Here's hoping the telcos will actually bring in the LTE model for Series 5... I'm not keeping my hopes up for the ECG feature anytime soon.

I’m a fan of the always on display.
Hoping for LTE version too so I can leave my phone at home, go for a run or market and still receive calls and text |

will head to the fifth avenue Apple store on Sep 20 to test drive the titanium model plus checking out the new layout of the store as well, heard that the SS model is 45% heavy then titanium which is a deal breaker
currently still rocking on the Apple Watch Series 0 Stainless Steel version. This post has been edited by wengjoe: Sep 12 2019, 11:44 AM |

Me still using my stainless steel series 0. Still working fine. Not a single scratch on the screen.
Really hope that our telco in MY will bring in the LTE stainless steel version. I am not going to upgrade to aluminum. Hate to use screen protector on watch... |

I hope titanium would come to our market. So sad to see lack of options here compared to the US. And FFS give us the ECG feature as well.

Nope...u can't use the cellular in MY. But I really want to the sapphire crystal glass that is scratch proof. My Series 0 till now still not a single scratch... |

If the cellular version could work without data then why not? I hope it could work in case they wouldn't offer base GPS model with Titanium finish here.

i am waiting for stainless steel + cellular AW as well..too sad that still no cellular for MY market..
there is no cellular AW for MY market most probably is because of the price..a stainless steel + cellular AW costs you a USD699 which equivalent to around MYR3,000...not many people willing to spend that much for a watch..i guess.. |

They still could give an option to sell the cellular version but it seems even for Series 5 they don’t give it here in our market. Very disappointed. RM3k+ for a titanium watch is actually not a bad price. Compare it with Titanium made G Shock for example, the MRG series, it could go way up to 5 digits figure and people still buy it.there is no cellular AW for MY market most probably is because of the price..a stainless steel + cellular AW costs you a USD699 which equivalent to around MYR3,000...not many people willing to spend that much for a watch..i guess.. I just want at least the SS finish and upon checking on Apple SIN only aluminium version has the basic GPS one. I have the Apple Watch Series 3 aluminium version and it doesn't feel nice actually. Feels too light IMO. I've watched hands-on on the aluminium version of the S5, most say it feels different. |

Unfortunately Apple won't launch Apple Watch Cellular until local carriers can support eSIM for Apple Watch according to their specifications. :/ The fault lies more on carrier's side, because their network stack is not up to it.

If that is so, carriers really have poor priority of choices. They would rather support Huawei Watch (how many Huawei watch vs Apple Watch out there in the wild) |

Hi, I would like to get an Apple Watch in SG probably cellular+GPS version. I read through the thread and the cellular not supported by local carriers but I am wondering whether I can still use all other functions (like ECG, pairing with iPhone, receive messages from iPhone, tracking, heart tracking) in the Apple Watch (Cellular+GPS version) except the cellular? Thanks

Which mean the new Noise feature will not be available for Malaysia since we don't have cellular version?By the way, u can use the watch in MY without cellular. Same as u, I just want the SS finished. For me it is because of the sapphire crystal scratch proof glass. My Series 0 doesn't have a single scratch till today. |

QUOTE(persona93 @ Sep 23 2019, 11:05 AM) understand that cellular needs carrier support, but ECG? Both my iPhone and AW4 also from Apple Store Sg, can't activated here. Haven't travel to sg to activate ECG so not sure. My friend US AW4 can be activated though, when you set up to activate ECG, it will detect your location so you can't bypass that, but we suspect AW4 from US somehow ok but don't know exactly why. So I guess you can ask App Store guy if I buy now in Sg and activated ECG, can continue use when back to Mys? My thought is YES but again I am guessing.read about activating ECG in SG here, when i come back MY, will it stop working? my iFoon is SG set though |

My thought is YES but again I am guessing. ill try to get my friend to ask in App Store over in SG or maybe i call/chat straight laterwalk in i macam doubtful but if we activate ECG in SG but use in MY, not consider breaching any rules or whatsoever right >< later become like that Dominos guy |

Actually, if your phone always with you. Cellular version is not that useful. I still thinking whether GPS or GPS+Cellular if Malaysia really come with Celullar for AW5.
For me, my phone 24hrs belong with me one. But watch maybe I can leave it. |

