Hi guys,
Just placed an order for the CS3030 1TB drive and saw it comes installed with a heat spreader on top. I am using a B460 Tomahawk that has its M.2 Shield Frozr, and was wondering if I can install the M.2 shield directly on top of the CS3030 with heat spreader? I also saw some reviews saying that the M.2 shield actually increases temp, but that appears to be an older version. Thanks!

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jan 21 2021, 10:17 AM) i really hope not. previously i thought crucial will do something about it. nothing happened :/ QUOTE(skylinelover @ Jan 21 2021, 12:48 PM) Awww this suck yeah. 3d x-point is good stuff, with damn high endurance ratings. all they need to do is to enhance speed. with that decision, it means we need to pay the price of dc grade optane ssds if we wanna use 3d x-point technology. i guess they thought professionals have pci-e 4.0 nand-based nvme ssds covered.

DRAMless NVME not so bad as DRAMless SATA due to having HMB for mapping table but still not as good as NVME with DRAM QUOTE In this paper, we studied the effects and roles of the HMB in commercial DRAM-less SSDs that support the HMB feature. We first experimentally showed that commercial DRAM-less SSDs have worse I/O performance than SSDs with internal DRAM, but they can improve it when using the HMB feature of NVMe. Because the internals of SSDs is usually not known, we also presented several methods that can analyze experimentally how the HMB is used to improve the I/O performance in DRAM-less SSDs. Experimental results show that DRAM-less SSDs used in our works mainly use the HMB for caching the address mapping table rather than the read cache or write buffer. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?i...al.pone.0229645 This post has been edited by xxboxx: Jan 24 2021, 02:08 PM

Insanely high TBW rating.

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Jan 31 2021, 12:21 PM) That's slow. This is the 512GB rated speed sigh, my system should also be pci gen 3 since the cpu is intel gen 7, but it is not even half your speed! Where did I go wrong as I don't see any other option to make it faster.
