Honesly to me, Thermalright products is not pricey at all.
Do take a look at the quality and the build design. What are you guys expecting? A build quality of Thermalright but at the price of Xigmatek? Duh. Still, i do hope Inter-Asia can give a better price compared to PCModding. This post has been edited by sHawTY: Aug 31 2007, 09:44 AM |

up and over my expectation for a air cooler. still, i'm using XP-90. much suit my need. the other cooler i used b4, TT silent tower, CM hyper 6, Scythe ninja, all comes to a conclude, what u pay is what u get. |

QUOTE(Edifier @ Sep 9 2007, 11:38 PM) Ha.. still new in this cooler thingy, need more input I am not interested in any aircooling heatsink as i'm already using watercooling. What r the new products u interested? Please let me know, will ship in next time. But, i know which heatsink that is on hot demand. This are the heatsinks that is on hot demands A.K.A. hot sales: CPU Cooler: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Thermalright Ultima 90 Thermalright HR-01 Plus Chipset Cooler: Thermalright HR-05 IFX Thermalright HR-05 IFX SLi Graphic Cooler: Thermalright HR-03 Plus Thermalright HR-03 R600 Thermalright V2 It'll be better if you choose to bring in these products rather than those old heatsink in your websites. Those thing aren't going anywhere nowadays since the demand for those heatsink is rather low. Just a piece of my suggestions. Owh, and by the way, we do expect your prices to be better than the hardass thermalright bulker. QUOTE(sniper69 @ Sep 9 2007, 11:56 PM) TR IFX? I'm using TR Ultra 120EX and it's almost as good as my Swiftech Apogee GT but once fitted you can forget about it, no hassle unlike wc. So definitely I can say TR coolers are by far the best air coolers in the market. Sure there are others like IceAge, Enzotech and Xigmatek to name a few, but none have come close in terms of having a full range of total cooling solution for the pc.
Have achieved 3.87GHz on air with my Q6600 GO |

Woot! Big thanks to Inter Asia for giving me lotsa new toys to play with today. Got myself the KING of coolers right now, the IFX14. Also got the HR03 Plus for my 8800GTX and also sum lovely HR07 Duo Type L ram coolers.
Wokeh here comes the pix. ![]() Look at the Intel Q6600 cooler next to the IFX14. Sooooooooooo puny compared to the IFX14. ![]() The backside cooler as Thermalright calls it, next to the IFX14 ![]() Side view of just how massive the IFX14 is. The size of 1 side is even bigger than the XP120 I had last time. Now, just imagine 2 units of XP120 sandwiched together to make the IFX14. That's how massive it is. ![]() ![]() Now look at the big fat heatpipes. 8mm size! ![]() Here comes the HR03 Plus for the 8800GTX. ![]() Even the HR03 is bigger than the Intel Q6600 cooler. ![]() Finally the ram coolers called HR07 Duo Type L. ![]() This post has been edited by ianho: Sep 23 2007, 12:39 AM |

however, there is still a little drawback of the hr03 plus as the air is blow down and will trap inside casing...if will be better if they design the cooler where the fan blow out the hot air like the stock hsf

QUOTE(stevenlee @ Sep 23 2007, 07:50 AM) btw different between 20c is very impressive.. Offcourse it is, look at the original 8800 series heatsink. Not just the stock heatsink only use 1 heatpipe, the stock heatsink cools everything using ONLY 1 heatsink A.K.A. All In One. While for HR-03, everything is separated, thus, it cools every single parts each by using it's own heatsink. Imagine that you're in 1HP airconditioned room in these two case, which one is cooler and which is not? * You are alone inside the aiconditioned room. * You're with 30 of your friend inside the aiconditioned room. |

Not many people like to deal with him because of his attitude. Interasia is better to deal with. Just hoping that they'll give better price compared to PCModdingMY. I had mine for a very minor item only .. treat customers so badly even after many times of return purchase ... more supplier would make the market more healthier .... |

QUOTE(Doom @ Sep 23 2007, 11:07 AM) I really if uncle's test setup can be fit into a standard atx case to let us know how it would fit into a case .... Shud be able to lar. The top of the IFX14 doesn't go above the the PCB of the mobo n the bottom HR03 only goes slightly below the bottom of the mobo PCB with a slim 8cm fan. Most ATX cases got about 2-3cm clearance at the bottom sumore. Only thing is the height of the IFX14 is incredible. It's like KL Tower! So narrow cases wont fit. If follow ATX spec then sudn be a prob I reckon. aAnyway, after I finish testing n benching I will take out everything n squeeze it all into an Encloxure Wizard casing to see if allthose heatpipes will go inside a normal ATX case. |

For the IFX-14, does the heatpipes at the back of the mobo really helps? I mean, it is using heatpipe technology right? However, with the heatpipes flattened so much, does it still work effectively?

