I replaced my 6 year old Corsair K65 with a Keychron V1 recently while done some researching over the holidays.

Gotta say this hobby is fun and rewarding, also seems not too costly nowadays. Kind of relaxing to mod boards while listen to youtube/podcast.

Was at MKB store the other day (not opening) and the store was packed!

technically, it depends on what you're after. but yes, things have changed since few years ago, after built-in switch hotswapping was introduced in the market.

with commercial parties offerring prebuilts/barebone units that are more convenient for modifications to users, and help bring down costs through mass production, it's not really costly today.

yeah, gotta say soldering on pcbs scares me. the old corsair wasnt cheap too but i have had enough of those cherry reds. Now its so liberating to change switches whenever i want it.

Did they have good clones keycaps there? Thinking of dropping by next week to get some clones for my next board. Saving a few hundreds for a small difference is a no brainer to me

haha youre asking the wrong person, i dont know how to judge (guess more reading then...). but i think most of the stuff there is available in their shopee page.

What keycap profiles you guys used? Really like the look of SAs but dont think I can get used to it.

Yeah in the shop I did try out all sort of switches, they have plenty of them on 2 big test boards, from linears to clickies all labelled.

End up getting the Leobog Icesoul, don't find much info but i really like them. Primarily gaming but typing now is more accurate compared to when using linears.

Forgot to ask, any recommendation for keycaps with good shine though dark environment? Prefer not fully transparent ones.

I still dont know much but i find the filter is a good way to trim the selection. I do like my V1, first mod is to forget about the included cable and use Pulsar mouse included parachord biggrin.gif

Just to put out some budget new models to consider..

1. Tecware Phantom+ Elite is new sleek looking a 3 mode, hotswap TKL board, almost Drop like for RM300ish

2. GMK67 is a barebones gasket mount 3 mode, 65% board, RM200ish. Apparently Epomaker use this to create another model of their own while charging more.

novelkeys cream+, https://novelkeys.com/collections/top-dogs/...m-plus-switches (inserts)

now you can change the sound profile of switches, and silicon inserts might be the solution to silent switches, to help minimize mushiness.

hi, sorry i am new to keyboard world.

is gmk67+leobog greywood v3 switch for rm 247 ok?

no warranty though.

New or used? You can get new without keycaps for around the same price.

I'm using the same setup, really liking it, preference is for gaming though, sounds marbly with the xda pbt keycaps, really nice.

You can go to MKB shop to see if you like the graywoods. Prelubed and cheap! Also quite a few sounds demo in bilibili site.

The GMK stabs arent the best but ever since i got this i never use my keychron v1,

Bear in mind im just a casual hobbyist though.

Want to ask, is there any advantages of a full POM (stem and case) switch?

Yes PBT doesn't get oily as fast as ABS.

I wonder thought why some still opt for ABS keycaps? Seem like most would want PBT but there are still some pretty pricey ABS out there.

The specs looks freakishly similar to a Wuque switch..

yeah to me maybe it's a balance ground for major gaming but still great for typing. Usually the heavier linears and tactiles that I like are too tough for spamming in games. Too soft and it'll end up like reds which is why i abandon my old corsair.

Sounds pretty soft to me though, before i have strawberry jellies that are louder.

Also the recent Linus video on Mechanical keyboards are pretty well made too.

Yeah i'm relieved it wasn't something tough to get used to. What's tough is to resist such calm colors on a minimalist caps design haha.