Cellular + wifi model of iPads can become very good mifi devices if you have additional SIM card with data or best if u go overseas u can put the foreign data SIM card in to make it a personal hotspot. The battery life is certainly promising than any mifi devices you can buy anywhere. For me, my phone 24hrs belong with me one. But watch maybe I can leave it. |

QUOTE(jiaen0509 @ Sep 29 2019, 06:15 PM) From their website, Nike have sapphire crystal. if not mistaken since AW 4, sapphire crystal is the back, front is Ion-X glass for aluminium case https://support.apple.com/en-my/HT204507#series5 But I dont like Nike band and no gold color... AFAIK for all Apple Watch is simple, aluminium case => front Ion-X glass stainless steel/titanium/ceramic case => front sapphire you can visit apple store US site and check on AW5 Nike version tech spec, it stated clearly This post has been edited by vez: Sep 29 2019, 06:42 PM |

I’m currently using the Apple Watch 5 which I had bought in Australia on the 21 Sep. Previously using an Apple Watch 3. Battery life with the always on display remains similar to my old Apple Watch 3. However if you turn off the always on display, battery life is just great. Around 25% longer life compared with always on.

BUT, If we see at Apple Malaysia site, they still didn't put any date... Hmmmmm... |

QUOTE(persona93 @ Oct 9 2019, 11:31 AM) nope, you gotta purchase SG set since the ECG function ties to where the watch was purchased from (eg: SG US India, whichever country that supports ECG) ok thank u, but i still not clear about this ECG activation things...If we bought the Apple Watch at supported country like SG, then only activated it at Malaysia, it is obviously that ECG function not working... what if later we go to SG and try to activate the ECG? Is it possible? If yes, what is the process? Do we need to do it by unpairing, then restore bla, bla, bla - the same process when we first activated the watch... |

QUOTE(eagle.ng @ Oct 10 2019, 05:31 PM) If you need cellular on the watch then I guess will be extra pay for that e-sim. It’s only benefit if you always not having the phone with you together. But if you’re saying “using with phone” you no need to pay extra $ for the network. You can use it as a normal smartwatch Bluetooth connects to your phone. If you out of your phone’s Bluetooth range, your watch can no longer receive any notification. |

If I’m not mistaken, as long as you have any Bluetooth wireless headset, you will be able connect to your watch via Bluetooth and listen music from there. Not necessary must Apple headset products. |

QUOTE(eagle.ng @ Oct 10 2019, 07:05 PM) This is out of range. Because I don’t bring phone during I doing sport jogging. Ok, so for your case. Cellular version would be the best choice for you PROVIDED Malaysia telco will offer the cellular plan for Apple Watch. For GPS, can anyone share if do jogging without bring, can the AW record where I run and show the distance? For your second question, yes. Apple Watch can track all your activities including your heartbeat, distance, altitude. Until your watch get back to your phone, your jogging details only will be synced and stored into the phone. And since you’re asking about Apple Music, you need to download musics into your watch before you disconnected from the phone and go for jogging. |

Instead of trying to get ECG feature from our neighbor country, is it possible to push the "party" responsible for approving the feature in Malaysia?

QUOTE(ASAP @ Oct 15 2019, 07:43 PM) Thanks. I tried to search whether Digi going to support eSim for Apple Watch but so far, no news yet. Any idea when we can get Digi to support Apple Watch Cellular? Thanks fyi, currently all Msia Telco yet to support AW. But starting AW5 maybe Msia Telco will support. |

Most probably depend on the Telco progress also, if the Telco is unable to be ready to support cellular in AW, even cellular version is listed in SIRIM, eventually we will not get the cellular version as well. If Telco think that AW with cellular is expensive gadget and limited user will subscribe to their plan, they might not eager to support. Currently only Maxis support smart watch with cellular, but only limited to Huawei Watch 2. |

Always debated on getting a AW due to this... but am gonna grab AW5 after hearing about the always on screen hehe. But extra 200, you can show people your screen. And show them it is AW5. |

I’m leaning towards aluminum 44mm cellular, but also need depend on telco package... tricky part here I’m using a supplementary line. Hopefully even supplementary can have the option on the share sim.

