suica - no ... just "buy" from apple wallet directly by topping up 1000 yen
wifi - eSim (Ubigi)

Okie. So I can just do it directly from apple wallet right? Cause there’s a shortage of physical suica card now.

I bought SIM card direct from Sakura mobile 21 days ¥9000

Leanne check! Do you know roughly how much GB do you use per day especially if I’m going to use google map a lot?
QUOTE(HumanExtinction @ Feb 12 2024, 11:43 AM)
if you use digi, maxis or celcom, the roaming plan is actually quite cheap and worth. Data is also generous.

It’s about 8GB for 10 days, do you think that’s enough? I dont think I need to browse the internet, mainly for research and google mapping all the time for directions. Haha. I guess I can save some of the maps.

The UBIGI in Japan, the speed is good? I just checked the rate. It’s pretty competitive and quite worth it as compared with Maxis roaming.

The daily limit in general is 3GB, I never hit that and I use a lot of goggle maps, Google and Google translate, buying tickets and stuff

Remember to bring power bank, the internet bandwidth will last much longer than the phone battery 🤣

Hi! I'm thinking of flying PAL to Tokyo via Manila. The transfer window is 1 hour 5 minute. Will it be too short a time? Can I make it on time? TQ

By the way, are there anyways to check the prices of Shinkansen, says for example: Osaka to Kyoto or Osaka to Tokyo.

A simple google search showed me that Osaka to Kyoto would cost me about 1400 yen about RM50. But some even shows me up to RM300? For a 15 minutes ride? HUH?

So i just wanna get a better accuracy, just to account into my budget.

Throughout my journey in Q4 2022, I used the fare estimation recommended on Google maps. The fares are worth referencing. It's usually correct for me. Although when I go on the longer shinkansen, the fare could be off by few hundred yen, but the whole ticket was 14k so... The difference was not significant. Even for local trains I notice the fare is accurate.

Also it was convenient to reference Google map for less frequent trains... For the timetable. Makes it easier to plan when to be there.

Thanks for the info. One more question, usually can I buy the shinkansen tix from Osaka to Tokyo? as I see there's a lot of trains to Tokyo, was wondering can I get the tix when i'm there since I've yet decided on the time? confused.gif

Yeah I used the google maps references for subways and trains. But don’t know how accurate it is for the Jrail.

It depends on which train and what time, I noticed the faster the train during peak hours, the more expensive it gets

Though I was using JRPass, the Nozomi trains are significantly more expensive hence you need to know which train and what time you want to board

You only can buy Shinkansen Ticket at Shin-Osaka Station. Buy only when you at Station. Osaka to Tokyo Shinkansen every 15 minute 1 train.
