GN posted a video update to the 11700k power limiter review.

TL;DW basically decreases the gap to 5800x(stock) benchmark numbers but still loses out on a majority of games while using more power. Blender was hitting 180W or something..

Which means that is what would be expected from a 11700F with power limit release because he didn’t overclock the K. So that means a $298 cpu got within the gap of the 5800x $450 cpu. Really impressive..

Only time (and reviews) will tell. I’m not getting my hopes up though that Intel will be quite that generous. They do love keeping to their price segmentation MO sweat.gif

Forget abt those preliminary reviews done. actual thing shld give respectable performance once officially released.

Well gamernexus is running on 11700F spec with the 11700K. Dont see any reason why he is complaining about thermals too when it’s running below 60C with 21C ambient with 280mm aio.... means it will below 80C in malaysia on a 120mm aio (280 vs 120 worst case is 10C gap). that’s actually about the same as a 3700x’s thermals.

180w blender render is actually lower than 10700F btw.... and powerlimit on intel can be released even with h410 boards. The segmentation is mostly to allow messing with the multiplier which a B560 board for the target market doesn’t need.

This score is pretty convincing already in price/performance eventho there’s still a lot of things can be improved without touching the multiplier.

I guess this guy got some beef with intel as he’s consistently trying to cap the performance or find some irrelevant flaws. He used to publish highly OCed intel benchmarks that sometimes surpass competing OCed ryzen.. but somehow not this time.

Probably for future content when the NDA is lifted. If I was a content creator and I wanted to milk everything out of Intel’s release I would wait as well.

True ... technically these videos are basically clickbaits with no real life representation of the reviewed sample lol... might as well call it a 11700F review.

just to share how stable this cpu is
hybrid sleep on desktop works even on unstable ram. lol

i was clocking 5333cl20 tight. left the comp to run some ram test. the test failed in 40mins and later since it was not doing anything it went to sleep. came back just move mouse comp woke up instant windows...

telling ya now already. better hope b560 be decent. pair that say 11700f .. ram 4800c19 djr DR.
its bliss dude..

until now i dont see the need to oc. all core 4.8 is sufficient

Yeap this is what i felt too.. those 4.8ghz all core already cannot tell apart from the fastest. It's already faster than the more expensive AMD 5600x. With some ram tweaking, dont even need go to 4800, 3866-4266 also good enough to get very solid frames.

That's why im leaning more to 11700F over 11700K or should I just wait for alderlake price slash 11900K hahaha.

even if B560 not decent enough, can always get an old discounted z490 that has pcie gen4.

one question to ask sifu here.

currently i am using a i7-10700f with a msi z490-a pro mb, but my processor boost always just cap at 4.6ghz cant reach the max turbo boost event when i stress the processor.

how can i make it always on the max boost clock speed??

Cant.. that 4.8ghz is single core boost. It does reach there occasionally if you check your hwinfo logs. But all core will only get to 4.6ghz... it's technically the same as AMD.

of course go for more cores lol.... 11600K infact is arguably hotter than the 11700 when overclocked past 5ghz. Faster single core but will still lose overall due to core counts.

though the 11700 limited to max 4.4Ghz all cores, gaming may not be affected that much since the cores can go up to 4.8-4.9Ghz when all cores aren't stressed.

will the CPU boost that high on modern games such as Battlefield V and Warzone?

It will boost when it is needed. It's intel's speed stepping and dont worry, you wont lose performance. If you insist, you can force it to be static in the bios and waste electricity and creating alot of heat. laugh.gif

But the difference of 4.8 and 4.4 is too big too say won't lose performance. So just curious what's the behavior in these modern games.
