As for the way to apply, see this PDF.

I added two more dots to it.

I've replace the Xigmatek S1283 fan with a Panaflo FBA12G12U. That's a 120x120x38mm 114.7cfm fan.

Oh... you used the conventional straight line method with additional two drops (I guess this additional two drops best fits with Xigmatek's HDT design). In the other way around, I used the thin layer (not fully covering the IHS) method with extra small dollop in the middle hmm.gif. Gonna wait till the next time I switch casing only reapply TIM ba, hard work if to remove the HSF now and reapply it while in the casing sweat.gif.

But then, that's blend test for Prime95. Small test is around 60c under aircon.

I see....... I actually put 3 lines of thermal paste, each one on each exposed heatpipe. My thinking is that you want good contacts between the heatpipes and the IHS...... I guess your 2 dots does make the other 2 heatpipes contact better with the IHS..... but not as good as a line!!! whistling.gif

Is the panaflo less noisy? I mean, the Xigmatek is already a 100cfm fan ma.... hmm.gif

I have no experience with P965 mobos but the DQ6 is a really nice mobo. If it can support penryn processors, then it is a good buy.....

Yeah, your rams might be the factor. Why not find the limit for your rams first?

@vearn27
It's quite troublesome when board is assemble in the casing. If not for that I want to install HR-05, I won't bother reapply the TIM as well. tongue.gif

@kmarc
It's more noisier. My casing right now has 3 high performance fans including the Xigmatek's all pushing over 80cfm, another two CoolerMaster low noise fans. Haven't install the Xigmatek inside yet. sweat.gif

based on your screenshot .. definitely not RAM factor .. hehehe
your vcore only 1.232 in CPU-Z .. at BIOS i think at most oso 1.25-1.26 .. this is the one holding u back
but if u do increase vcore .. then your temp will oso increase la no doubt .. but of coz higher clocks lorr tongue.gif

try running OCCT in your current settings .. see if it passes .. coz i couldnt get mine to pass at that kinda of vcore for 3.0ghz .. smile.gif

If vcore , divider set to auto, i manage to clock as far as 3.2GHz+ sweat.gif But running on 4:5 divider hmm.gif

What's the max vcore Q6600 can run anyway? I read some article said that it will run 1.4+ voltage hmm.gif

well, it could boot the NB a looser timings or a looser strap, thus helping it to OC abit more laugh.gif

probable chance for the above happening is 1 in 100 icon_idea.gif

From my email to intel tech support about RMA and warranty:

Hello Bryan,

Thank you for contacting Intel® Customer Support.

Since the maximum recommended voltage for your processor is 1.5 volts and it is running at 1.45 volts, it means that your processor is running under specifications, so the warranty is still valid if it is a retail boxed processor and if it is not older than 3 years.
