I am the one who immediately format my 1520 and install XP PRO into my laptop. Initially getting drivers problems, but all solved thanks to all answers I got from LYN, You can sourced back the questions that I asked and those useful answers from the thread "Dell New model Vortro,1520,1720,1521,1721 updated ". Hopefully you will enjoy using the laptop with XP!!

Seriously, I don't have any drivers problem until now. As for game, I just installed CnC3 and it works like a charm. I have no problem with Vista, wait maybe there's, but just a minor one, so far so good.

Hey guys, apparently the irritating "ringing" noise is not just confined to Dell, but other brands as well. Seems it's a Core 2 Duo problem:

Added on July 25, 2007, 12:56 amAlso, was anyone able to choose their sound card? When i try to configure the inspiron 1520 there's no category for sound card.. But in the US website you're able to customize the sound card..

I don't think we have that choice in Malaysia...

Btw, I'm thinking to get a cooler pad for my 1520, the temperature rises a lot from my 8600m GT when playing game (CnC3).

what is the temp of your GPU during gaming? from the reviews i've seen, 1520 is extremely good at dissipating heat. even at full throttle, the laptop only feels warm, not hot like other competiting brands.

can u verify this?

I've hit a major problem....during the first week when I was using my 1520, it can detect any wireless networks instantly. Now after booting up windows Vista, it takes about 45mins - 1 hr before it can detect any wireless networks. What gives?

I also upgraded the Wireless controller to support Wireless N too.

Hope that doesn't create any compatibility issue since it does support other modes.

I don't think that Wireless N is Wimax.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.11

I think Wireless is enhancing currently WLAN A/B/G with MIMO capability (antenna coverage/directivity).

Deng! All this while I though Wireless N is for WiMax purpose, should've upgraded it. Enhancement the coverage and directivity is what I need when there's no streamyx back in my house at my hometown brows.gif

wireless N is NOT wimax. wimax version will be released in the next iteration of the centrino chip.
