does inspiron 1520 come with 2.0megapixel camera?
in the website they just state that under color kit section that:
espresso brown color with microsatin finish and camera.
more than that, what is microsatin finish mean?
from the website, it's difficult for me to determine whether which color i actually like.
Perhaps if there's a dell sales outlet, it's easier for me to make up my mind...

You mus think twice, 1520 is rather bulky and its color coating disappointed me.
I have ordered 2 for my cousins, 1 red 1 pink. Really heavy i can say.

And the keyboard gives me a feel like plastic toys. Most importantly, we have spent over 2 days for the wireless issue.
You need to download Intel Wireless patches from DELL support site in order to get connected to your legacy wireless router.

Both notebook equipped with 8600m and 2G ram, but they are not performing well in term of graphical under windows vista.
I can feel the delay when running few "light-weight" applications simultaneously.

Overall, if you travel a lot, this notebook gonna hurt your shoulder due to its heavy weight.
If the reason you buy 1520 is only because of the metalic color finish. You might need to do more research on it.
Yes, it does come with 2.0 megalpixels webcam.

Edited: I was the first batch buyer, Price of each 1520 is RM2999 (Free upgrade to 2G) + Delivery RM12x.

really arr?
the 8600mgt is not performing well?
i'm actually desire a better performance, and not too expensive to replace my desktop as i'll further my study oversea.
to me, the weight doesnt matter.
the spec i will customize are as below

T7500 +1224
WSXGA+ + 367
8600m gt + 210
wireless N-mini card + 46
wireless 355 bluetooth + 77
9 cell battery + 81

Do dell use Kingston/Apacer/Cossair ram? or ram tagged by dell itself?
still considering whether want to upgrade the ram outside or not because before this, to upgrade to 2x1024 i need to top up RM4XX, but now only RM279.
Or, can i ask for free upgrade? It depends on sales person perhaps?

This is Dell business tactic

1st week , free upgrade to 2G, but you need to pay for freight charge.
2nd week, free delivery, but you need to pay for the ram if you planned to upgrade it to 2G.
During PC fair, there will be FREE 2G + FREE Delivery sweat.gif

RAM wise, i see no difference among Kingston, Apacer or Corssair (maybe you should check with the chipset) .

I would suggest you upgrade the ram by yourself because 1G so-dimm ram= RM145-RM155 only
Not forgetting it is LIFE TIME WARRANTY !

DELL OEM RAM carries only 1 year or 3 years warranty (depending your notebook package).

Edited: If i am not mistaken, Dell provides international warranty. Good for overseas traveling.

Shouldn't be a problem if you downgrade your OS to Windows XP. sweat.gif

Yup but only for the Limited warranty, Complete cover only covers selected countries across Asia Pacific.

Edit: Btw, i would suggest not to get the T7500. It is massively overpriced from Dell atm and there is really no difference if you got the T7300 instead. The improved performance is barely noticable for the price you pay.

I was thinking, why do we need complete cover ? Afraid of spill on keyboard?
My friend spilled her shampoo on keyboard and the keyboard went mad,
but she still got keyboard replacement under coverage of limited warranty (of course she din tell the truth when asked by Dell agent).

Just ordered mine! Estimated arrival at 8 Aug 2007.

But I'm really starting to worry about the 1520's weight. Is it really THAT heavy?

Ring a bell,

Day yell,
Night yell,
What the hell,
Delay like hell,
But never tell,
How wanna sell?
Excuses can give so well!

Dell oh dell,
Ring a Bell,
Bye bye dell,
I bid farewell!
