Btw,
do NVM and Shop reset before you turning back TV (resetting all email and passwords).

Many suggest after firmware update to do Reset Shop and is no bad, just must type all emails and passwords back,
picture/sound settings bring to default and DTV channels must scan again....but most important all application from previous firmware are untouch.
Is better then factory reset in which you lost all application (except TCL default app) .

Then I'm really glad I'm returning both units to him including the cracked screen one. I don't know whether it's the manufacturer or that seller now but I just pity the next person getting it.

I'll make sure I search for the service menu first and access the Cumulative RunTime next time when I get a new TV.

This Running time is for first TV or second cracked screen TV ?

First one (received on Tuesday) but I didn't use much also after that.

2nd one (received on Thursday) is the cracked one. That one, I never bother to switch on at all. The moment I open the box, all packets were opened already then, the TV screen was also cracked so just put back inside the box straight. Never plug in cos no point.

Make the order for this C716 as well today.
Saw the it at retail shop and compare to other brand like skyWXXX, PANASXXX, TCL blue color not so deep...

i notice this tv has grey dirty effect / smudge.. u can clearly see it when all grey color but not the other colour.. once u realize it then it will iritate you.. should i contact tcl for this issue? i read on the internet many tv has this issie too..

1. What is your current setting on your C716 TV, I am using Smart HDR most of the time.
2. Can some Sifu here share the website where to read more about the TCL TV Firmware, my out the box is V606 but when I do OTA upgrade, it always says I have the latest firmware already.
3. Did any Sifu here installed Movie HD apk? and how to get it to work on Android TV?
4. How to enable Dolby ATMOS on C716? So far never see it on all the content I watch on Youtube or Netflix. I did try to watch Dolby content on Youtube but the ATMOS LOGO on-screen never pop up....

1. I use recommended setting as guide by rtings.com for TCL TV which is Movie mode

3. To sideload non playstore app, you have to download app call Downloader by AFTVnews or Send file to TV, enable app can install in Setting>Security.



3.1 I use Downloader to search, download and install app. Then I install Aptoide TV to install app that suitable for Android TV, such as Disney+ and XCIPTV Player.
4. If you don't have Dolby ATMOS compatible AV or sound bar, you can't experience the sound. However, app on TV as for now, only Prime Video, Jack Ryan, Episode 1 will deliver Dolby ATMOS.

4.2 I bought local Dolby ATMOS 5.1.2 sound bar made by A&S during 11.11 sale and I bought new Chromecast with Google TV which can play Netflix with Dolby Vision & Dolby ATMOS (selected titles) even I'm using 10Mbps Unifi Lite.

can i know.how to only using 1 button volume instead of 2 remote in same time?using samsung tv before,direct connect optical cabel tv to soundbar,and using mibox in same time,can control soundbar using remote,but after change tcl tv standalone without mibox.tv sound still appear,.

use ARC HDMI on TV to ARC HDMI on sound bar (if available).

Open TV setting, the button on TCL remote. Select System>T-Link, switch ON.
Or, Android setting>Input>HDMI CEC, select ON.

Btw, in shot...

1. I using Low Power mode
2. Any firmware can be upgrade (or downgrade) by USB FAT32 (NTFS also working) by About/Local Update....
Zip file should be copy to USB (V8-R851T02-LF1V620.018337.zip) , sometime need to change USB.
3. I downloaded any (TV) app in my PC, then copy to USB, insert USB on TV and by TV Guard/App manager install.
No need additional app to do this. Beside Netflix (Prime I disabled), I got Plex, Sofa TV, MagellanTV,...etc
4. Agree with @smaelz83....btw, Netflix Dolby Vision...no Atmos.....YouTube only HDR10/HLG.... no Atmos.

Apps which I didn't use I disabled or deleted by ADB_AppControl, as is easy to use.
Need app and adb driver for you PC.

Edit:
With ADB_AppControl you can also install any app (from PC..no need USB as discribed above) or save app from your TV to your PC.

I'm using 4k UHD Blu-ray player...the TV will display Atmos logo when playing Atmos enabled movies.

[Review] My quick review of TCL 50" C716 QLED 4k TV

Tested on firmware: V389

Overall:
Good TV with an exceptional panel for it's price, but comes with few major caveats it being a cheaper model

Color:
SDR: Out of box SDR color accuracy is poor, SDR color volume also seems to be low, overly saturated by default. This is mostly caused by backlight eco mode, turning it off improves color alot, would recommend keeping it off. Native color profile also helps

HDR: HDR color accuracy and color volume is amazing, white point is nearly perfect with excellent dynamic range. HDR / Dolby Vision videos on Youtube and games look really good

For some strange reason Netflix is not showing proper HDR; even when Dolby Vision tag is displayed. This is apparent from colors. Apparently Netflix's mastering of HDR content is pretty poor as same videos / clips on youtube HDR / Dolby Vision show significantly better

Gradient handling is okayish, can see minimal banding

Brightness & Panel Uniformity:
Brightness in HDR is mediocre, details don't pop as they should but images still pack a punch due amazing colors
Backlight bleed is minimal, slight darkening in edges and some foggy areas in upper left, unnoticeable during content play

Motion:
Motion handling is not good, there is visible ghosting when navigating fire tv menus but during gaming it's a bit better; nothing spectacular. Slight flicker in some content. VRR is missing, which is expected at this price range; but 120Hz is also missing which is a loss imo

Viewing Angles:
Viewing angles are poor, sitting at 8 ft away from tv the image starts to wash out even if I move more than 3 ft away from dead center

Audio:
Audio on built-in speakers is decent but there's ~100ms audio delay on internal speakers which is annoying, same issue happens even if I use optical out

System & UI:
UI is pretty laggy compared to LG etc., processor being so slow that Kodi is practically unusable at 4k. But, this is a non-issue for me as I use Fire TV mostly. Even with that, TV has restarted multiple times during it's use and YouTube exhibits an annoying bug in HDR whereby TV would intermittently switch in / out of HDR while playing content

Performance with Consoles:
Xbox looks amazing, HDR games like Forza, Doom, TitanFall look absolutely amazing; lack of brightness is felt but that's a given in this price range. Nintendo Switch looks a bit over saturated in SDR by default, but looks amazing nonetheless. 120Hz is missing so that's a huge loss for gaming, do keep this in mind when considering it with next gen consoles

Weird...I've been watching 4k content using Kodi with no problem what so ever....

I'm afraid it might mess up the white point, but I will give it a try over the coming weekend

Which firmware you're on? I'm using kodi to play 4k HDR content from my htpc over samba; UI becomes sluggish if video is playing in the background. Fire TV remains a lot more responsive with the exact same content.
