QUOTE(commanderz @ Mar 1 2008, 08:44 PM) ic.........sorry >.< i`m newbie on overclocking pc.......so the Aquagate S1 is prefect for oc until 3.0-3.2 @@?.....gonna buy it and try to OC later.....^^... u can try using the stock cooler to OC first...it should be good for 3.4Ghz. Using an Aquagate for just 3.2Ghz would be an overkill. Try for 3.6ghz instead...thats where it truly shines. |

QUOTE(commanderz @ Mar 1 2008, 08:26 PM) err...need to ask abit question.........is the cooler master Aquagate S1 good to overclock 2.4ghz to 3.0 or 3.2 ghz......@@? Stock HSF on Quad can go to 3ghz~3.2ghz depend on processor itself. For HSF,get Xigmatek SHDT1283 or Tuniq Tower 120,those are awesome cooler |

hi guys, im currently using the Asus Striker Formula 2 780i SLI mobo to try OC my Q6600, but im kinda stuck on 3.2ghz. Even on 3.2ghz, the pc sometime auto reboot itself. ive tried slowly increase the vcore , nb, cpu vtt, +1.2v HT, memory and etc but the problem stil persists so now ive lowered them down bcoz the northbridge seems to be overheating alot when its under load. (80+degree) i really dun understand how i can go 3.6ghz or even 3.4ghz as no matter how much volt i pump into it, just will auto reboot during window loading up screen.
On 3.2ghz, ive manage to run OCCT stable for 3hour so far, but dun know why when i tried orthos(small FFTs / priority 10) it sometime can few hour no problem and sometime can few minutes it will auto reboot. so does this mean my system not stable? a friend told me that my proc has a very low VID, so it suppose to be OC friendly? any advice on what i should be doing next? Could my 8800GTS SLI is causing the problem or my rams? thanks alot.... This post has been edited by [gs]JackMin: Mar 2 2008, 04:55 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

First thing, your NB temperature is too high!!! Get a 3rd party cooler for it. However, even with that, I think it will still be in the 70+ range, which is still high.On 3.2ghz, ive manage to run OCCT stable for 3hour so far, but dun know why when i tried orthos(small FFTs / priority 10) it sometime can few hour no problem and sometime can few minutes it will auto reboot. so does this mean my system not stable? a friend told me that my proc has a very low VID, so it suppose to be OC friendly? any advice on what i should be doing next? Could my 8800GTS SLI is causing the problem or my rams? thanks alot.... Your rams are still within it's limits, including your processor. What's your vcore? Is your CPU PLL supposed to be that high? I think maybe it is your Northbridge strap. What did you set in BIOS? What is the ram multiplier/divider/ratio in BIOS for the Asus Striker? And your southbridge is 1.5v? That very very high. You generally do not need to increase the SB voltage. You can't just increase all the voltages. If you do not know what you're doing, you run the risk of damaging your rig. You can read my guide on step-by-step overclocking for the Q6600, it is in my sig.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 2 2008, 07:01 AM |

Anyone here care to share your setting for the VID when you overclock your Q6600 to 356MHz x 9 = 3.2GHz?

QUOTE(QiW @ Mar 4 2008, 04:49 PM) for me .. 400x8 or 356x9 .. 3.2ghz vcore 1.38-1.40 .. depending on how hot it gets .. i dont have very good cpu cooler If I'm not mistaken, that number quite high for Q6600 @ 3.2GHz, isn't? Or that's the normal VCore? Anyway, can someone elaborate me on how to calculate the VID + amount to be the total VCore? I'm newbie in OCing and only going to try it out today. How should I start? Raise the FSB first or the VID first? |

[gs]JackMin, ur voltage setting for other like SB, except cpu is rather high, i dun believe u need that much running 350+ fsb....that why the temp so high, may be u try to up ur cpu & cpu pll voltage a bit
ur ram got EPP, u cna run at 400mhz at 4,4,4,`5 timing @ 2.0v so should not be a problem, try lower the voltage, btw good proc u got there, VId kind of low my previous reference for 356x9 is around 1.35 or so only.... my proc vid is rather high |

I had gone through your overclocking guide a few times already and I think I'll go through another time today when I really start OCing my rig tonight Calculate VID + vcore? What do you mean? You can try the FSB first to see how high you can OC at stock.... Erm... calculate the VCore when added certain amount of "extra" VID (sorry, forgot what it called You mean I raise the FSB till at a level where I failed to POST or load Windows? |

Raise your FSB until you get errors in prime95 (while stressing your rig)...... However, my method of overclocking is in windows and not in BIOS..... only the final settings will be set in BIOS.... My specification is as on my siggie. So, in another way you mean raise the FSB till gets error in Prime95. Then raise my VID Special Add if I wanted to go higher and then continue push my FSB, error, increase VID Special ADD... till I get my desired speed and stability? |

So, in another way you mean raise the FSB till gets error in Prime95. Then raise my VID Special Add if I wanted to go higher and then continue push my FSB, error, increase VID Special ADD... till I get my desired speed and stability? oopss.... my guide was based on gigabyte mobo with easytune5. For my DFI blood iron, I used the app "SetFSB".... however you need to know your mobo's clock generator type. My blood iron is "CY28551LFXC"...... you should check yours... Will put a note in my guide about other mobos.... Edit : But you better read the instructions carefully.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 4 2008, 07:46 PM |

is ur Xigmatek install correctly, temp a bit too high.
well u can check ur stock voltage when u installed everything at default. i believe u can push more once u get the cpu temp down abit |

QUOTE(LExus65 @ Mar 5 2008, 11:48 AM) is ur Xigmatek install correctly, temp a bit too high. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my HSF and TIM working well, it's just that the ambient temperature here is really terrible well u can check ur stock voltage when u installed everything at default. i believe u can push more once u get the cpu temp down abit My stock voltage is 1.2000V. I already satisfied at 3.2GHz and doing 1:1 ratio with my DRAM Anyway, my temperature consider high at this stage? |
