seriously ppl, u noe those T3, Stuff, techno gadgets magazine..all recommend IPODS..hmmmph..

tho no doubt they sounded good, but not excellent if comapred with other competitors..

Samsung player really produce great sound quality, I would say better than Ipods..tho i would say ipod sounded a bit natural, while samsung a bit enhanced.

Meizu player got lotsa good ratings, looking forward to compare it with Iriver..

Creative players are also good, good but not impressive yet

Sony artificial sounding as typical with sony products..have n tested the recent models tho..

n lastly, Iriver is still the most natural best sounding with good internal amp, IMHO ...no doubt about it, cant find any players that can beat it or at least match it..

perhaps cowon or archos..(never heard before, wonder where can test it..rare items)

i am using nw-e005f. i believe that both are same in term in sound quality. i recommend you buy it cause the battery last long for continuous playback. but at lowyat now the player don't have stock anymore.

i'm not iriver fan, just so far i couldnt find any other brand mp3 player that can give superb sound quality as iriver..

but sony's battery life really attractive, and the sound quality also good too..

IPOD?..i'm really concern about the sound quality, thats why until now, IPOD never in my list..as for me, mp3 player is all about the sound quality, the other features like video, picture viewer, big capacity, nice looking are just bonus to it..

Hei i noticed that the Cowon iAudio D2 seems like a very good DAP when it comes to music output. it also supports a wide array of formats such as # Audio: MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, FLAC, APE, WAV, AAC (only on older firmware versions).

Does anyone know where i can buy this in Malaysia ? Or Singapore ?

Here is the review

http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/20...o-d2-review.php

Any comments is also appreciated on the DAP itself.

Anyone tried Samsung K5 here ?? As wanted to buy a new mp3 player or should I get an ipod nano ??

Have my Samsung YPT6- Yepp for 3 years already and its reliable till a stupid colleague drop it and break the battery cover. The sound is still excellent but the cover is broken now and need a recommendation of a mp3 player.

Budget around RM500 - RM700.

Thanks guys.

For your budget, I'd say creative is your best bet. Sounded pretty decent for its price. Check out for zen nano. Cost less than rm200

If you can get your hands on some old samsung models and iriver...they are probably your best bet. But with your budget you can hardly get a creative =.=;

My housemate is using the K5. Very good battery life, can easily last more than 20 hours if listen to earphone. nice touch pad as well. Speaker can last 5 hours if I'm not mistaken.

The problem with this model is that is is quite expensive and little bit bulky sweat.gif

Well the K3 is pretty good... got a 2nd hand t9 for RM410 plus postage... a little scratched the scratch but i'm sure one of u guys can advice me on how to rub off the scratches.

If the K3 is built like the K5 u got one hell of a durable mp3 player... i saw the video of a K5 while playing some tunes... put face with the speaker open (u can hear playing loudly with the car noises) n a car driving over n backing up on the spin/hinge of the K5 n its speaker.

It was still playing the hinge is still in perfect working condition... couldnt see if there was any scratches though....

Ok guys, i am intending to get an Ipod Video 30GB.
Does anybody know how much it costs *the cheapest deal*
and any thing that i should ask (authenticity, etc.) when buying it..
Please do recommend other mp3 players that are about the same price range as the Ipod 30GB, i might reconsider in getting the Ipod if something catches my eye.

Thank you for all the replies!

Ipod Video 30GB the usual price is RM1099. Refer Machinesdotcomdotmy they got a little bit deal this month.

Best price RM899 somewhere in S&M near kotaraya if I'm not mistaken. But if I really want to buy something that expensive. I just buy from "Apple Premium Reseller" , be join "Machines" membership and could buy Apple product with special price...Maybe...

If you are talking about same price RM1099 you could get a Sony NW-A808 (8GB). "Sonystyle KLCC"

I don't think Portable Video Player should be under 10GB unless it got Expandable memory. For Audio yeah its enough. But Sony do deliever quality product. I love those PSP LCD screen.

BTW Ipod No FM Built-In/Battery Issue. Apple Ipod Radio Remote cost u RM229

Other Brand worth for me to mentioned is "Samsung, SanDisk".

