QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 13 2021, 12:04 AM) It will but latest news is Microsoft allow you install via ISO for not meet requirement PC. They later also correct they will let you download cumulative update until next build and they will not provide you next build update. (probably another half year later) does it mean for non compliance hardware1. Windows 11 will allow to install via ISO but not the Windows Updates (if re install is update OS hope all licenses will be valid) 2. any cumulative updates will be able to download 3. Any next build need to download and update manually if that is the case it is not so bad |

1. Should be but Microsoft anytime can change term, Microsoft change many times already. 2. So far yes. 3. Maybe Microsoft will totally not given you next build anymore. The build here I mean major update where Microsoft did it around 1/2 year once in Windows 10. [/quote] Thanks in other words need upgrade hardware to the latest and greatest........MS did a great job for Windows 10 and O365 which i am very very happy with them (migrated everything from OSX to Windows in 2017) but to upgrade all my hardware due to OS is not so interesting and W10 support up to 2025 This post has been edited by 1kokies: Sep 13 2021, 07:26 AM Andrewtst liked this post

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Oct 9 2021, 07:29 AM) If can get it encrypted while drunk is really a talent. I did a W10P 21H1 install yesterday I'm using home edition, I read Win 11 requirements is must encrypt and use MS account. Home edition it will store the key in cloud, pro edition can choose whether not to store the key in cloud. 1. User created with Microsoft account 2. ThinkPad has TPM2.0 3. Yes it auto Bitlock and auto sends the key to MS account First time i see this too |

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Oct 10 2021, 11:42 AM) I read is Pro edition supposed can choose where to store the key. it's Pro but W10 and it's totally fresh install so could not remember if Modern Standby is enabled, but by default Bitlocker was enabled. It was installed on a T470s 7th gen Intel, previous installs for other 3 ThinkPad (this year) does not do this. Your laptop also have Modern Standby function? Maybe a lot device also have been auto encrypted when they upgrade to Win 11 but didn't realize it. I also didn't realize until some driver update that might caused secure boot to be disabled and it prompt to enter the key. Anyway it's not bad, just have to make sure to secure MSA |

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Oct 10 2021, 02:10 PM) Ya I think maybe also a good thing to have it encrypted since portable device have much higher chance to go missing, don't want someone else get access to my data. I encrypt all my drives but i do have > 3-2-1 back up rule, BitLocker is pretty good as an FDE tool & no harm to enable it. On the sideline no need to DBAN (i think) it if ever to give or sell the driveThis post has been edited by 1kokies: Oct 10 2021, 10:19 PM |

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Oct 11 2021, 12:34 AM) MS another try after the not so great Connected Standby in Win 8. Great practice, doing same so BitLocker is not an issue for me & it's better enabled.Basically it let the device sleep with the least amount of power usage but still can perform email retrieving and such. I rarely use it, usually just hibernate it if not using the laptop. All my data is in the cloud at my home. In laptop is mirror and sync back to cloud. Maybe used to from yesteryears where don't have backup and last time Windows not stable, something might go wrong and it won't boot, have to reinstall Windows again, so need to copy the data to another device first before format and reinstall. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 14 2021, 03:23 PM) You no need report to Feedback Hub, Microsoft already said they won't support for PC not in supported list. Thanks for the update, i have laptops of similiar CPUI got also install at my old laptop that is not in support list which running IntelĀ® Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz and GPU IntelĀ® HD Graphics 530 + Nvidia GeForce 970M with 16 GB RAM + SSD. It is smooth but I still can feel it is not what Windows 11 suppose buttery smooth as it should when I compare with my New PC running AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70GHz and GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 32 GB RAM + NVMe SSD. Once you see how Windows 11 perform in New PC spec, then you will know actually it is not buttery smooth in older spec especially those not meet the requirement spec. - In my new PC, everything include new design apps like Photo, Clock all open instant, no waiting. The File Explorer in dark mode is instant appear and not showing the clip of white. - In my old laptop, everything need 2 to 3 seconds to open. Those new design apps like Photo, Clock need 3 to 4 seconds to open. The File Explorer showing a clip of white and icon load up later in 1 to 2 seconds. Andrewtst liked this post
