How many times would you dare to desolder a board? What's a safe limit in your opinion?

I just lifted a pad in my cospad the other day....I think I was desoldering it for the 3rd time.
*
i believe 3 times. i did few the second time. (dz60, yd60mq)

if shit happened, then it's time to learn wire jumping haha

I only done once soldering back at high school , and i think it's been 8 years since then. I not really sure how to desolder and solder.... Youtube makes it looks easy... but i afraid i might mess up and destroy my keyboard's pcb, like the pad (contact hole on pcb ) raised... any idea to avoid that?

My Keyboard is G613, it's mounted on a plate ( i think it's metal painted in black ), and i read somewhere after desolder , have to use some plier or tweezer to remove and gently too....

lol... how to avoid that? how it got damaged? too hot? or the soldering iron touched too long?

and got specific solder wire to use? or the one included in the kit is sufficient?

i think its the mixture of all the above.

its sufficient. just dont leave the iron doing nothing for too long.
gets oxidize easy so tip no good. so bad soldering job. so damage board.

Recently my G613 got few keys starting to not responding, double type, or even triple... ( numpad area ), including the Enter Key from Numpad too... when it's not working, i pop off the keycap, blow into it, and it works for a while before back into not working. same for other keys... what's wrong?

I used Contact Cleaner, alcohol too.
*
I hoped you used some kind of blower instead of physically blowing into it. Our breathes has water vapour in it, technically accelerates the oxidisation process.

I would say pretty unlimited if it's a good, properly made PCB, provided you do it right with the right tools. I've used a dead Razer as a "switch leg solder cleaner" for countless times of soldering and desoldering (just to get switch legs cleanly desoldered after desoldering from unleaded solder boards) and the pads are still intact, no signs of damage.

I used Visbella Electronic cleaner, and then used hair dryer in cold to accelerate the drying.

It works fine for a day and then back to no register, double/triple type.

If you had used some form of contact cleaner, it's fine, just don't go blowing our breath into the switches, albeit, it's a common mistake most of us do.

Will remember that.... you do soldering before?

May i ask your opinion on which switch is better durability/lifespan? Romer G, or Cherry switches?

if you're worried then maybe can get GRexer's help. I recently got his service to desolder a Poker 2 PCB, the man did a damn great job!

Can't say for sure coz I had never had a Romer-G keyboard on my own use but Cherry had been quite reliable on me, but, yeah, sometimes there are "duds/lemons" that wear out prematurely, really depends on the use condition I guess, dust, moisture etc does increases the chances of corrosion.

Repairs I do typically charge per key unless there's a lot and would charge a flat rate for desoldering/soldering fees, but since you had bought some switches and that you're willing to try, yeah, I guess can go ahead.

Those are plate mount stabilisers. Nicknamed panda coz of the colour scheme. Think it was black housing with white stem and gold wires.
