Not necessary. Very less Japanese taking Bus to Kawaguchiko. Because most will be self driving from Tokyo, not far away plus Japanese prefer train.
Taking Express bus from Shinjuku Station are one of most inconvenience thing.

this season, I mainly snowboard every weekend around Nagano/niigata and prefer those with less queue but shitty snow condition. previous seasons mainly around ishikawa/fukui/toyama

i used Shinkansen "smartEX app" to book & choose my reserved seat.

correct me if i'm wrong - reserved seat, u need to take the specific train at the specific time. but if you missed it, u can take next train but on the unreserved seat car this time.

unreserved seat - any of the shinkansen train, any time as long as within that day (some say within 3days) but no guarantee seat for you at the unreserved car. it'll be on who can get the seat first. which is why if u get on the train from the end of the station like tokyo or shin-osaka, you'll most probably can get a seat for the unreserved train.

this is based on my understanding from my limited online research so far.

i'm planning to buy the bus ticket to lake kawaguchiko or one of it's surroundings area. what other method would u recommend? shinkansen train? maybe i'll take this one my way home....trying to keep my transportation cost minimal, if possible.

my worry is not fighting for the same bus ticket wif the local Japanese. but wif the other tourist. seems like the Chinese are coming in like flocks during this week.

Shinkansen travel between Osaka - Tokyo are every 15 minute one train. Operation hour from 6am to 11pm. That will be 68 train per day vice versa.

Frequency of Metro system.....had you ever online booking any Metro system in advance? Online booking for shinkansen is for Golden week season......but this system got programmed bug inside....if your IP are not Japan, system will automatically shows you full. If you used VPN change your IP to Japan but you choose Eng language in web, it also block.

If you didnt travel to Japan on thier holiday season, advance booking are not needed.

Best way tarvel from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko are using JR Limited Express "Excursion" but price slightly higher than Express bus.

i thought of that too...after watching a YouTuber saying the same thing.

But i changed my mind last minute when i realized i may not easily get the E seat, as i'll be getting onto the shinkansen train from kyoto, which from what i researched is not the last station. so...lesser chance on getting that E seat to view mt fuji. and i do not want to waste much time waiting for that empty E seat train, when the price difference is only ard rm12~ (per adult seat) for a guaranteed seat and on the seat wif the window view that I desired.

what do you mean by that program bug that shows all & block if choose English? i used the smartEX app to purchased the tickets.

I taking Shinkansen more than 200 times in my life, 170 times the train are not even 60% full. Within this 170 times, 100 times the Train are not even 40% Full
If you really wanted to take Mt Fuji Picture. The only Spot will be This Bridge to Shin-Shizuoka Station ....just hop to empty windows seat take picture and hop back.

This is the only chances, and if really depends on luck. 200 times of Shinkansen ride....is about 80-90 times I sucessful can see full Fuji Moutain and taking perfect picture like Google Map shows. 110 times are unsucessful.


Prorammed bug will be actived during Golden Week. This system is to guranteee Japanese got the seat first than only Foreirners / Tourist.

If you wan to see best Mt Fuji. Just take JR Excursion train to Shimoyoshida Station. From Shimoyoshida Station walk to Arakurayama Sengen Park
Hike to top and reward will be the best Mt Fuji picture infront of you. (Need Luck also) (Cloudy, raining day , winter can give up)

noted oredi on that Arakurayama Sengen Park wif that kinda miniature red temple. from YT, there seems to be high climb to it though...

i thought winter is the best time to get a clear view of mt fuji, no?

also noted on that now famous clock shop street/town.