Ive choose lithium over 3A battery (the small one) I think lithium has better playtime. 3A rechargable battery has small drain, highest drain afaik is 1000mha, compare to 2A can exceed 2500mha and alot cheaper. If the player equip/ using 2A battery size, that is a wiser choices. But I'll avoid player that using 3A batteries

YP U2 also nice, simple design, superb parametric eq for better sq. For YP U3 design looks like cheap plastic build I dont like it, I'll go YP U2+stylish for masculine.

If you are traveling a lot, you can always get the batteries outside easily. For my case, If my player got only 1 bar left, I just bring a spare just in case it dies. wink.gif

U3 design is very neat and looks kinda cool. one of my friend have them. I'll give some comments after comparing them with my t30.

but for me.. as for today, if travel also we can find pc anywhere.. means, we can go to any cc and just plugin to the usb to charge and surf the net at the same time.. haha.. why bother to buy battery.. and with sony player.. i think the battery life *dang*.. over 10 hours right?

hunting for sony mp3s player 1gb.. still on survey and reading review.. need to get it as my phone battery suffering.. always on yellow bar(not red yet) after listening to nearly 2 hours of mp3 daily.. during lunch period + while travelling to work..

just tested my fren sony new mp3 player, the 'lipstick type'.. rm400+ if not mistaken for 2gb.. so nice and sound great.. crystal clear..

Hm...hi there, after quite a bit of listening, I can conclude to you that:
- the u3 touch pad is a little bid too sensitive, button are quite close for big fingers like me tongue.gif
- sound quality, they are quite good. t30 is slightly better. A little bit different sounding I'd say.. (stock earphones) stock earphones doesn't sound so good. You might want to change them. (ksc75 is a good choice)
- amp them, the t30 is better.
- superb fm radio, damn clear. Very good reception. The best so far I've tried

When you are commuting or going somewhere suddenly your battery dies off. Don't tell me you will stop by the cc, surf for few hours then only continue your journey? tongue.gif Anyways, different ppl have different needs wink.gif

Sony mp3s sounded great with superb battery life. It sounded a little bit bassy, clarity is good. However, sonicstage = headache sweat.gif

nowadays there are portable rechargers.. i mean.. can recharge ur battery, coz its a battery itself. that means you charge battery B , and use battery B to recharge ur mp3 player battery A. wont it cost a bomb to keep replacing AAA batteries lol. or.. somewhat inconvenient.. kekeke..

well, did you know that you can actually recharge 2-4 batteries aaa at one time and bring all of them as extras? If that is not convenient enough, I don't know what is. 2 aaa batteries can easily last me 2 weeks for 2-3 hours of listening every day. Anyways, this is going to be a pointless debate and is going nowhere tongue.gif

well, how old are they? I have one...you want? Built quality wise, is pretty good. SQ is very good with very strong output. I don't really need an amp to power my headphones. However, they are not that suitable for outdoors.

yeah, that's the sentence. sb told me about that. but actually, i dont understand what it means. why do u say that its not suitable for outdoors? because of batery life? or hdd sensitiveness?

sony s703 has awesome sound quality but poor product quality, i just sent for repairing this afternoon, sigh...
i used it almost everyday in gym n always got my sweat dripping over it, after using for bout 4 months, now all the buttons became irresponsive, maybe it wasn't design for sport use...

however i used to use my iriver T20 in the same way for gym too b4 i bought the s703, it caused no trouble to me at all, kinda disappointed in sony...

creative mp3s are affordable. The SQ also is quite reasonable for its price. Battery life I think almost 20 hours can be achieve with aaa batteries.

i havent seen one for mp3 player. just test hp with bluetooth can. since the quality of driver is not good enough, so its difficult to know that whether the wireless will affect the quality or not.

Hi all pros. I am thinking of getting a mp3 player with a budget of around RM500.. I have search around in garage sales and narrowed down to either Ipod nano 2GB or Samsung YP-K3 2GB. Can anyone let me know the pros and cons between these 2 models? My requirement is have a gd sound quality and reasonable playing time. As this my first time getting a mp3 player therefore I have no idea on the difference on both the players. Another thing is which player sales package headphone is better if you guys have tested both the player before. Anyone can enlighten me? smile.gif Thank you.

