Yup, it’s actually a multi currency debit card, I used it a lot in Japan because of the exchange rate, it’s cheaper than credit card

Most places in the city accepts cards, it’s only small off main road shops, markets,  temples and suica/pasmo topup need cash, I think we spent less than ¥100k cash in my 20 days trip

OKIE! Sounds good! if the exchange rate is better than I might as well apply for a WISE card then. smile.gif And if i need money I will just withdraw from atm right? Any ATM works?

so far i only withdraw from 7-11 since it's the most common out there

and you can start to buy Yen and keep in Wise account directly already if you think the exchange rate is good ....

Hi, need suggestion to help plan my trip

I'm planning a trip with arrival and departure times from Narita Airport as follows:

June 28, 7 am: Arrival
July 2, 11 am: Departure
December 15, 7 am: Arrival
December 19, 11 am: Departure

Wondering if it's feasible to tour regions outside of Tokyo, specifically Hokkaido or Osaka on one of the trip or I should be concerned about potential weather-related service interruptions if heading to Hokkaido in December? - or perhaps I should just spend those time in Tokyo

Also, interested in understanding the current state of over tourism in Japan. Wondering if public transportation, like trains, is typically overcrowded.

I'm seeking advice on accommodation for 3 adults and 1 child. We've already booked with Karaksa Hotel Colours Tokyo, which is about 600 meters away from Tokyo Station. Although it's a bit pricey, our main goal is to ensure we catch the Narita Express (NEX) by 7 am at Tokyo Station (from earlier research other station might not have access to NEX prior that and trasitting with luggage can be challenging), as our flight departs at 11 am. However, since we may have multiple luggage pieces, navigating might still be challenging. We're considering airport transport services (book via klook) for both directions but are unsure about the reliability and potential charges if we exceed the free waiting time due to customs delays or which might be a better option to stay at if we were to opt with airport transport

Thanks

Hi..I can comment on the KLOOK airport transfer part.
I have used KLOOK to book 4 times narita to city, every time driver is on time.
he/she will whatsapp you a day before to confirm your schedule too..

price wise i think is very justifiable, considering travelling with kids + luggage, and door to door.

Ehhh i just wanna ask, let's say i use Wise and then i have too much cash in the Wise account. I can transfer to local account, are there any fees?
From what I understand here, if i withdraw in Japan, of course they have the local atm fees. So let's say I have a lot of MYR in the wise account that I never exchange it to any currencies (i assume that's how it works? Load MYR into the account and choose the currencies that I want to exchange to..), can i withdraw/transfer those money/MYR back?

Based on my understanding:

1) Loading foreign currency that you intend to use allows you to monitor exchange rates and transfer funds when rates are favorable.
2) With a Wise debit card, transactions are deducted from the appropriate currency if available. Alternatively, the payment system may offer a choice. When the required currency is unavailable or insufficient, Wise will convert any available currency to fulfill the payment. The drawback of this approach could be unfavorable exchange rates.

In my last April trip, my flight was also 11am at Narita and I took NEX from Shinjuku, booked for online just 2 days before our departure

I travelled with my wife and 8yo with 3 large suitcases and bag packs, we took a cab to Shinjuku station and via NEX reached airport with no issues, practically empty train during that time, there are baggage compartments to place your luggage

I think transfer out from Wise will have fees

what I did was I converted to some SGD since I transit in Changi, then the leftover MYR I just use it like a normal debit card

you can withdraw from ATM also if you want, I think there’s a monthly withdrawal llimit and they will charge an additional 1.75% or something like that

Hi everyone! Newbie here... Need some advice... I will be landing Haneda with AirAsia near midnight. Looking for some private transporter who can pick me and family up. Last I looked at some transporter links in here dating back to 2017, those Facebook links are dead.... appreciate if anyone has experience in arranging private transporters... Usually they are Malaysians staying in Japan. Tq in advance.

Question about SUICA card, do i need to buy a card/serial number to add on to my Apple Wallet? Or I can actually do so before even departing/landing at Japan? I read somewhere online that I can get a SUICA immediately in my Apple Wallet already regardless of where I am right now.

Question on Wifi - do you all use Sim Card or rent a pocket wifi? I just realise that the Japan Sim card is quite expensive too.
Anyone tried this seller before? Any recommendations are welcome!

if you use digi, maxis or celcom, the roaming plan is actually quite cheap and worth. Data is also generous.

Did my virgin ski trip to Niseko, 6d5n (for 4 full days of ski'ing), verdict: Niseko is great, but the premium for convenience is extremely extremely high. Also lesson learned, 4-years old don't expect them to know how to ski in just a few days.

https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSFYfBnvx/

Obv if you don’t need ski in ski out hotel and can queue for dinners, costs will be quite a bit lower.
