QUOTE(gedebe @ Jan 31 2021, 11:03 PM) sigh, my system should also be pci gen 3 since the cpu is intel gen 7, but it is not even half your speed! Where did I go wrong as I don't see any other option to make it faster. That's the WD SN520 512GB specification. What's your motherboard model?

I'm planning to upgrade my current m.2 NVME 1TB setup by adding another 1TB 2.5" SSD to store games (Steam, Origin etc).
What's a good 2.5" SSD 1TB brand out there? Specifically value for money ones. Thanks LYN!

QUOTE(gomok @ Feb 2 2021, 10:57 AM) adding another 1TB 2.5" SSD to store games Get 2TB instead. Then you won't have to worry about running out of space Unless you're the type who just install lots of games to make it seems like your PC has a lot of games ready to be played but most of the time you don't actually play all of them

Games collection are quite large, especially the EA Play games (Currently playing a lot of sports games). Not including personal & family pictures / videos as well. 2TB might be required, but looking at the current pricing, not much of a different getting 1TB now and then adding another one later. I think so? Or am I not making any sense haha.

I took a leap of faith with the 2TB, fortunately it came with the original controller. Heard that it affect the 1TB model though.

At first it is max speed as the files that being read but not yet written is placed in cache first, due to the actual write speed is slower. After the cache is full then it will show the actual write speed. Cache can be either DRAM on SSD or PC's RAM, depends on your SSD model. What is the average top speed and the average slow speed? What's your PC's SSD model?