Hi all,

This is my first time buying an mp3 player so i need a recommendation. My budget is ~rm200-250 and from what i've read from this thread, the better choice for my limited budget and decent sound quality would be Creative products?

I'm looking for a 1-2GB storage player, continuous playtime at least 4-6 hours, rechargable. User interface does not matter much, as long as i can scroll through and select which songs to play.

Are there any specific model(s) recommended from Creative? Or are there better choices from other brands?

Thanks.

That's a lot of budget man.
I suggest go for Sony Walkman series if you look for a superb sound quality, go for Creative if you want more storage with cheap price:

http://www.sony.com.my/sonystyle/product/p...ubcategoryid=40

NWD-B103F
1Gb
RM199

Pro :
Direct USB
Drag & Drop Copy without Application Software
Built-in "Auto Transfer" Software
Easy music Transfer with MiniMicro
Additional Valued Functions :(Voice REC FMFM REC)
Multi Language Support for MENU
3-Line colour LCD
EQ

Con:
12 Hours Playback
Longer charging time = 2 hours to get full

IMHO, the sound quality is very good compare to other mp3 since it's carry the Sony "WALKMAN" reputation. I tried this one before, but I'm not get to it. Good for low budget choice.

or

NW-E013F
Rm299 for 1GB

Pro:
Clear audio technologies (Clear Stereo,Clear Bass) cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif
Small size & Glossy Colors
30h Playback 3min charge 3h play(QUICKCHARGE!)
Full charge for 1 hour
3 Lines Color LCD Display
Time Date
Direct USB(USB2.0)
VPT Acoustic engine 5 Band Equalizer
Blind operation concept
Multi Codec (ATRAC MP3 WMA AACL-PCM) : ATRAC Advanced Lossless is not supported
FM tuner
EQ
STAMINA 30 HOURS TOTAL BATTERY PLAYBACK flex.gif flex.gif flex.gif
Contra:
Sonicstage Software required

IMHO this is the best I own so far. The Clear Bass feature is superb. Beat the w850i bass quality. With the Clear Stereo features, you could hear more deep the music with wider ranger of dimension. This is totally for audiophiles out there. The bundle earphone did a very good job even it's look cheap.

You could also look for :

http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...4&product=16696

ZEN Stone PLus

2GB
RM270++ average depend on dealer.

Pro :
2GB storage for a small prize
Good sound quality compare the IPOD Shuffle(damn expensive!)
Easy transfer, drag and drop
Time clock
Sound Recorder, FM recorder
32 Preset Radio! shocking.gif
Blue OLED lcd
EQ

Contra:
May not beat Sony sound quality at all.
9 hours playback time(depend on mp3 bitrate)
Longer charging time

I bough this one because it's look so shiny and beautiful. Try it, and I can tell you, this is far better than the expensive IPOd shuffle in many term. It have A bass boost FEATURES, EQ. The sound quality is very good. If you want more, use other high end earphone because the bundle one with mp3 will never unleash its true performance.

Got a lot more to tell, but so far this 3 is the best I've found! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I have a question about the bitrate and playback time. Is it possible to estimate the playback time via ratio for higher bitrate files? i.e: is 128 gives 12hr playback , will ~250 gives 6hr?

yup, I think so nod.gif
like Zen Micro only play 6.5 hours on 320k bitrate, 128k may exceed 12-13 hours (as advertised / mention on manual)

I bought a Samsung YP-U2 and i must say i am really satisfied with it. rclxms.gif Sound quality is good even at low volumes ( for normal people like me, don't know about audiophiles heh). In fact, i even think it's clarity is better than my mobo's onboard realtek. laugh.gif

Playback hours stated is 15h, so far i played around 4 hours continously, and it only ate 1 bar from the battery life.

the difference between those two model is:
nwd-b103f is latest from sony + doesn't required sonicstage to transfer music (drag & drop) but with normal feature

NW-E013F is older model with more feature better design + quick charged...but still need sonicstage to transfer music

Actually Samsung is the cheapest korean brand in Malaysia and SEA compare to iRiver and iAudio, but it would be expensive on US and EU store due strong demand,

depends on how high u drop it from, and also various factors like the player itself, whether u drop on wooden floor or whatever floor, rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

but as a rule of thumb hdd based player will suffer more than a flash disk player.
this is coz hdd is more sensitive towards shock due to its nature
besides, hdd players are weigh more. thus when it hits the floor the impulsive force will be greater.

