Btw anyone tried the VBS + HVCI(aka core isolation+memory integrity) features in Win11 for more security?(well it was introduced in win 10 18something but was made a thing for requirement of win 11. I personally found that enabling HVCI will cause my cpu to run at higher clock speed thus draining more battery maybe due to utilizing the MBEC(Mode Based Execution Control) of the CPU. Strange that with HVCI on the memory used by windows is lesser than off. In the end I choose to turn it off the high battery drain was something I cannot comprise since I do like my laptop plugged in always. Maybe ppl with desktop can consider turning that on thou some media reported gaming performance will suffer with it on

Did u modify registry to get old right click context menu back? I had similar problem after using online guide to modify registry to get old context menu back for sake of convenience . However it seems to destabilize new taskbar so I had to undo the registry and everything back to normal. Guess I had to wait for developer like 7zip and notepad++ to add support to new context menu like winrar and nanazip.

After upgrade my firefox run fine ;can't comment about opera since I do not use it. My advise will be try backup ur browser setting and then reinstall them on win 11.

Another noticeable minor bug  for taskbar is when u hover over it will not display battery estimated remaining time but it was found in settings. Furthermore, when u hover over to blank space taskbar it will show some popup like speaker or volume if hover to those icons before.

I actually uninstall and re-install already.
But, problem persist.

That's why I am curious about this.

Chrome no issue though.

If can get it encrypted while drunk is really a talent. tongue.gif

I'm using home edition, I read Win 11 requirements is must encrypt and use MS account. Home edition it will store the key in cloud, pro edition can choose whether not to store the key in cloud.

Haha! You must be very drunk than usual.

I never read an article mention required encryption. It do required TPM 2.0 but encryption is optional. 😛

After checking, I think I know already. Because of Modern Standby, it will auto turn on encryption.

Another thing that break my norm is pinned app at Start won't show pinned file/link when right click. But if pinned app at Taskbar will show pinned file/link. confused.gif

I read is Pro edition supposed can choose where to store the key.
Your laptop also have Modern Standby function?

Maybe a lot device also have been auto encrypted when they upgrade to Win 11 but didn't realize it. I also didn't realize until some driver update that might caused secure boot to be disabled and it prompt to enter the key.

it's Pro but W10 and it's totally fresh install so could not remember if Modern Standby is enabled, but by default Bitlocker was enabled. It was installed on a T470s 7th gen Intel, previous installs for other 3 ThinkPad (this year) does not do this.

Anyway it's not bad, just have to make sure to secure MSA

Ya I think maybe also a good thing to have it encrypted since portable device have much higher chance to go missing, don't want someone else get access to my data.

I encrypt all my drives but i do have > 3-2-1 back up rule, BitLocker is pretty good as an FDE tool & no harm to enable it. On the sideline no need to DBAN (i think) it if ever to give or sell the drive

MS another try after the not so great Connected Standby in Win 8.
Basically it let the device sleep with the least amount of power usage but still can perform email retrieving and such.
I rarely use it, usually just hibernate it if not using the laptop.

All my data is in the cloud at my home. In laptop is mirror and sync back to cloud. biggrin.gif
Maybe used to from yesteryears where don't have backup and last time Windows not stable, something might go wrong and it won't boot, have to reinstall Windows again, so need to copy the data to another device first before format and reinstall.

I upgraded using the win 11 Installation Assistant, didnt touch registry.

Anyway the taskbar is ok now. Dont know what triggered it but noticed the taskbar was like refreshing after a few hours usage and all the icons showed up.

Great practice, doing same so BitLocker is not an issue for me & it's better enabled.