I see, was just thinking of how a flattened heatpipe work can efficiently......
Anyway, in order to install the back heatpipe, the casing would have to be modified right? I.e. create a special hole just for the heatpipes to go through right? |

Coz the mobo stops right on the floor of the case n tehre's no space for the backside cooler's radiator.it depends on the case though cant blame rich ppl like you Anyway, if really cant fit the backside cooler oso is no big deal lor. Lolz, a gap at the upper of the mobo. I just realize that couldn't use the backplate... even thou the height for the main heatsink could enough.

From this review, the memory heatsink adhesive of the HR-03 PLUS is very weak.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/08/27/how...lers/page2.html Bro Ianho, did u face the same issues? If use third party thermal adhesive, will it be too sticky and hard to remove the heatsink when you want to take it off in the future? |

QUOTE(tskhang @ Sep 25 2007, 10:38 AM) From this review, the memory heatsink adhesive of the HR-03 PLUS is very weak. It's always a problem when ppl dont clean the chips properly b4 applying the heatsinks. It's not the thermal tape's fault. The tape that comes with the heatsinks is a good brand called Sekisui. U need to clean off the oil left behind by the stock thermal pads. The stock thermal pads leave a very oily white residue on the chips. If u just stick the heatsinks on top of that, it's sure to fall off. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/08/27/how...lers/page2.html Bro Ianho, did u face the same issues? If use third party thermal adhesive, will it be too sticky and hard to remove the heatsink when you want to take it off in the future? The way I do it is to use Zippo lighter fluid to clean off all the oil. Then I use alcohol to clean off the zippo residue n the chips are like brand new with no oil on them. THEN n only then do u stick the heatsinks on. The tapes are very strong, u just need to clean the chips properly 1st. It's quite shocking to c a site like Tom's Hardware doing things like that actually. This post has been edited by ianho: Sep 25 2007, 11:49 AM |

The HR-03 Plus can use smaller fans using zip ties.
Wonder can put 120mm fans or not using zip ties? Maybe bro Ianho can answer that? This post has been edited by tskhang: Sep 25 2007, 09:12 PM |

got 14cm fan .. besides no need zip ties can just use the twist string ...
those that used to tie out wires when got a new keyboard or mouse ,... get a roll for 5m at RM3 only ..... some even got color selection ... way more economical and got length flexibility... |

Oh forgot about the 4 dimms thing. U can use 4 of them no probs. Just imagine 2 of the fin units sitting on top of the 1st 2 units. So it kinda forms like a square. The reason why u need the HR-07 plus and Duo
![]() While many RAM manufacturers have tried to surpass the frequency mark of 1600MHz they were met with failed attempts, hindered by the obstacle of insufficient cooling. What's the best way to remove the stock HSF on 8800gtx after removing the screws? Do you just pull it off or there is a way to do it?

are u sure u are in the right section to ask this question ??
but anyway u would need to separate the heatsink from the card with a bit of force coz the rams are sticked to the cooler .... just make sure u have removed all the screws before do so ... u don't want to spoil the card with excessive force.. |

Best is not to cool off too long before removing, run the card for 20-30mins then cool off like 5-10mins, remain a bit of heat, dont direct 90* pull off, turn left / right to loose the contact thermal tape, then clean deep and apply new thermal paste (GPU) then carefully stick the thermal tape on ram/chip sink on,For more detail you can go to product page for step by step instructions Happy modding |

QUOTE(ianho @ Sep 25 2007, 11:42 AM) It's always a problem when ppl dont clean the chips properly b4 applying the heatsinks. Can ArctiClean remove the oiliness of the stock thermal pads? Will it damage the card if overspilled due to small surfaces of some chips? The way I do it is to use Zippo lighter fluid to clean off all the oil. Then I use alcohol to clean off the zippo residue n the chips are like brand new with no oil on them. THEN n only then do u stick the heatsinks on. The tapes are very strong, u just need to clean the chips properly 1st. It's quite shocking to c a site like Tom's Hardware doing things like that actually. You could also post a poll for list of heatsinks that interested by the member ... @tskhang It could clean it nicely as well ... just make sure it's clean by doing it few times until u don't feel any bit of greasy feels from the surface of the chip.. |

What I dont like about Artic Cleaner is that it's citrus based. Means it's acidic if I'm not wrong. Best to use a mild solvent like Zippo so if there are spills it will just evaporate without harm. Besides Zippo fluid is like teh WD40 of hobby world. Every hobby man shud always haf 1 bottle at home.