The Samsung one in garage sale is 512MB, But if u still want around that budget and 1GB, try Philips Sa2115 1GB (but use AAA batt). Sound quality is OK for the price..Or you juz topup RM40 and buy SOny 1GB NWD-103F 1GB like me loo..Sound better than philips SA2115 + it use rechargeable batt.

Heyz... I'm first timer here biggrin.gif

I just bought the new model of Sony NWD-B103F 1GB for RM199. Sounds are really good (although I never tried other MP3 Player), but a bit bulky compared to the E010 series. Another downside to reconsider is the battery life of maximum 12 hours only. The best part comes from the Drag and Drop Features which I noticed that many people complained about the Sonicstage program. It is literally Drag and Drop like a thumbdrive (sorry, i speak like a noob cry.gif )

I do recommend anyone to try this player. 2GB is RM299.

Here is two questions.

Since I'm a noob cry.gif can anyone recommend me a good earphone (not headphone) for a mp3 player? Other than Koss's KSC75 please (I want to make comparison). [Is creative ep-630 realli good? heard from sumwhere...]

Anyway, does the NWD-B103F have accesorries like silicon case or protector? Or it is not released?

Thanks~!!!

currently im using creative zen,

found that the navigation button is not so convinent to use, just 5 way button, and few menu and shortcut button. dont hv back light, cant see at dark place, but not a problem coz i already remember the button.

FM receiving not that good, found that some handphone can receive FM signal better then it.

oh, it doesn't hv video output, just able to watch video at the player itself, i think ipod (nano or classic) should hv the video out, but need to buy the cable.

good things about it is can play music up to 22hours.
charging time <2hrs. (thru PC USB)
hv SD slot, can expend later.
sound quality should be ok, never compare with other player. but the sound level cant drive the headphone to high volume, but shouldn't be a problem for earphones.
common audio format like MP3/WMA/WAV are supported. (if it can play lossless format like FLAC even better...)

you are wrong this time, while generally Creative's players perform better than iPods in SQ but not the case for Zen Vision/W.i owned 1 before, and even Nano perform better than it.the only good is the screen and CF card slot, kinda useful if you got a dSLR

May i ask for a favor?

I am looking for a mp3 player with following features:
1) Can put about 500-1000 songs. (2gb? 4gb?)
2) Good battery life (about 20-25 hours)
3) Well-functioned equalizer (like SE hp, MEGA bass?!)
4) Can display Chinese words (Simplified&Traditional as well)
5) Can separate my songs into my own-organized folders (like sentimental, r&b, hip hop, etc..)
6) Rechargeable inbuilt battery (not easily spoiled)
7) Of course, good sound quality

May i ask for a favor?

I am looking for a mp3 player with following features:
1) Can put about 500-1000 songs. (2gb? 4gb?)
2) Good battery life (about 20-25 hours)
3) Well-functioned equalizer (like SE hp, MEGA bass?!)
4) Can display Chinese words (Simplified&Traditional as well)
5) Can separate my songs into my own-organized folders (like sentimental, r&b, hip hop, etc..)
6) Rechargeable inbuilt battery (not easily spoiled)
7) Of course, good sound quality

No any brand is preferable, just quality and reasonable price.  smile.gif

Sony good at battery life, but sonicstage is necessary for music transfer. Samsung U2 is drag & drop ready, very good quality with 9 parametric custom eq for detail output.

if u go tru the review of many about meizu, they are very satisfied with the sound quality and even say it's at par with ipod. useabilit wise... guess they are not much diffrent.

the main diffrences between them is the pricing/capacity.

I'm not sure if everyone has noticed this but Harvey Norman's Year End promotion is on for its MP3 players (selected lines-lah).

Just only yesterday I was at the HN Pavilion, and got myself a RM259 Creative Zen Micro (6GB) MP3 Player. It used to be RM349 (RM90 savings).

Not only that, because I paid RM100 above, I received a HN Umbrella and a Samsung weighing scale for free. Talk about generosity.

