to my experience, you can't get 1:1 speed on wifi if you extend it either via repeater or mesh. means if you on 500mbps plan, you can't get 500mbps too if you use mesh with wifi backhaul, unless via LAN (ethernet backhaul). even the good Asus XT8, the most someone quote is he get 500++ from his 800mbps plan (assume 590/800 = 74%). maybe wait for a few more years when the new technology come. oh no.. you re quoting it from me. I'm getting 500mbps only because of not wifi 6 devices.. just iphone X.. if I'm using LAN at node I can get 700Mbps (speedtest app only and not iPerf) which is far from router with 2 wall, different floor and about 10 meters.. the test just using speedtest client which is not accurate one.. The right method in testing speed must use iPerf.. I dont want to continue the argument in previous thread with you because you're not understand much with wifi..

not referring to anyone bro. just a message or point to him that impossible he can get 1:1 of his subscription speed if he extend the network with wifi mesh or extender, correct me....unless on LAN cable or ethernet backhaul. i admit i'm don't know much on wifi since my era with internet only begin late 90's.

why impossible?
if subscribe 100 mbps and tri band mesh system with dedicated band for back haul.
Should be easy to get 500 mbps on wifi but you only subscribe to 100 mbps

Nothing to do with 1:1. Think of his internet connection as a pipe, fatter pipe give faster flow. The wifi connection is another pipe. That pipe can be bigger than the internet connection pipe.

Extending with mesh is connecting multiple pipes to each other, as long as the thinnest pipe is as fat as the internet connection pipe he can get 1:1 speed. Depends on which is the thinnest pipe (which is why ethernet backend is almost always better, but a strong 5G backend is almost as good).

Extender on the other hand is well known to halve the speed of the wifi. But if the wifi pipe before extender is double the fatness of the internet pipe, this isn't really a problem.

Of course, for gaming the longer the pipe the more latency la.... but that's a different thing from speed (pipe size).

Using TM stock router? Fully fibre or Cooper line?

cooper line

Mine more or less OK but I did notice slowdowns off and on. Turning IPv6 helps in some cases.

thanks and will try that

How much did they charge you when you install them ?

How much does it cost ? can buy own self ?
If we didn't want to run on the roof , how much can a fiber optic bend ?

If we do not plan to pay , what kind of wall mounting tm install will install ? any picture example ?

Microduct (500Meter) HDPE 10/6mm RM229.00 based on Shopee. Price may vary depending on shop and amount purchased.

No planning to pay? Request for standard installation.
They will use cable clip or raceway casing(not all contractor will do this).

Ok, cooper line is not stable sometimes compared to fibre line.

Hope this make clear of you.

In future you may try find area that use FTTH, fully fibre to home and you will see big different.

I think 100Mbps is actually enough.

If still using stock router from TM, it is better to change the router as the stock one can't handle the multiple wi-fi connection efficiently.

I just installed unifi basic 30mbps recently, realized the wifi kept dropping intermittently on mobile.
Tried changing channel but no changes
Also realized the stock router heats up quite fast.

I have yet to complain to unifi, should i try complaining first or just change the router altogether? Or could it be a modem problem?

PS: still in my first trial month, according to unifi can cancel anytime

Hello TM & UNIFI fans!! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I'm currently doing a short survey on Digital Technology impact to the Malaysian Telco industry.

Lowyat would be the best place to get opinion on our local market as most you guys here are tech savvy and this subforum specifically discussing on this .

Would appreciate if you guys can help me answer this short survey.. should take more than 15 mins ya... icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

You may refer to the installation guide

https://unifi.com.my/installation/allaboard.pdf

In ceiling is optional installation
*
I know about the installation but I wanted real picture.
I can't even find a single installation picture of unifi using standard installation even on previous tread.

I wonder , where I can find them ? goolge search image does not have any result too for standard installation.

If don't plan to pay or buy any microduct , just standard installtion , why does the contractor will not do it ?
It's standard and free ?

Standard is free, basically they would just install the fiber cable on the surface of the wall, I believe the fiber cable is black as well

so , they did not give out raceway ?
why no one had post a single phone for standard installation at all ?

I really hope someone would post thier standard installation picture.
and how much can they bend the fiber if run through a long distant ?
