Hey guys, apparently the irritating "ringing" noise is not just confined to Dell, but other brands as well. Seems it's a Core 2 Duo problem: http://www.dignews.com/preview.php?story_id=24171 Added on July 25, 2007, 12:56 amAlso, was anyone able to choose their sound card? When i try to configure the inspiron 1520 there's no category for sound card.. But in the US website you're able to customize the sound card.. This post has been edited by Gaza: Jul 25 2007, 12:56 AM

QUOTE(Sandwich2U @ Jul 31 2007, 01:58 PM) Edited: If i am not mistaken, Dell provides international warranty. Good for overseas traveling. Yup but only for the Limited warranty, Complete cover only covers selected countries across Asia Pacific. Edit: Btw, i would suggest not to get the T7500. It is massively overpriced from Dell atm and there is really no difference if you got the T7300 instead. The improved performance is barely noticable for the price you pay. Guys about Dell's comeplete cover, it only covers Asia Pacific (Australia included). A sales rep i talked to previously before asked me where i was going to study and i said UK, then he said better to get the normal 3 year warranty because complete cover doesn't cover in UK.

QUOTE(alexnvidia @ Aug 6 2007, 01:32 PM) right.. thanks for the info bro. so is there any way we can get complete cover for international? sending it back to msia for warranty is one way, any other suggestions? If you go to the Dell UK website you can see that their complete cover costs a lot more than if you were to get it locally. You should ask your sales rep for any suggetions about complete cover in countries not covered in asia pacific. But yeah, you could get complete cover and send your laptop to Dell when you're back, but that means before you come back you won't have a fully functional laptop.

Backpack is easier to carry around (and also the weight is distributed over 2 shoulders). Another thing, if you carry a sling bag with the word "DELL" on the side you'll be more prone to snatch thefts and car break-ins.

QUOTE(hho84 @ Aug 17 2007, 01:52 PM) what do u mean by grainy lcd screen? i using my 1520 to watch movies it is a bit blur..is this grainy?...but playing games and viewing pictures all fine Grainy screen is the whole screen covering with little black specs. Just imagine as if you kept your laptop for a long time and there's a layer of dust on your screen.

QUOTE(Darkmage12 @ Aug 19 2007, 07:22 PM) riva tuner doesn't give a correct reading iirc as it's only DDR2 Yup i heard riva tuner doesn't give correct memory details for laptop GPUs as well. And hao, do you mean when you press the laptop at that area, there's an area that doesn't flex while the rest of the area around it flexes?

I'd say stick with your older laptop. You probably won't notice a big performance leap (say maybe 10%), but you can be rest assured that your Precision business class notebook will have much better build quality compared to the Inspiron consumer class notebook. Only downside i can think of is maybe that business class notebooks tend to have not as good speakers as multimedia notebooks, but if you were fine with your Precision's speakers then no worry.

QUOTE(kanelkc @ Sep 20 2007, 09:54 PM) anyone know how to update the 8600 M GT video card driver ? i downloaded the latest driver from nvidia , but it wont allow me to install. i am using vista any idea ? nVidia drivers on their website only cater to desktop GPUs, for laptop GPUs try laptopvideo2go.com, but be sure to read the instructions 1st!