About the MP3 player, 6GB of storage for 3,000 songs plus good sound quality. It uses a touch pad interface and has a user friendly GUI. Transferring songs is just drag and drop using the Creative Media Source program provided in the CD.

guys, recommend me a RM500 - 600 mp3 player.

thinking of samsung t10 because of its bluetooth connectivity. dunno about the SQ. is it good?

another choice is zune - large capacity, large screen, SQ??

lastly ipod nano - so that i can use my nike+ n track my run. (i dont see any of u guys discussed about it here so i assume its not good eh??)

so what do u guys think? sound quality is the priority. n do u have any idea what is the best bluetooth headset in the market? price ranging around 200 - 300??

thanks

yaa...currently i'm searching for mp3 player too. I had a chance to review sony a616 and ipod 3g yesterday at midvalley. well, sony's sound blew ipod IMHO. and a lot of head-fi forummers recommend sony a818/616 too. but, a bit expensive they are. And zune.....it's tempting me as well for its larger storage at cheap price and good SQ based on lyn members feedback . So to make my head clear before purchasing any product. which player is to go for in term of satisfaction-to-money for any products rm800 n below? meizu vs zune vs sony? notworthy.gif

i'm in dilemma rite now...can anyone tell me which one in my list produce the best sound....for me only audio quality matter...so if u know other player that better feel free to let me know....

1. ZUNE 4GB = RM690
2. Microsoft ZUNE 30GB = RM665
3. COWON D2 4GB Black - PMP = RM560
4. Meizu M6 SL = RM546
5. iAUDIO 7 Portable MP3 Player 8GB (Red) = RM577

my maximum budget is RM700...i'll be using it with iBasso D1 and recabled kcs 75 and porta pro...memory doesn't matter to me as i usually stick for the same album for a long time...and i'm only concern to play flac and lossless file...for now cowon D2 is my priority as it battery last to 52 hours, can play flac and expandable memory rclxms.gif zune 30 battery is questionable (around 14 hours)and can't play flac...issit good choice to wait for zune 4GB???and miezu m6 is so far had good review...

help me to choose one plez rclxub.gif

iAudio 7 should hv the longest battery life.. 60 hours as they claim.. bt both the iAudio 7 and Cowon D2 are from same company.. they dun really reach the battery life as the claim.. n both of them hv cold sound.. some ppl may find it sounds bad.. both can play lossless.. flac..

M6SL has warm sound.. bt for sound.. M6SP may hv a bit better compare to M6SL.. bt M6SP produce hiss sound to sensitive earbud.. bt i'll take M6SL for anytime as it is smaller.. better screen.. no hiss.. bt both of them suffer firmware bugs as meizu only focus on their M8 rite now..

nvr hear the zune b4.. bt u can find lotz of comment o review from other forumers..

Added on January 2, 2008, 1:54 ambtw.. can u let me kno where can gt COWON D2 at RM560??
mind to share??

Hi all,

Recently I had "retired' my old 4th gen iPod 40gb white. By the way, I am selling it now, please feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Business apart, I am thinking of getting a new MP3 / Multimedia Player. After some thinking, I think the minimum requirements for my desire MP3 player would be like this:

1) Storage: at least 6gb.
2) Size: No larger than the previous generation of iPod Nano.
3) User Interface: As friendly as the iPod user interface.
4) Price: No more than RM700. (It's a bit flexible, but don't be that expensive though)
5) Sound: Seriously, how do we define "good quality sound"?

I had a perfect candidate, the previous 6gb or 8gb version of iPod nano. However, I don't think its available anymore. Please give me your advice, no matter it is Samsung, Apple, iRiver, Sony, LG or anything else.

Thank you in advance.

i need a new player and below is my criteria :

1) able to output enough power to drive the hard to drive earphone such as IM716
2) High SQ
3) >12hours continuous battery life.

i have few in my mind:
1) SONY MD player : good SQ but they do not support MP3, damn it.
2) SONY S706f : SQ wise i have no idea, but 50H battery life and Noise cancelling is interesting
3) MS Zune : Short battery life, SQ reported to be above average, heavy price tag

plz comment

1. Kenwood HD30GB9 thumbup.gif
if i remember correctly, the price tag is around RM2000 in the av shop in klcc

2. Iriver ihp120 - super rare, yuheng is using this one with ibasso d1 rclxms.gif
price around 150usd for a second hand in ebay

and the more realistic ones are, IMO

1. Cowon

2. Meizu/Zune

3. Ipod/Creative

4. Sandisk

nvr tried samsung or sony b4 whistling.gif

Creative Neeon 2
or
Creative Zen V+

Just need opinion on which to choose. I don't want other brands cause I get very special prices for these 2.

