Yeah really thinking wether wanna lap this IHS..but so far only different of temp bothers me..but im happy with temperature..if B3 then different story.
*
advise... be extra careful when laping ur s1283, i have done it but it seem like the heatpipe part got too soft after laping... end up ... the heat pipe part got bended in.... doh.gif doh.gif

Added on August 31, 2007, 12:26 pmIm finding out that irregular temps for my different cores on my G0 Q6600. Is there any one else finding the same issue?.

After reseating my HSF on my Q6600 and reapplying MX-2 TIM still have same problem. I think my Processor IHS in bit convex/concave..somehow.  I know my Xigmatek S1283 is not the culprit as i have tried it on my HyperTX HSF with same results.

Example..2.4GHz@3GHz

Core O: 44c
Core 1: 35c
Core 2: 39c
Core 3: 38c

Core 0 difference to Core 0 is about average 7C Degrees..

I did some research and this is how the core is layout on the Q6600.

0 1
2 3

But really think that these irregular temp is not critical as i think generally the Q6600 G0's are good new batch of processor from intel looking at the temps im getting at stock and OC.
*
woot ... i think ur proc have a better batch, mine cant post @ 421*9... hitting wall ald... mine was FPO: L723 can share yours?

i dont think it applies in this case
as pointed out above the clocks is 450x9=3.6

but a lot of ppl dont realise that a lot of times the fsb u get depends on the straps and the ram mhz/timings ( suspect bandwidth stress)

being in sync doesnt neccessarily mean u can get the highest fsb.

example my mobo fsb 456 is the sweet spot.. with this at 1111 CL4 i can get bandwidth close to 10k

if i was to go any higher or even have higher ram speed with tighter timings the bandwidth is less.

Hence u need to find the sweetspot for each mobo.
and overcock from there.
Very evident when u see aquamark scores when bandwidth with low latency timings can account to more than 10fps diifference.
*
so... how's the way to test it out? test each fsb out?

oops.. hmm difficult to type on my aging notebook with the lcd like having stripes of colour... the monitor dieing but still fighting a good fight...

and yes.. overclocking means tweaking

go look at the database
u will find ppl with higher scores at the same mhz.
so many things to consider

even the fsb affects gpu overclocking.
the rams affects the gpu /fsb and vice versa..

we are all learning

better still if u  go to www.ripping.org
dont look at the high clocks..
look at the middle of the table...
*
at 1st i was thinking like got G spot for m/b... wakakkaa jkjk...

u have a nice chip there...can i know wats ur cooling? because with 1.44vcore + TRUE i have 60-62c on prime load at 3.6ghz...maybe if i really can stable at 1.375 i am sure i would have a better temp

@QiW

i am sure u need some voltage for northbridge too...or cpu pll or even fsb vtt stuff...provided u have.
*
i'm using xigmatek hdt s1283

no vdrop etc?
*

btw, the VID theory is just a theory, it cannot be proven due to the fact that 50% of higher VID chips can oc higher

ya some chip might like voltage but some with low vid maybe don like voltage...
