Are you sure X50 will not have good resale value?

I barely find any used x70, even if there is I don't see any x70 selling anywhere below 80k

One can argue X70 is new, but still undeniably true that demand>supply for Proton SUV
*
You are missing my point. Why would you buy proton if you care so much about resale value ? They are not the brand that holds value at least since decades ago before X70 comes.

Even if X70 onwards creates different in Proton brand value, it will only apply on newer model like X50 but don’t you put up high hopes.

re SST exemptions, yes, i dont think govt will extend
but i think proton will honor the sale/booking made in 2020, even if you get the car in 2021
I dont think Proton/Dealer/SA will want to tell the customer that they car will only arrive in 2021 & on top of that customer need to pay tax
anyway, just wait for official announcement from Proton & govt

on other note, my car already arrive in showroom & doing tinting now
will collect Saturday morning

booked 16 Sept
JetGrey Premium
didnt take package

I agree. You won't be thinking of resale value when you purchase a Proton car.

Usually, you'd buy a Proton due to the value it gives to YOU.

For me, Proton cars usually gives me the best value (subjective to each individual) for the money spent.

Being a decently kitted, comfortable & a nice car to drive relatively to the price, are what I value most.

If not, better get a Perodua.

* Still waiting for that Executive X50 (T_T)

Guys, please make apple to apple comparison.

1. Resale Value compare with other cars at around 100k price point.

2. If one is comparing Perodua resale value with this car, means you are at Perodua level affordability.

3. When someone buying 100k price point car, resale value should not be your main concern, if it is, you are still stucked at Perodua price point car, go
get an Axia or a used Kancil, sure won't rugi.

4. This car Resale value will still beats all other same price point car, regardless what gonna come for the next 5 years, everyone who bought alternate car at the same time with you will suffer more loss in term of resale value, because X50 is the best value for money SUV now. You can be 1 step backward in technology for the next 5 years, but the rivals are 2 to 3 steps backward compared to X50.

5. Resale value don't depend totally on brand, it's heavily depending on model.

Compare real time, if you buy X50 today vs if you buy say HRV today
Unless X50 suddenly have major quality fail which don't seems to be the case because it was quite well perceived in China and Philippines

So far no major problem reported from China and Philippines, should be pretty steady..

While we talk about depreciation and stuff, people even willing to sapu Display unit without any discounts I presume, not sure any buyer willing to buy Display unit
like that for other cars..

While there are some worry about the engine mounting durability and service, Axia also have very shaky 3 pot engine what, but its selling well with good RV

If you were to compare HRV and X50, you would need Flagship X50 to beat HRV because Flagship is the only variant have ‘enough’ features that outperform HRV.

So yea like you mentioned, it varies but in overall X50 (especially lower variant) won’t hold value as much as you expected.

Not really. Even Executive variant already can compete with HRV.

HRV does not even have Honda sensing. Only V spec have blind spot monitoring.

Actually for the matter of fact after the x50 was launched you could see so many started selling their HR-V online. Just search it up, why the sudden surge of sellers yet still being listed? What happened to its resale value? Nobody grabbing those used car good deals? whistling.gif

is ok for car nowadays to not switch off the aircond before switch off the engine?
straight away switch off engine so that when you remote start the car, the aircond will automatically switch on

I believe if you have remote engine start feature by factory, you should be able to configure your car to switch on air conditioning upon remote start like Civic so leaving aircon on is not necessary.

for x50, my SA told me that if we want aircond auto on when start engine using remote, aircond must be on when previous engine off

ie

aircond off
switch off engine
remote start engine
aircond off

aircond on
switch off engine
remote start engine
aircond auto on

Yes, you don't have to switch off aircon before turning off engine. When next time you start the car, you will notice the aircon will only turn on moments later after ignition.

Can only be done through Proton link, not the remote.

Yes, correct. Therefore I never switch off the aircon.

So, I actually cancelled my earlier booking (personal reasons) but now want to make a new booking. The same SA told me it's 6 months waiting period sweat.gif

Any dealer to recommend that has less waiting time?

Flagship variant, snow white.