Are you refering to zen micro photo?

If it is, then the photo viewing is so slooow n making hiss sound...
It's pointless to use it for photo viewing.. shakehead.gif

And it's battery life is very short... shocking.gif

The SQ is above good for me, very clear sound, but it lacks of bass.
I consider it as a value player..

Can anyone recommend me a MP3/MP4 with minimum storage space of 8gb? I'm previously an owner of an iPod nano 4gb but I realized that I'm quite limited with the songs I can have on my 4gb (yes, I'm a hardcore fan of music). =x

I'm looking around for a good player with sufficient space for all my songs. Would really appreciate it it anyone can point some in my direction. Thanks. (:

Yupp I love the Sony quickcharge and their product a lil bit pricy. I found a thread about Meizu player. 8gb for RM 550 and Ipod Nano 4gb RM550. Both can play video n audio. Any1 that have tried Meizu plz tell me ur experience? and is it worth to have it?

Big impact to my salary. LoL!

The highest DAP Equaliser parametric setting is Meizu (10) and Samsung YHJ70, YHJ50, YPU1/U2/U3, (9). But basically DAP with custom 5 paramertic is sufficent for optimal sq tweaking (like Creative).

if vids no matter than Meizu would fit you... and the drawback it only play 20fps conversion video

Q. How much important of EQ ?
A. Quite important, because it can make our suck earphones to good one, widen variable which also put our music more detail without expensive amp.

If you insist for DAP with wifi maybe itouch should be okay. Seems recently alot of software support for both apple iphone/touch... maybe one day they can come out with 3rd party software emulation for DSP ie. Equaliser control ..who know smile.gif

I still keen on DAP/PMP development but NONE of them surpass my ipaq SQ yet rolleyes.gif,

Hi There,

I may question which I couldnt find an answer to in previous posts. I'm looking for an MP3 player for my car. My car comes with an input jack and I saw just the kind of cable connector from belkin being sold in the Ipod shop. So I'd like to seek all the sifu's advice here.. bcoz my player will just sit in the car .. i dont care much about look/screen/etc.. I just need min 16 GB, good sound quality and the usual features like .. sort by album/artist/.. not too expensive too of course.

Any recommendations ?

Hi, Can Somebody can tell me which one is better...
Creative Zen Stone Plus with Build in Speaker or the Sony NW-E013F/N Series.

Which one is better if i want to play with a 2.1 speaker Such as SBS300, Creative Inspire M2600 or Altec Lancing ATP3. Thanks.

most (amplified) speaker can do what you mention as long the DAP has clean preset. Both is not bad but Zen Stone (and mostly Creative branded player) has similar like Shuffle signature which is very good

Hi All,

I am thinking of buying a mp3/mp4 player. After much consideration, I have shortlisted 3 mp4 players.

1. Meizu M6 SL 2GB @ RM330 via bulk.
2. Philips (Duno what model, promotion in ALL IT LowYat) 2GB, 2.4" @RM329
3. FunTwist D-Chord 386 - 2.4" 2GB with MicroSD support @ RM265

The functionalities of all these 3 players are almost the same. Personally I prefer either Meizu or FunTwist but would like to hear ur opinion on Philips also.

Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your advice biggrin.gif

After much consideration have decided to get Meizu M6 SP. My gf bought it for me in SG will get it this weekend only. The Price is SGD185. Is it cheap or expensive? I can't find SL so decided to go for SP. Any big difference between the two?

Wanna check with you all the original package doesn't come with charger right? Can i use Motorola mini USB charger to charge the unit?

Thanks biggrin.gif

Hi Encore, thanks for your reply.
i have one more question regarding the FM function.
Do we need to plug in the earphone as an antenna on FM radio mode?
i wish to use the speaker to listen the music inside the room.

Take the samsung P2, possibly one of the best sound clarity and base solid.

the phone bluetooth is another plus factor. I have ordered an Audio technica head phones and cant wait to hear how the sound is.

