I read in other forums that many people manage to overclock and capture a screenshot at 4Ghz and above BUT it is not a stable setting. Until I try it out myself, I'm still uncertain smile.gif
*
it is definitely stable .. for comparison, i can say oc this penryn to 4ghz is the same like ocing conroe to 3ghz.. all my previous 17 conroe (/allendale) processors manage to oc till 3.1ghz at least.. and they are fully stable at that speed, even that might be its max clock.. but i did read some only manage to get until 2.7-2.8ghz, which i doubt is the wall for the proc.. maybe bcoz of the user itself ..the setting.. the board.. psu.. wink.gif

Most people comment based on their reading (not experience) so it's hard to tell what's true and what's not smile.gif Overclocking to get into Windows with a SuperPI screenshot is not considered as stable. From the way I look at it, 4Ghz should be easy considering it's only a mild increase from the default clock speed BUT we'll never know if we have a dud CPU.

There are just as many Wolfdale users not being able to get their E8400 stable at 4Ghz.

ya, actually to get stable OC, we must run through prime test for both core at least 8 hours for stability, not just running SuperPI... the best is priming for 24hours...

I understand that. My point is that not all E8400 are 4Ghz stable from what I read. I'm not sure how true it is but am sharing what I see from other forums. It's good to have that in mind so that people don't have a wrong expectation that all E8400 can run 4Ghz+ daily.

I don't think they will differ that much though... Just that maybe u need a higher vcore to run at that speed..

ya i get it, like my case lo... my e2140 need bout 1.5vcore just to run 3ghz... kucingfight and goldfries e2140 can reach 3.2ghz at such low vcore... and also ur e2140 OC quite well as well... so its depends on steppings and batch...

It's luck I guess. I have another E2140 lying around but I'm lazy to swap CPU to test out - too much of work involved sweat.gif
