QUOTE(horns @ Oct 23 2020, 09:42 PM) for that budget, you can try this one, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=536060210170 Wow that plate looks dodgy as heck. And some of the pics show the diodes are so close to the switch pins, really need to be mindful about it when soldering.however, be warned that there are risks getting these budget kits. Interesting shop though. It has a full alu 100%, integrated plate, Kailh hotswap, SMD RGB, plate mounted stabs. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....id=583494774730 Again, questionable quality though. The last pic with the numpad shows at least 2 badly aligned switches. The 2U Zero/Insert is super obvious. horns liked this post

(the changes were not significant imo)but i read someone here said that downside of topre is less customization + astronomical pricing. but the feels, hnngghhhh. cant get it elsewhere mannn. i didn't get hasu controller, mainly because i barely use it haha |

Hey guys, I've trying using air duster on 1 of my key. But problem come back again after a while. The same key will randomly register multiple times or wont register when pressed.
Just wondering should I use WD-40 Contact Cleaner and spray the inside of the switch? |

The same key will randomly register multiple times or wont register when pressed. you can but this doesn't mean you should. (to me, it's the last resort) alternatively, try the air duster trick again.Just wondering should I use WD-40 Contact Cleaner and spray the inside of the switch? imo a better solution is to open the switch up, and clean (maybe lube) it properly; or simply just replace it. |

QUOTE(joedpa82 @ Oct 25 2020, 10:54 AM) IMO a good starting option is Kemove's Snowfox. Their updated snowfox is not bad for a 60% keyboard. Budget about rm300+ and you its hotswap ready. But hot swap or not is preference i guess. I am currently waiting for mine to arrive, shipping is damn slow these days. btw, Hi guys, new to this thread and hobby. QUOTE(joedpa82 @ Oct 20 2020, 03:37 PM) Hi guys. IINM custom full sized boards are very expensive Trying to build a custom 104 mechanical keyboard for wife's work. She types a lot. Want to diy a 104 mechanical keyboard for her. Can recommend case, pcb and such. Please provide link. Switch would be outemu silent white. No need back light and such. Budget around rm300. I think you are better off finding a swappable keyboard instead, like what niakulah said Also, another option is to DIY 80% keyboard, then DIY another numpad Too bad full sized boards are not popular in the MKB community (myself also prefers full size boards too, never liked those super small ones) |

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Oct 27 2020, 12:57 PM) IINM custom full sized boards are very expensive yes market demand is the main driver to the growth of mkb choices. since most people prefer smaller form factors and preferred layouts, these custom kits are more common because of that, compared to the full-size. I think you are better off finding a swappable keyboard instead, like what niakulah said Also, another option is to DIY 80% keyboard, then DIY another numpad Too bad full sized boards are not popular in the MKB community (myself also prefers full size boards too, never liked those super small ones) for instance, i use 64-key 60% for a few years already. it's long proven that i don't need any other direct keys for my daily usage. i very seldom touch the additional keys on 65% or beyond as well. |

I know mkbs are all about preferences, would just like to know. Since way back I've been hearing mostly praises about topres.topre is not my cup of tea. i prefer mx style switches more. |
