QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Oct 16 2023, 11:39 AM) has anybody done a fund transfer from IBKR LCC (US) to Maybank Malaysia? IBKR said the Maybank SWIFT code is insufficient. They need a correspondence bank for Maybank in order to make the trasnfer. Maybank cant resolve this issue for me hence im asking here. I was wondering whether you can link your account to deposit, and withdraw to the same account? I've recently link my US account to IBKR and plan to see whether there is any way to link our local bank with IBKR. Seems like UBS/ETrade wire transfer more direct. Tried with UBS before with that Swift code and it is working This post has been edited by jasontoh: Oct 16 2023, 02:48 PM

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Oct 16 2023, 03:20 PM) if u don't mind indirect way, transfer USD out to wise, then convert to RM, and topup your ewallet via Wise debit card. good to know the alternatives as IBKR gives 1 free bank withdrawal monthly, and 1 free Wise withdrawal for the same period Ok. Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like I have to find my Wise card

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 30 2023, 11:42 AM) 1st step. I would not convert back my money unless you really need it. SGD4.0 is coming in few years time. Yea, there is no point converting to RM if we are working here. We can always spend the money that we earned here. USD/SGD might still have room for upside

QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Nov 9 2023, 03:07 PM) Interest is paid on positive cash balance regardless of whether it is set aside for whatever purpose. There is 0 interest on the first $10k. Suggest you put into SGOV instead. I see the SGOV div is 4.58. But we also have witholding tax right?

I notice the commission for the options trading is different each time......eg the 1st time I'm doing a Buy + Sell, the commission is 34c, but I see that I have another commission at 1.04. Any reason for the difference? Same counter/expiry/strike.
I look at IBKR page which has the following Premium < USD 0.05 USD 0.25/contract Premium ≥ USD 0.05 and <0.10 USD 0.50/contract Premium ≥ USD 0.10 USD 0.65/contract

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Nov 10 2023, 08:53 AM) Based off exchange. Some exchange more expensive but faster execution. Some exchange cheaper but slowe execution. But my options for 2 of the contracts same, just due to the interface that I'm not familiar, ended up I do 1 contract and then another one immediately after that

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Nov 10 2023, 10:02 AM) It doesn't matter if same or not. It's the exchange that ibkr route the order through. Oo... you mean even with the same account, I put order for options A in US stock exchange, then another options A, it might route through different exchange?

QUOTE(Mattrock @ Nov 17 2023, 11:42 AM) For some reason after qualifying as AI, a new account is opened, and it is managed from US. So if I were to do a withdrawal to a local bank, it has to be to a US bank. To send to Singapore or Malaysia, it will be via international wire transfer. I am finding out what TDA SG's role is now. Anyway, since this is IBKR thread, I won't prolong this subject. If MY residents end up with IBKR US account, then no point for me to transfer to IBKR. Will investigate this. Thanks. What about opening HSBC bank account in the US, transfer to the Singapore HSBC and you can decide whether want to move the money back to Malaysia HSBC?

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Nov 17 2023, 04:18 PM) since this is an IBKR thread, what if he ACH the funds (assuming it's not funds that is needed in an emergency in the near future) from a us bank account into IBKR, and then only withdraw it to a singapore bank account at least 3-5 years down the line? won't be flagged for "using IBKR to forex" yea? the stock positions (except for fractional units), he can directly transfer to IBKR without liquidating This method will be flag? I did wire some fund from US bank account to IBKR, and intended to withdraw it to a Singapore bank account should I want to spend some money there.

Not having 8-9 figures, but I'm sure you already have verify your ewallet with IC. So I'm thinking this is like a bigger name, why sweat over it?

QUOTE(TOS @ Jan 31 2024, 04:15 PM) It's nearing the end of January 2024, I still don't see IBKR refund my 30% WHT deducted out of my BIL holdings. Can anyone confirm the exact date of WHT refund for last year/previous years? Thanks. You are invested in this SGOV also? Is it capital guaranteed, or we can still lose money when the price move down.

QUOTE(TOS @ Feb 1 2024, 10:52 AM) No, for liquidity reasons I go for BIL, but it's the same product, just different fund managers (SGOV - Blackrock, BIL - State Street). And no, it is not capital guaranteed. If short-term US T-bill rates move volatile enough T-bill ETF can still lose money. And of course, if Uncle Sam can't service its own debt then do expect volatile movements in the ETF price as well. There's an additional complexity in using ETF which is the premium/discount over the underlying asset's NAV. This is less of an issue with liquid ETF but can be a problem for less liquid ones. You probably don't have to worry too much about this for BIL or SGOV. Will look into BIL as well.

QUOTE(swiss228 @ Jul 18 2025, 10:43 PM) Thanks for the screenshots. I couldn't find the interest rate calculator on IBKR website but managed to get it after a google search for it. Very useful. The other screenshot was equally useful, but I need to do a more in-depth study as there are various types of interest payments. On my daily activity statement, my broker interest paid and received is 0, but my interest accruals is $3.56. Thanks, and hope you all have a profitable US trading day! I think it is paid not sure in a month or year.

QUOTE(swiss228 @ Jul 17 2025, 09:24 PM) Thanks for the above example. So, to qualify for the interest of 3.83% pa, I have to have CASH 100k? I thought IBKR meant if the portfolio is above $100k (inclusive of all stocks already purchased) , any idle cash would earn an interest rate of 3.83% pa. You need to have networth >100K. And your cash >10K will get the USD interest rate
