why so in a hurry to get the car? it's already dec. clearly Proton can't deliver to most of the buyers. also you lose 1 year from the residual value. unless you got no car to use now, i don't see why rush or get so agitated about the delivery. but most importantly, don't kena the sales tricks about buying the package. with X50 & X70, the salesmen are earning enough. dun play their game

Because we are looking to save 5-6k on the SST, we are not looking to sell the car hence resale value doesn't bother us much. At least for me...

Agree, I already expected to sell the car after 5 years so no difference for me. All I want is to save the SST amount that’s it.

You care about resell value only if you are buying a car that hold “value” otherwise you wouldn’t even want proton

Agreed on resale value. In my case, had a look for ckd x70 early this year. But hold for it due to pkp. Make a booked on June 20 when gomen threw in SST of rm7k for premium x. Had a look at x70 car club lowyat, someone shared SA with additional rebates under his own. So got another 4k rebate.
I just paid lrm1k+ for a 10% deposit after all the rebates on my x70 premium x.

Are you sure X50 will not have good resale value?

I barely find any used x70, even if there is I don't see any x70 selling anywhere below 80k

One can argue X70 is new, but still undeniably true that demand>supply for Proton SUV

These geely platform cars will no doubt have higher resale value than previous proton cars. The question is only if they can be higher than the top 3 brand Perodua Toyota and Honda.
If owners plan not to change the car in 5 or 6 years time, resale value doesn't matter much for year end cars. Look at those current 2011 and 2012 used cars, they don't diff more than RM 5k 6k.
Don't forget RM 5k 6k over 8 9 years of interest will accumulate to how much.
The SST exemption can easily offset the depreciation value.

For sharing, this morning I just got the queuing list for X50 from the 3S branch in Penang.

Guess which is most favourite color and least color for the flagship?

Based on the incomplete list, around 4X% out of 2XX cars from that branch are white color.
Surprisingly, ~3X% are cash buyer.

The least color is actually Ocean Blue, only 1 in the list.

I'm ordering Citrus Orange, I'm among the top on the list out of the 8 order.

So for those who wanted to to jump que, I guess getting Ocean Blue maybe faster.

white color and black color is favorite color globally, not surprising la. so if take white will be slower one.

Strange. When I am abroad, no matter if China or Europe I am always suprised almost no white cars on the street at all. What a difference when coming back home to Malaysia.

According to my SA at my branch Red is by far the most booked color for Flagship. Silver and Blue are the least booked. The Red is really a nice red and only for flagship, guess this is the reason.

Red is available for Premium as well.

I am not too optimistic about the resell value of X50 or X70 five years from now.

They are the frontrunners of a new automobile era, but for example many of the new gadgets of the X50 flagship now will be standard very fast and the technique will be much more mature very fast. Level 2 semi-autonomous driving is amazing now but it will be outdated very fast.

Anyway, I want to have fun now, so I take the risk of being a testdriver for a new technology. And I don´t think about the resell value too much, otherwise - sorry - I would not buy a Proton. Also for Geely it will take a long time to get the reputation of Toyota or Honda. I think we talk here not about years but decades. But sure, I would not consider a Proton at all if not Geely stands behind. Actually (If I don´t cancel because of SST) it is my first Malaysian car ever after Japanese, Korean and German. Fingers crossed.

This is how Proton doing business right now.
First, they only put flagship at showroom for you to test and their intention is to "poison" you
2nd, no matter how early you book, they only produce the highest 2 spec for the customer first because they know youtube will have all these video and helping them to promote
3rd, the current production that they are having is already bundled with the so called RM3500 package, so they force dealer to only give to those customer who wanna pay for it

conclusion is they will win no matter what, no money no talk
the only turnaround is 50% or higher from the booking made being cancel but do you think its possible? hahaha

well losing 1 year of value if only people dont keep changing car every 5 years, some more at this target group...saving few k from the loan can be seen quiet big. but then saw many more than capable going for it so i guess only the bottom level of the group affected haha still hoping

I dont think cancelling is a problem, but if what you are looking of the SST deduction, you should have cancelled earlier and move on to other cars that can deliver within 2020.

Cancel now actually wont benefit you anything. Unless you need a spanking new car asap. X50 is the best of it's price currently, if you are looking for H or T, go ahead and book them now... when that car is ready, only then cancel X50.

On the matter of extending SST exemption, my guts feeling is it wont extend. The gomen had done enough for auto industry... motor tax is good money, take them and put at other place needed.
