Judging by your pictures I think the weather was ok though no sunshine. Some I read experienced total whiteouts. At least you managed to see the Zao Monsters. I think I will head there first thing in the morning if the weather is good.

So we can alight from the ropeway in the middle station and then later board again to continue to the top station or do we have to go all the way to the top only?
*
Can. You alight from ropeway. My Expereince was direct to Top, From Top to Middle to Bottom.

Ticket had to buy separate. Bottom station ticket only reach Middle Station.  From Middle station had to walk to another part of section and buy ticket again to the top. So you can walk around sightseeing Middle part of Zao mountain.
2000+3800 = 5800

if wanted to see  illumination, ticket will be 6000 per pax, from bottom to middle +  illumination entrance ticket.

wahhh...need to line up and buy again at the middle station? cry.gif

do u have any pictures of the middle station and where to walk to? i'm afraid there will be so much crowd, and not sure where to go to buy the tickets to go to the top.

I am yet to get confirmation from my local bank but to clarify

1) there are two charges from wise - Wise fees and credit card fees
2) what I am seeking for clarification if there is any additional fees from local bank when I "add money" into the card with Cr Card

Reason, trying not to expose my bank account and I do have credit to offset item 1 smile.gif

Hey, quick update on the issue above - credit card payment with Wise
1) as we know and displayed in Wise transaction - there is Wise fees and Credit card fees (that not the question)
2) spoke with NZ bank (but might apply to MY too) - those code provided by Wise are useless to them and after digging further the back office believe those transaction are consider as "Cosy Cash Advance" and as such there wont be charges to it but have to wait for end of month statement to confirm
3) the bank description is as such that cosy cash advance is not physical cash out hence dont fall into the category
4) statement out and no extra fees incur

you can add suica into iPhone wallet, without requiring a physical card

but only reloadable with Mastercard or AMEX

by enabling express transit option, you can just flash your iphone on the reading terminal to go through the gate

you have to buy a card ... then use cash to reload in the designated machine (don't think there's reload via credit card option)

p/s: you can actually also reload the e-suica card on ur iPhone using cash via the newer machine (just place the phone accordingly on the "plate")

Depends on which card you buy and whether you require refund
Pasmo or suica are available for refunds in Tokyo airport, not sure about icoca

But physical cards can only reload via cash, credit reload will only work if you add the card into Apple wallet like the above post mentioned

If you go shopping in dept stores, you can op to get tax refund in cash

Else you can apply for Wise card, withdraw up to 30000 yen in 1 month without fees

I have some notes on my blog:

I have never used Wise card actually. How's the exchange rate like?
Can SUICA be used in Osaka? SUICA is mainly for subways/metro right? And some payments within stores/convenience stores/restaurants?
I have never used Apple Wallet, so i assume that it reloads within Apple Wallet itself with the credit card that I store in the wallet? Am i right?

The exchange rate is very close to xe.com, very close to internet rates, they will charge a small fee for conversion but it’s still way better than money changer rates.

Suica/Pasmo can be used in most public bus, trains and metro stations across Japan. And yes, a lot of shops located near these stations accepts Suica, all convenience stores as well

The Welcome Suica taikor mentioned is for tourist only, good thing is you don’t need to do a refund when you leave Japan, bad thing is you cannot do refunds at all, so just reload as you go, not too much

And yes for the apple wallet, I’ve only read about it, never used it before. Still prefer to take out a card rather than a phone, scared lost the phone laugh.gif

Hmmm, apart from the withdrawal from international ATM for Wise cards, nothing much right? And works like a debit card too right?

I don’t wanna lose my phone too but it would be more convenient to just reload into the card via CC instead of having multiple cash. Haha. I need to think about it more for sure.

Yup, it’s actually a multi currency debit card, I used it a lot in Japan because of the exchange rate, it’s cheaper than credit card

Most places in the city accepts cards, it’s only small off main road shops, markets, temples and suica/pasmo topup need cash, I think we spent less than ¥100k cash in my 20 days trip
