the world maybe. Plan out your life for the next 15 years including your finances etc

For me its not because of family, i just realise theres more to life than work, i do the bare minimum at my work now and go back earlier or on time. I feel suffocated in sg with the hdb view, taking public transport with the crowd and ocassional people who dont shower, the crowded malls, the shitty food, the rude people. sg really just not a place to live
*
Not so much for myself. I have enough to retire with my spouse. The consideration changes when you have young ones. Don’t find any place where the 2nd generation has to work harder than their 1st gen economic migrants.

True for those who are starting out, but Singapore at least pays a wage commensurate with your ability - at least far better than what Malaysia is offering.

Hello, just stumbled upon this thread. I applied march last year going to be 1 year now. Althought applied right after 6 months working here. Most of people i know who are malaysian male, freshgrads, 6 months exp will get exactly around 1 year, my indonesian colleague got it in 3 months.
interesting that many of u guys plan to convert to citizenship, dont think i ever will. KL to me have much better living standards and more things to do than sg. And i dont want to work till 60. I plan to work till 35-40 then retire back in my. U guys plan to work till retirement age?

New bloods coming to singapore is alway like this one. By the time u know it, you’re 15-20years in, career good, life is good, and the last nail is if your kids love being in sg. As you get older, you’ll realize your life plan revolves more around your kids. I don’t have kids myself, but I see that’s what happened to many of my fellow Malaysians. Once your kids anchor themselves to Singapore, you let go of your pipe dream retiring in Malaysia

crowded public transport,
occasional people who don't shower

Sometimes I prefer to take the bus from its starting point. Luckily, I only live one bus station away from the MRT/bus interchange. I don't like standing on the bus as too small space in bus.

I prefer double-decker buses and always go upstairs to sit. This type of bus can accommodate many seats.

Sometimes, people work until late at night, not because they don't take a shower. Some people work in heavy jobs and sweat a lot.

The food at the coffee shop is really not good. It all tastes the same, like it's made by a machine chef. But the food at the hawker center is overall nice.

My short term target is to get PR so can force myself to save more and also employeer contribution
But now the dream seem so far to me

Current company is good, but the management is micro manage
WFH ask why
Apply AL also ask why
Work until not happy, everyday endless tasks
live like walking zombie, Stress like hell sia

Thought of changing new job but hard to get the same current salary
Also my heart still back in Msia not here

One good have no two good. At least salary is good and company is good.
Work for the money lo... see money than happy lo... no need to see management.

Then why would she need an S pass if she doesn’t want to work in Singapore?

She just graduated, so she doesn't have the courage and confidence to work in Singapore. She'll take it slow.

But, you know, the salary in Malaysia is low, so she will eventually come to Singapore. That's what I think.......

To be honest, Singapore is experiencing a slow down in hiring across almost every job front, so maybe it's good for now that your sister is keen to try working in Malaysia first. Hopefully when things improve, she'll be ready to come down and join you.
