Hi fellow LYN future X50 owners!

I have just did a complete, indepth all you need to know video (in bahasa) regarding to x50 maintenance and future repairs.

In the video i highlighted this key points

- cost and parts specification that needs to be replaced during the interval service and estimation of full service cost for 5 years/100k

- compare some differences between the specification of parts between x50 and geely coolray

- cost for wear and tear item such as battery, tyres, timing belts and carbon cleaning

- most important!, Cost estimation for major parts and components (turbo, gearbox, sensors, etc2) which is not in the wear n tear list, which u might need to replace incase of an accident or if your warranty has finished or void, or even if you get fedup with the parts waiting time..

I hope this video will be very beneficial for upcoming new owners of this X50 and those who are still considering of getting one soon.

*
I would suggest to add in Engine Mounting parts price, its one of the concern many raised to cater the engine vibration

So far i cannot find the price for the engine mounting yet
*
Yeah i also find it hard to find, and I don't see any complaint about the mounting or replacement.. maybe the car is still quite new, but the good news is maybe the mounting is good for at least 2 years and still counting.

By the way good video thumbsup.gif

is there anyone test drive the premium? Wondering will it be a very big difference in terms of the power compare with flagship since flagship is using TGDi engine.
*
The number look significant, considering that less than 10 HP difference in Myvi already can be felt, but of course Myvi is lighter..

A bit surprise to see this 15.T MPI output is slightly lower than their in house 1.4T MPI in some ways

X50 parts actually look expensive to me considering they R&D and made in China even it is purchased at China like the video shown earlier.

If it was from other 1st world country like German, Japan I can understand.

Got another alternative to x50 if you don't want

Yaris facelift. From 71k to 90k i think
*
Yeah quite a well spec Car I would say with 360/collision warning and most importantly Android Auto & Apple Car Play ready

Downside gonna be
-Low engine output for its engine standard
-Boring interior
-Smaller car compared to X50
-No rear A/C vent

Yes,that the trade off if you need, much more reliable transmission, reliable engine,  and maybe more fun handling? Due to it being a hatchback. And also lower maintenance cost
*
If compared side by side the pricing, you actually get full spec of Yaris at the price of Exec X50 which Yaris have the 360/Android Auto (Mayb better camera)
collision warning and stuffs. But still many would argue the CVT and Engine is not attractive and its a different segment car.

But in term of getting more value for the runs of the 85k, Yaris seems like a good alternative to X50 Exec variant.

So in the end of the day, to get the most from X50, go for Flagship, you will be totally incomparable to any cars available at the moment.

proton said if the manufacturing date is 2020, then entitle to the exemption. even if register in Jan 2021. that's what i remember from the media preview.
*
I apprached 3 SA as of now, One of the SA I approached said quite sure price won't go up next year while the rest having mixed respond like denying to comment any further and a lady said confirm will increase.

I usually adjust it in a way I won't see my car at all to reduce the blind spot. This feels pretty bad but of course your view will differ depending on how you sit and your height.
*
But X50 uses Curved mirror right? The viewing angle is pretty wide

I dont recommend anyone to try replacing the camera as some of ADAS features make use of them. If the cameras are not placed back at the precise angle, it'll affect the system accuracy. Unless outside vendors know how to recalibrate the system, it's better to just leave it as it is.
And for sure it'll void the warranty for the whole ADAS system at least.

If you can wait better wait, mayb they will facelift 2 years later with all those functions you said if looking at X70 trend, unless the Perodua SUV takes a big hit till they have to be competitive again because X50 considered not much different to X70 in term of purchasing power, many do not have the luxury, this is not an affordable car.

More new cars coming, if priced closely or lower than X50 many will drop booking, especially the Perodua's D55L will sure affect the booking.

Oh yes! If Proton decides to hike up the prices for 2020 bookings from that day many other brands will come with very sexy offers to make you cancel your booking and move over to them whistling.gif

If I would be Perodua I would give everyone RM 500 extra discount for the D55L who comes over to them with the receipt for the X50 booking cool2.gif

Anyway, I am still optimistic that Proton will keep the price for my booking and deliver the car mid 2021. If they not keep the price, I am not angry, I just take back my RM 500 and wait for the next car I fall in love with. I know that it will happen sooner or later biggrin.gif

Many maker is stepping up their game, they may not have everything X50 offered, but mayb most of the essential one like Collision Warning,
Blindspot warning sort of stuff will be made available.

Meanwhile X50 is not flawless on its own as a few pointed out that Android Auto/Apple Car play is not available, people who used Android Auto/Carplay may find it hard to be pleased with car that do not comes with it. Plus X50 is also hiding a few tricks up their sleeves saving some other premium feature like ambient lightning, paddleshifter, which available from mainland to be released for next facelift.

Quite Positive they will not increase the price, it is a sensitive range to played with, believe they understand there is a few rivals cooking something to take a piece from X50.

Someone did a calculation before this though. Let's say the SST is 2000 (probably will be more) and there's 10,000 undelivered booked car by the end of the year. That means Proton needs to fork out 20million just to absorb the SST. Will they do so? I highly doubt it.
*
Depends on their focus, don't forget they have a goal to take on market share in Malaysia then eventually Asia, They can't let the rivals take a huge chunks from them, the launch of the Perodua D55L may be far off in term of specs and performance, but it will hit the right spot to those who bought the entry level variant depending how well it is packaged against X50, not impossible they will absorb the SST, not putting a big hope but there is a possibility to it especially seeing how much the price range of X50 have crossed X70 range.

*edit: the introduction of SST may not be huge different, but it definitely will leave a bad taste in their mouth for those who have placed a booking and eventually consider turning to the rivals.

turned down already. i want the features. and all orange doesn't look good. dual tone only then niceeee.
*
Agree, Orange and Red need dual tone only nice..

BTW the Red, Orange and White is not metallic?

Speaking of SA knowledge, they claim all Metallic even they don't seems to be..

If they weren't sure about something at least tell us they not sure need to check or their assumption than falsely claim something that is not about it.

By the way wanna check X50 have function to switch to side mirror camera mode when switching on signal?
One of the SA say cannot, and I thought its a common feature... maybe I was wrong.

Yup those colors are solid. Metallic only jet grey and blue i think (for now). X50 side camera will turn on when u signal
*
Weird, the last time I test drive it is not activated when I signal... not sure is it turned off or what.

Then that SA said X50 don't have one... only X70 have dry.gif

Just got the car today, white flagship. Overall love the car very much. I think no need to mention the positive aspects about the car as everyone already knows. So i'll just list down some of the negatives/quality issues here:

1. 360 camera quality really sucks, just like my other 3rd gen Myvi.

2. Driver's side mirror angle adjustment too limited (issue already mentioned by someone in previous post).

3. Door assembly/fittings slightly not aligned. Same with some chrome trims.

I'm not complaining, just pointing out there's still room for improvement in terms of quality.
*
Congrats! Keep us posted how you felt about the car like fuel consumption or sort... most likely gonna skyrocket for first 2 service
because engine not run in yet + adaption to the car behavior, when just got the car sure have the urge to Revsss thumbup.gif

Some owners who took car advised to feedback to proton and let the SC do their job 1st, instead do any installation of door visor or rubber around the door.
*
Agreed, If say wind noise at windows probably run channel related issue can be fixed.

Door Visor will only make more wind noise, not recommended.

IMO, NVH is good on this one with the Continental, not sure about the Giti
