Hi all, I am holding some 100+ USD in Wise due to my freelance work. Planning to invest in Singapore market, maybe stocks or REIT.

What do I need to look out for when registering IBKR? FYI I don't have SG bank account nor SG address.

not essential to have a SG bank account. only recommended

just be aware of leaving RM20k equivalent in wise by the end of the day (assuming your wise is tied to malaysian address), it'll trigger the account freeze process. if you are transacting more than RM20k, it has to leave wise before EOD

Not having 8-9 figures, but I'm sure you already have verify your ewallet with IC. So I'm thinking this is like a bigger name, why sweat over it?

possible bug on IBKR. even so, if u manually convert your currency, U$0.35 commission fees is still cheaper than 0.05% for LSE instruments

Medufsaid 1) Is it really USD0.35 commission fees for US ETF like QQQ, VOO regardless of dollar amount invested?
2) If LSE commission is only 0.05%, then isn't it very cheap (cheaper than US0.35?) For eg: USD1000*0.05% =US0.5?

Anyone enable this "Stock Yield Enhancement Program" ?

Stock Yield Enhancement Program
Settings
Stock Yield Enhancement Program
Configure Your Stock Yield Enhancement Program

The Interactive Brokers Stock Yield Enhancement Program helps you generate extra income and may increase total returns. Program participants receive 50% of a market-based rate when lending their fully paid securities to IBKR. You can sell your shares at any time without any restriction and may terminate your participation at any time for any reason.
https://ndcdyn.interactivebrokers.com/Unive...iew?formdb=4215

In the event that the holder of a security borrowed from you is entitled to
elect the type of distribution to be received from two or more alternatives, you shall be entitled to make
such election by timely notification to IB. However, you will receive substitute payments (e.g., a cash
substitute payment) in lieu of receiving dividends or other types of distributions directly from the issuer.
Certain unique distributions may not be capable of being exactly replicated as a manufactured payment by
IB. For example, cash payments in lieu of dividends may not be afforded the same treatment as qualified
dividends for tax purposes and are likely to be taxed at a higher tax rate for U.S. taxpayers instead of the
preferential qualified dividend rate.

I wonder if this will change the withholding tax for us.

LSE minimum is $1.70, or 0.05%, whichever is larger. NYSE pricing can be found here https://thepoorswiss.com/ib-fixed-or-tiered-pricing/

Thanks. It seems that for small amount, NYSE is better but for larger amount, LSE is better

Medufsaid Oh, even for LSE etfs can get $0.35 fee? I was comparing the spread between SPY, VOO and VUAA. VUAA and SPY spread around $0.03 while VOO is $0.1. Expense ratio for SPY 0.09% while VOO and VUAA 0.03%. So if its really $0.35 fee for VUAA, its the clear winner

Anyone here got offered IBKR's Digital Security Card+ (DSC+)? Just received this email:

QUOTE
You are receiving this notice as your IBKR account F******** is eligible to receive an upgraded Secure Login Device. This device, referred to as the Digital Security Card+ (DSC+), provides a higher level of security compared to your current device by utilizing a PIN code entry and enhanced challenge/response passcode generation. No security measures are impenetrable, but two-factor authentication provides a meaningful degree of enhanced protection.

Up to you to use or not. I prefer SMS over all these digital apps or token cause if phone spoil, you will be lock out. At least SMS just change phone SIM card and you can get back your SMS.

Btw congrats biggrin.gif

Does ibkr referral apply to a Malaysian application?

If yes, are the benefits the same as what I read? The $200 & $1000 thing... conditions.. Etc.

If yes, feel free to PM me. icon_rolleyes.gif *update: rcvd, tq

*Can't guarantee that I will be able meet the conditions, or even proceed to open an account yet as I'm still on the fence.
