Hello guys, need some help.

I saw my colleague using Keychron K6 and I'm starting to fall in love. And I plan to get one. However, Keychron has way so many model, ( Q, K, C) and range with various number 1,2,3, etc .

So its a bit hard for me as well as take a really long time to research each and everyone of them. I am fine with/without keypad. And as long the item is best buck. I am fine. Kindly suggest any good model for me to make some comparison.

Or if there is any better keyboard other than Keychron, feel free to share with me. Thanks!

.. er you're like telling us, 'i saw my friend having a new girl friend. i would like to have one also, but i am lazy to pick one, because all are so pretty; well, i don't need her to have big boobs, but as long as she is cheap, i'm on.'

seriously, we all have different taste. i will suggest a black q2 bare bone, without knob, because i'm ok with the form factor, layout, and i don't use knob.

edit: by the way, keychron covers form factors from 40% to full-size. it's a good place for beginners to start own research.

What keycap profiles you guys used? Really like the look of SAs but dont think I can get used to it.

I use cherry and kat, but cherry is my fav.
You can try kat or mt3 if you think sa is too high.
If you wanna try sa, i have a few sets i can lend you.
Not great sa sets mind you, but at least you can try to see if you can tolerate the height.

Haha, sorry my bad. Cause the last time I bought mechanical keyboard is corsair K series cherry mx red. So my knowledge is like until red, blue, brown. Sorry if I offend you.

For me I also will not use the knob as well. I can do some researches my end. It just that I have to research from K1 till K14 and then C1, etc. So if there is good recommendation for your expertise, I would very welcome. If not, then I will just continue to slowly research all these keyboards or asking via other portal. Thanks!

aiyo don't apologize. it's just a dumb joke. i'm glad that you can take it smile.gif

it's just that the more hints that you can give to us, those who know can give you better options, e.g., budget, form factor, layout, switch hotswapping support, qmk firmware support, case type (plastic, metal), detachable or fixed cable, wired/wireless, with foam or not, fully-built or barebone, etc.

edit: i know the list is lengthy, but those are basic options that you can get at keychron at least, depending on availability.

I can only give you those that I know, cause i can be honest with you, almost half of the thing you listed here, I have no clue at all haha.

budget: RM500 - RM700 ( can top up more if needed)
case type: plastic and metal are fine for me, I'm not going to bring keyboard anywhere. so weight is not an issue.
detachable or fixed cable, wired/wireless: I think its together i believe. I prefer having both wired/wireless feature, if there is such option, for cable I think usb type-C port is my prefer choice.

other than that, I am not really sure for now haha. But one thing for sure, I prefer gateron red. biggrin.gif

And one more thing, i know there is one without keypad, another one with keypad. Actually I'm fine without keypad as well. Though I have been using keyboard with keypad. But I welcome to have a change if keyboard is good yo.

basically
K odd is low profile
K even is normal profile
K pro has alu top
Q is full alu
V is full plastic with qmk/via
Dunno what s and c is

Figure out your layout from 12% to 100%. Then choose from keychron official website. Then pick whatever cheapest in shopee lazada or physical shop.

Qmk/via is an easy software to remap keys and add macros.
Some shops like mecha or mykb will have the actual kb for you to touch.
Note: q and v barebones you have to get your own switches and keycaps. Which is preferable especially since keychron keycaps suck.

like krayden suggested, you should start by choosing a layout. since you're ok without keypad, you can check out 65%, 75%, and 80% (tkl) first. check to see in each layout if you're ok with the missing keys.

beside weight, case type influences typing feel and sound.

Ok let me tell you my boring story ... i went for RK61 it was a good keebs like it then i went for epomaker still the same form factor like RK and plastic but better in term of build and gasket and with mods. Then i went for Q1 full alu and boy this is another level of keebs
Did some minor mod since the previous owner have done the full mod to the keebs ... my mod usually will be on the switches only since i like frankenswitch.

Well as said by the other sifus it come back to your preference, havent try any o ring mod .. maybe if have time will try as i would like to try that too

well keychron is good as entry level compare to the QK series or the other high ends one like RAMA etc
maybe u can go try hands on at MKB store or another one in sunway i think

hhhmmm... got myself k3 v2 optical red switch last year Feb directly from official site, cause no stock back then everywhere. Like every newbie, just start with keychron to have a taste of mechanical although didn't physically test it before. After a year of using, like it very much... but wondering if there's any place offer lubing service... lazy to go in depth to diy...

You should at least figure out what layout you want. Gateron reds are linear switches.

One thing that gets overlooked is how the usb wire is plugged in. Some keyboards have the usb socket at the sides or in front which can be accidentally knocked loose which I don't like, I prefer the socket underneath.

I think lately theres some concern over Keychron's quality control and some people are not happy about problems cropping up and how Keychron is dealing with it.