![]() Thermalright is continuously expanding the line of the High Riser series exhibiting fine, well thought out design and focusing on main features such as silence and performance. HR-01 was the first product from the HR-series to be at the front line in a battle with heat. But with technologies getting more advanced and CPUs getting faster and hotter, it was time to upgrade the CPU cooler. Thus, HR-01 PLUS !....... More Details Here |

xp90c still can find? i tot it was EOL long time ago. btw, its performance has been surpassed by the ultra 120, and the ultra 120 ex.
i would recommend ultra 120 ex if there's no budget constraint. intothefantasy: there's no best fans. of course, it is better to find a fan which could provide good static pressure. I find not much difference from my cheap vantec (vizo) 12cm 1600+ CFM fan compared to 12cm silverstone FM123. But the 123 could go higher speeds which might reduce some degrees of heat. coolermaster wise, the CFM is too low to provide enough CFM to even blow through the ultra120's fins. of course 2ndhand one la....
if u compared xp90 wih ultra 120, of course later is better. i got my xp90 just for rm75, how come it can beat rm200++ ultra 120?? for fans, maybe can try to get 2 medium speed fans for push-pull configuration... |

I thought the price is pretty standard ..... what so surprise about it ..
I think the best is to use dual 12cm fans that running very slow RPM to achieve maximum cooling at least noise ... |

Actually they are similar where ever you get the TR from, the price also quite standard, in BULK you can just order online so dont have to go down to LYP and jam there for hours,
But if you used to travel to KL / city center then its fine to get from LYP, We also will try our best to get more shops / dealers in LYP, also a wider range of products, For the time being you can head to Edifier showroom to purchase or booking HR-03GT is open for pre-order, as for special price, valid til 31st Jan 2008 only, If you purchasing form BULK / GARAGE please ask topic owner for more info, TQ |

I had used HR-01 from different batches ... old and new ..
the old batch has slightly thicker fins and it hardly cut finger during handling .. however the newer batch has really shine and sharp fins ... every time get light scratch while installing it ... which is why in the end I tend to just use Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro .... Less cut but doesn't lost the performance ... |

Yes indeed. My friend had a Zalman CNPS9700NT that I helped to sell (2nd hand) and it weighed more than the IFX-14. My IFX-14 is still in the box since the day I bought...sigh. No time to test.
Added on January 4, 2008, 12:28 amFor those wanting to buy HR07 or RAM fans, just go for the Ultra 120 Extreme...IFX is too fat. This post has been edited by clayclws: Jan 4 2008, 12:28 AM |

When you mount it in a small casing then you'll feel like getting the Ultra Extreme even more It's big, bulky and even tough on my CM690. What's more you have to care for the fins during the process, lol. |

It is the design...the IFX-14 does not fit a lot of other Thermalright's own heatsinks. Once you use the IFX-14, you cannot use their RAM, Northbridge and MOSFET heatsinks...If you are using MSI's Circu-pipe, then you're a goner from the get-go.

I wonder why they'd design something like that and lose selling other products For my case, I can never fit a RAM blower (probably due to my motherboard design too). Well, WC is the next step or a Wolfdale. |

Yeah, that's the only way to use them. You can't place the fans on the side closest to the RAM. But some motherboards, like my P35C-DS3R that has 6 RAM slots (4 DDR2, 2 DDR3), there's not much space above DIMM1.

clayclws is right and having only 1 fan in the middle isn't the most optimum setup for IFX-14 (unfortunately).

Those are just commercialized fans and I would never spend that kind of money on such a fan.
You can get fans just as good if not better even at a cheaper price. The concern is about airflow, not the brand. |

Good fans like NMB, ADDA, Sanyo Denki, Panaflo and Papst that aren't commercialized aren't easy to get. They are priced from RM20-50 depending on the size, CFM, RPM and dB.

They perform just as well or even better than the Silverstone and priced a lot cheaper. Fan controllers can be easily made too (I had 2 on my rig) so that wouldn't be a big problem. For those which are on budget, those LED Icute's are a pretty good buy. I tried out a few 120mm and the Icute gives the best airflow and with that, I bought some (eventhough I don't really like those LED's at first) I think it all comes to personal preference but for me, I don't think it's worth to spend on that Silverstone fan. Too expensive and all because it's commercialized |

Jalan Pasar is a popular place to get, but since it is so far away...I'm too lazy to go there all the time to have a look. Wish the electrical shops over at SS2 has some... This is turning out to be a fan thread pula. Ultima 90 performs just 1 to 2 degree weaker than Ultra-120 ..
So at that price it is really a good bang for money besides its size is also another advantage ... |

Another question. If you were to use just one fan for any of the Thermalright products, will you set it to push or pull? Which offers better cooling performance?

push will perform better, but should be marginally only as u have more air intake. The more dense the fin, u get less air flow.

