I noe theres an increase la i just wanna ask if the increase is substantial enough to warrant the increase. I mean if you only get a marginal increase then i may leave mine at 2.8 to keep the temperature more manageable.

temp is affected by voltage bro smile.gif
if u 2.8ghz at 1.3v stable, 3.2ghz 1.3v stable oso will give u same temp smile.gif
but for ur info, 2.8 to 3.2 got good improvement bro... quite noticable unlike dual channel n single channel ram where i couldnt even tell the difference...

Using 1.7v asking for trouble, waiting for your processor to be burnt, not all q6600 can go that high, more over to get to 4.3g u must understand what cooling they are using n if not mistaken they use for benchmark n not for daily use. You have to try 400x8 @ 3.2g first then slowly oc higher with trial n error

ive just bought myself asus P5Q3 i would like to know why i couldnt boot up to windows (im always having IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD message) when i overclocked my processor to 4ghz (500x8), at approximately 1.62v

my old board p5k pro will give over voltage alarm when i try to set in bios more than 1.65v, but this mobo gives off the alarm at 1.6v... ive ignored the warning anyway and continued the startup... rams was at 1666, i thought it was ram problem... when i downclocked it to 1333, the problem is still the same...

any ideas what is the prob?

ps: it seems i have a fsb wall of 500mhz with q6600... will changing to 45nm procs give me a higher fsb wall? @@

1. not all q6600 can boot at 4ghz
2. not all board can boot a quad at 500fsb, try use 445x9 instead
3. changing to 45nm will not give u extra FSB becasue mobo is limiting the quad fsb OC as well

the main problem should come from the 500fsb, using 445x9 should solve your problem smile.gif

Mine can cook up to 75C if voltage not properly set.

4GHz is quite difficult to achieve. Need more money to buy things hehe

hmmm....
no.1 is definitely no because my old board booted q6600 at 4ghz... ive even reached 4.1ghz... not to mention it was stable enough to do benchmark tests tongue.gif
no.2 is also no because i managed to boot up 3.5ghz, that is 500x7 and it was stable until i stress test it, in a few minutes i will experience hang which i can say the ram is to be blamed

is there any other ideas? from what i know, the bsod i message suggests something to do with memory, but my ram is at 1333mhz @@

wonder how can u say that ur ram to be blamed...have u tested ur ram with that speed?
issit possible u have hit ur mobo fsb wall?
i'd go with hengmy suggestion...down the clock and up the multiplier and see how it turns out...

your stress failed because of mobo fsb limit. even u able to boot at 500fsb but hard to make it stable because is quadcore.
but if u able to boot at 500fsb, there is a chance to make it stable, and 65nm is easier to make it stable at 500fsb than 45nm since it can take higher vtt.
it depend much on your mobo capabilities smile.gif

oh ya... regarding vtt... i totally forgot about it hahaha... i set it to auto all the way, figuring the mobo can do its job, since i am stable at 1800mhz on auto tongue.gif...