It's only able to music files through the built-in speaker.. the earphones serves as an antenna for the player to receive signal to the radio channels. The volume is pretty loud for this small fellow rclxms.gif

well.. although SQ of sony mp3 is not the best, but still consider quite nice.~~ the most powerful part of it is the battery life and charging time. damn... the battery like never run off and even i charge like 10 mins it can run a few hours.

iPod actually has a very good sound quality if you output the sound from its dock and not the headphone jack. I love iPod because its easy to navigate but the sound quality is crap. Not until I use the docking port to output the sound. The difference is so obvious. I never thought iPod could sounded that good. Don't use MP3 or AAC but use Apple Lossless format (M4A) for the best effect.

I listened to Sony, Samsung, Creative and yes they sounded good but still iPod docking port sounded the best to me.

I have 2 iPod now (Nano 2G 1st gen and Classic 80G 6th gen). I'm getting another iPod Nano 8G 3rd gen when I got my bonus next month laugh.gif

With proper line out any brand DAP can make differents, perhaps can overkill. rolleyes.gif
but portabilty does matter, people not keen to carry with player dock on the move, even somehow a small miniamp could be such hassle.

That's right. Portability is very important on the move. I've been listening to dock+amp for quite sometimes. One day I just bring my iPod alone without those extras and I can't listen to it for more than 5 minutes. I don't hate it but I just don't find any enjoyment in how it sounded so I got bored. All songs sounded flat even with my x3i.

Not an argument here just wanna share the experience biggrin.gif

well.. although SQ of sony mp3 is not the best, but still consider quite nice.~~ the most powerful part of it is the battery life and charging time. damn... the battery like never run off and even i charge like 10 mins it can run a few hours.

do we have a review or list of ranking for best mp3 by audio specialist.
i notice some of you are making your own review without having prior knowledge of another brand. lets see the rating first.

u meant best mp3 player?

it's hard to make a general list. everyone has different taste of audio signature. some prefer samsung, some sony, some cowon and while some apple(with mod)

if u want a list of (popular) mp3 player, head to cnet for it.

sony A820? i guess u either in US or Japan. if Japan, go for P2 since A820 japanese model still tied to sonicstage IIRC. else both players are good. among the best sounding flash player. dont forget cowon D2 too.

D2 and P2 are both touchscreen.

P2 selling rm8xx here. A820 no sure, if not mistaken, not even launched yet here

sony has good sound but not very good. they have tweaked the sound of their played to sound nice. usually more bass. samsung and cowon are more neutral.

P2 also support bluetooth but imho, stick with wired earphone for best audio quality. ditch the stock earphone and get a better one to justify ur future player smile.gif

Sony have launch new MP3 player for E020 Series. But I couldn't find any info from the SONY web page.
Kind of weird. I got the brouches from the Sony fair.

E020 Series
NWD-E023F (1GB) - RM299
NWD-E025F (2GB) - RM369

B100 Series
NWD-B103F (1GB) - RM179
NWD-B105F (2GB) - RM249

The price gab is big, I only can see the different is 'Clear Bass' and 'Clear Stereo'. Both series support drag & drop.

Is anyone try these model? Can comment about the 'Clear Bass' and 'Clear Stereo'? Is there really a make a different?

Thanks

i'm using the A805 at the moment....it's a really good mp3 player...the screen is very sharp and detailed so if your eyes are used to watching small stuff, movies look good smile.gif

the sound is also good, no background hissing or static...can't compare with other mp3 players on the SQ since i didn't do a comparison smile.gif

now the BIG con that most ppl will mention...is that the 80x series needs to use sonicstage to transfer your songs...no drag and drop like the newer 61x and 81x series

I believe the thin round tube model would be Sony's NW S-200 series, not sure if they're still selling it as I didn't see it on Sony Malaysia's website anymore....

As far as i know, the nwz-a816 model is identical to the nwa-806 and that the most obvious difference is that the 816 model is drag and drop whereas the 806 needs to use Sonicstage to transfer songs...there are other differences between the 2, but I can't seem to rmb all of em at the top of my head right now...

Just remembered, the 816 model has no gapless playback and can't create on the fly playlists...

Can anyone recommend me an mp3 player with budget rm400-500 at most.