Thermalright HR-03GT shipped local Stores / Bulkers
Promotions Ends 31st Jan 2008 QUOTE The HR-03 series started in the beginning of 2007 and was beloved by many computer hardware enthusiasts. It doesn't matter if it's the HR-03 PLUS or the HR-03/R600, they were all able to bring out the best in your high end video card with unprecedented overclocking results by providing maximum cooling protection. New video cards are constantly on the horizon. The most noticeable ones are the Nvidia G92 and the ATI RV670. Thermalright, of course, is right there again to welcome the new change of guard for extreme cooling and low noise. The new solution is HR-03 GT! HR-03 GT using 6 heatpipes and a double sided heatsink base, can work with any 92mm low noise fan. So if you are not prepared for the onslaught of heat and noise stock coolers generate, get the new HR-03 GT! I'm gonna use 120mm fan for it instead. Use the bracket from my Ultima90i. The bracket from HR03GT will fit into my Ultima90i, so dual fan on my Ultima90i

I did, but the 120mm fan does not snapped into place because of the 92mm niche that they carved out of the HR03 series fins. So, I used 92mm fan instead. Cut the hassle, just get a some wire strip or called wire twist ... tie any fan that fit the size to HR-03 would be much more easier .. |

using HR03GT on 6800 ULTRA, so far so good.
stock condition+120mm FAN direct blow, ambient +/- 26'C, fan noisy like 5 people typing in an office. idle:59'C, gaming:75~80'C sometimes the graphic card hang for a while because too hot. with HR03GT, ambient +/- 26'C, no fan..., only can hear the PC running quietly. idle:65'C, gaming:80 above'C, still running the game, but lag... HR03GT + 120mm FAN in constant speed around 1200rpm direct blow, you still can notice the fan running, but quieter than the stock fan. idle:55'C, gaming:~67'C just for sharing~ |

I dumped it into a bail of soap water for couple minutes and then cleaned with clean tap water ..
afterward lave on a piece of cloth and use hair dryer to vaporized water drops away ... so that it doesn't leave any water mark behind keeping it shine like a newly bought one .. |

I used hair dryer blowing hot air to dry my Noctua before. Biggest mistake i did. I touched the fins and base during drying and it oxidised. Had to use Brasso to polish the copper.

I've tested both Ultra 120E and the Ultima 90i. No doubt at all about the performance for TR. I would say, its almost certain that the stocks we getting locally are of the best quality. Each and everyone that I sold were inspected, mostly had near perfect finishing. Yet to receive any complaints. But, when sell other coolers, really shakehead when need to check the condition b4 sending out on courier or COD. Best part for the TR stuffs, their pipes never condensation, if thats what it calls to describe the phenomenan when the heatpipes turns white-ish color. Others like Thermaltake, Evercool, Coolermaster their heatpipe whether copper or nickel plated will still turn white-ish color. Irritating.

Very satisfied user of Thermalright Ultima-90i. My only qualms is that Thermalright should start producing fans on their own or at least, liase with a good company that does (NMB-MAT or something). If you want to personally chechk the hardware, why not go Lowyat and have a look before buying? Got mine at MyPC. Very nice folks there. Or you can get it from jy14 here. Very nice seller of which I've closed deals with on many times. (Didn't know you were selling TR stuffs until I got my Ultima-90i

Condensation is when water vapour in the air turns into water droplets when it meets colder temperature. Anyway, i agree with what you stated. My IFX-14 Heatpipes are still so sexy, the fins could use some soap water or vinegar or maybe coca-cola bath... QUOTE(clayclws @ Feb 26 2008, 05:44 AM) Very satisfied user of Thermalright Ultima-90i. Ultima-90i, one of the best performing 90mm heatsinks around. Another thing, the reason why TR do not bundle fans is because they allow users to choose their own fan to match the heatsink. Everyone has different criterias to fulfil, some wants dead silent setup, some wants powerful setup and noise is not of a problem. With TR u have the flexibility. Me, use of TR-XP90 and TR IFX-14. I have some issues on the IFX14 though, suspect contact not very good. Lapped, but it might be an issue of pressure. Will try a trick shared on other forums to increase pressure on the Proc and see if anything changes. |

clayclws & @meno: Thanks for the compliments. U guys were great buyers too.
@meno: Yes oxidation. haha, sorry my physics and chem thing all gave back to the lecturers oledi. haha I'm very surprise that those heatpipe can survive the oxidation while others just either bcome white for the silver color ones or bcome black for the copper. So, quality is the word to descibe TR stuffs. Best part too is the heatsinks can b "bathed". |