Agreed with you that Digi and U Mobile is advance than Celcom Maxis.AW Cellular not only requires VoLTE and eSIM system certified by Apple. Maxis/Celcom don't have VoLTE. Actually in terms of Apple device carrier features, Digi is most advanced followed by Umobile in Malaysia. I like their VoLTE and VoWiFi. But, have to leave Digi due to Digi poor indoor coverage. I agree that Maxis will probably launch in a few months, they can’t stand being second to launch any exclusive thing lolI like their VoLTE and VoWiFi. But, have to leave Digi due to Digi poor indoor coverage. Digi indoors now slightly better now that they have Band 5 LTE (850MHz). Maxis LTE is really good, but they’re too stingy with data volume. So I went to Umobile because they gave more data, then to Digi when they launched their unlimited plan |

Later they charge RM30 per month and add extra 1GB to you. Hahahahahha This post has been edited by jiaen0509: Oct 18 2019, 06:23 PM |

Wanted to ask something. I previously bought Apple Watch series 4 from machines, with Apple care. Since they don’t sell AW 4. If anything happens to my current AW 4. How can I claim or replacement?

Nike edition is having more watch faces (wallpaper), Nike running app and Nike sport band. Other than that all the same. Unless you’re going for gold colour then you got to get AW standard edition. Nike doesn’t have gold colour or neither others material such as stainless steel, aluminum, ceramic. This post has been edited by ffantasy: Oct 22 2019, 07:10 AM |

Not sure what the pricing is like for enabling cellular. Can imagine if it is rm40 or more will be too expensive to justify.

Hi,
It seems the release date is 1st November right? Do you think buying the Nike one is better than the normal one? As the band can be changed anytime. |

So if I buy AW5 in Malaysia this coming 1st Nov, take a bus to singapore, activate my AW5 in Singapore using my iPhone on roaming line, come back home, then will I able to activate the ECG on my MY AW5 set?

WoW price. But I think Malaysia price will always higher than SG after exchange rate conversion.https://www.m1.com.sg/Promotions/numbershare QUOTE(jyu_bonk @ Oct 23 2019, 11:31 PM) So if I buy AW5 in Malaysia this coming 1st Nov, take a bus to singapore, activate my AW5 in Singapore using my iPhone on roaming line, come back home, then will I able to activate the ECG on my MY AW5 set? Yes. You can try it. Definitely you will waste your ticket price and time. hahahah Good as calories will burn for sure. Dont do that la. MY device not supported ECG yet. You need the device from ECG supported country. I think they detect your device model is MY or SG. For example, iPhone model number xxxxxxMY/A. This is what I guess. I exercise heavily and use tracking everyday. Just for your reference, I believe AW5 won’t differ much. what do you guys think about the battery life? IMHO, just put it to charge every night before sleep. |

If I buy AW5 cellular but use with another eSIM without number share. When people call my phone, does the watch ring too? Using call off? Or whatever the tech is called where my iPad and MBP will ring.

I might be wrong but I think Apple Watch only supports cellular with number share, because you can’t simply add a standard eSIM to the Watch. |

Don't know why everyone get so worked up with a function that doesn't matter. One lead ECG? Totally useless and gimmick.
Even 5 leads ECG you do at hospital also cannot detect irregular heatbeat if it didn't happen during that 30 seconds you lying down on hospital bed. You need to wear a 48 hours holter monitoring in order to do that. |

QUOTE(neverknowgirl @ Oct 24 2019, 05:06 PM) I got the ecg symbol (last my s4 apple watch dont even have symbol), but when ask to setup then it says your region does not have this function etc etc. After reading a lot of forum regarding turning on the ECG function, I’ve came out the step process which I am going to do while in HK airport. I have loads of time coz my connecting flight was in 3 hours. The whole process I did was :- Buy Apple Watch 5 in HK airport. Turn it on in HK Airport, connect to my iPhone in HK airport while my iPhone is on roaming on HK network (not taking chances using airport WiFi) then update the watch firmware and then turn on the ECG. Did you first connect your Apple Watch to the iPhone while in ECG available region? |

QUOTE(neverknowgirl @ Oct 24 2019, 04:51 PM) Haihh, then i need to check back why mine cannot already 😭 Is your AW from ECG country? The main point is your AW must be ECG supported country. You are the first person can activate using malaysia iphone. Few of my friend including me tried activate in SG but cannot. Non ECG country iPhone not the problem. |

So, AW5 MY version confirm cannot ECG. (No point pre-order starting tomorrow).
So gonna go Singapore, buy AW5 SG version, activate using MY iPhone with connecting to roaming line, activate there then come back. Is above correct? Or need to do some tricky thing in between, plan to go next week. Will AW5 SG version works with MY telco for cellular function? |