I thought the material used to make the heatsink is "anti-oxidization"? I can see the copper (base of my IFX-14) oxidizing as I lapped it. Bad move

Bad move Anti-oxidation is due to their coating. Thermalright heatpipes and base is coated with nickel which oxidise in air at high temperature. The fins of thermalright heatsink do oxidise in air though. They are non-coated aluminium fins. |

well, for one if anyone has been reading my reviews, almost all my Heatsinks are TR
no complaints except that we cant get certain models here like the SI128 but that has nothing to do with the quality of the product itself |

Some real life pictures & setup.. Go Thermalright !! Forget Watercooling. Definitely beat all entry level watercooling setup & yet less maintenance hassles.
If any of u are keen on getting this massive cooler but not sure if it fits well on ur casing or on ur motherboard, PM me the mobo model & casing type. I'll be able to advise if i've the experience on the combo. But dont buy from me as i don't sell Thermalright here in M'sia Cheers. IFX 14 & HR-03GT on a DFI X38 board, qx9450 & a 8800GTS 512. In air conditioned office environment, about 22-23c all 4core of cpu idle 33-36c @ default speed. with the gpu idling around 32-33c didn't have time to stress time with oc. but a quick stress test run shows the cpu's highest point load to about 55c & gpu only 43c SanAce 120mm x 38mm 0.52amp fan for IFX 14 ( set to auto in bios ) SanAce 92mm x 25mm 0.3amp fan for HR03 GT ( 70% with fan controller ) ![]() ![]() 1 of the fan bracket on the stacker sidepanel has to be removed, or it'll be touching the HR-03GT's heatpipe ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by uglyvamp: Apr 21 2008, 08:10 PM |

I think you misunderstand already.TRUE = Thermal Right Ultra120 Extreme There would not be a TRUE version of IFX14 because TRUE itself is a product by Thermalright Guess the only difference is its in Black. |

btw the new black true is just cover with black nickel coating, thermalright sure went through a lot of trouble, it a bit more challenging to be done afaik, may be taiwanese has invented some new method to do it |

thermal tape got 2 types as far as i know, 1 thick and 1 thin;
Thin 1 usually is clear type, like those use by Thermalright HR-07 1, but so far i still have not saw any place have these on sales. The thick 1 can be find in some hardware shop, but i dunno whether it thermal conductive tape or not though haha, need some expert to advice. most oil is not electrically conductive, but i cannot confirm though. And i dun like any liquid doing anything on my mobo, except for thermal paste.... haha.......... |

that would just be double sided tape man... not for thermal use.
some peope use the thin double sided tape and put a very small amount of TIM on the center of the heatsink then stick it on the rams. id recommend getting the 3m tapes from uglyvamp though they stick really well and ive never had one fall off before. |

I'm gonna build a new system.. and have been a Thermalright fanboy here.
Looking at the IFX-14... New rig would be using a GA-P35-DS3L and cased in a CM690. Would the IFX-14 fit in? with the backplate thingy. |

it would but just make sure your NB cooler has enough clearance with the IFX, coz the IFX is a massive thing

QUOTE(CHEEKSEO @ Jul 28 2008, 04:09 PM) it's like why Toyota / Honda are more expensive than proton..... (minus the tax / proton local jack-up price loh) but i'm not saying thermalright coolers mostly out-perform all other brands cooler... just as the branding / build-quality |

QUOTE(bikz @ Jun 14 2008, 11:39 AM) oil actually cause any short circuiting rite...if my chemistry nt rusty...haha oil doesn't conduct electricity. but apparently oil has also lower thermal conductivity compared to water. unless you can find those oil based thermal conducting coolant. then you won't have any problems in short circuiting and also have good and efficient cooling. summore i remembee awhile ago, ppl where experimenting with Oil Cooling... when all components are in oil. |

thermalright has exceptional build quality, and ur actually paying for your moneys worth. I think everyone would agree with this notion
On oil, well, its a waste of time |

basically wat i saw on pc cooling, air and liquid are more suitable for 24/7 setup... other than tht, such as dri-ice, Liquid Nitros and so on are just for bench'ing, its not practical at all in my opinion... if i not going liquid cooling, sure i also end up thermalright setup... its really perform near wc and even own some lousy TT or CM liquid cooling kit...