-all i care is sound quality
-capacity is not important, I usually put only few songs, then when feel like changing songs, simply del, copy, paste, etc. 1GB will do, but it might be too low for nowadays.
-no need video
-not a fragile one, most sony mp3 player are like that, correct me if im wrong :b
-not too big, and it wont look bulky when i hang it at my waist, or anywhere else
-no need to be fancy, SOUND QUALITY ALWAYS COMES FIRST
-if there is any, are they any that can play lossless format?
-no need to be user friendly. If the best mp3 player is not friendly at all, i'll take that one, as long as it's playable.(basic functions need to be there; playlist, shuffle, etc)

tq

Thanks.

Is there any technical spec that can prove that the SQ is different from A726 and S616. Just wonder worth for another 100 to get the A series, then loss the FM function (even is not important). I even compare the technical spec, it shows all the same.

A726 = RM 599 with MDR-EX082 Headphones (worth RM100)
S616 = RM 499 with normal Headphones but come with FM function

SQ is more important for me. Currently have a pair of PX100. Just wonder the different between this 2 model is it noticeable?

Heyz there! I have quite a number of questions here...

**********************

Question 1: [add theme song here]

Recently I borrowed my friend's Samsung U3 and compare it to my Sony NWD B103F. I realized that the function for "shuffle" is much different: U3's shuffle do not include repeat function whereas B103F's shuffle includes repeat function; that is, shuffle in U3 will not repeat the same songs being played before (unless restarting the player or all the song has been played already) whereas shuffle in B103F will at times repeat what has been played before (sometimes when I press 'next', it will play the same current song again T.T).

Is this true for all Samsung mp3 players (that is, 'shuffle' = shuffle ONLY) and Sony mp3 players (that is, 'shuffle' = shuffle + repeat) respectively? I find it irritating for the Sony to repeat the same song again.

**********************

Question 2:

Why is there a Samsung product called K5? Apparently, Samsung's website does not promote K5 at all. By the way, what happen to U2? Samsung's website does not promote it as well.

refer http://www.samsung.com

**********************

Question 3:

Can Samsung K3 beat all of Sony's mp3 players in terms of sound quality? What's the current price of K3 now?

Wah...you so willing, is quite expensive. I still considering the NWZ-A726 for RM599

Btw, where to plan to get it? is there any place can get the cheaper or only Sony Center. But I would aspect Original only.

A : The Sony probably use random which possible play again the same files again, not sure all Samsung model has this feature

Question 2:
Why is there a Samsung product called K5? Apparently, Samsung's website does not promote K5 at all. By the way, what happen to U2? Samsung's website does not promote it as well.

refer http://www.samsung.com
**********************
A: The K5 also known as S5 is USA, promotional base on region and due incoming model like P2, but it doesnt mean K5 production stop because it sill have demand in USA, FYI its latest firmware enable FLAC file support

Question 3:
Can Samsung K3 beat all of Sony's mp3 players in terms of sound quality? What's the current price of K3 now?
**********************
A: maybe YES, because Korean made DAP better than Japan, but recent model from Sony is good unlike the old days

Question 4:
How does the bitrate of an mp3 (e.g. 128kps, 320kps, etc.) affects the quality of the mp3? Does it affect in terms of amplitude (loudness), frequency range (pitch) or something else?
**********************
A: Quite subjective, u need to judge by yourself. Sometime a 320k sound no better than 160k if they not using good player and headphones.

Question 5:
Am I asking too many questions?

**********************
A: whynot,

Answer:There are 2 mode in sony, 1 is shuffle and 1 is shuffle+repeat. I think u must be using shuffle+repeat.

Question 3:

Can Samsung K3 beat all of Sony's mp3 players in terms of sound quality? What's the current price of K3 now?

**********************
Answer:Actually sony are using samsung's chips. So basically there all share the same quality. But trust me, u will never wrong with sony.

Question 4:

How does the bitrate of an mp3 (e.g. 128kps, 320kps, etc.) affects the quality of the mp3? Does it affect in terms of amplitude (loudness), frequency range (pitch) or something else?

**********************
Answer:The bitrate mainly affect the detail of one song. U will heard more detailed background sound, instrument etc when using high bitrate songs.

Wow encore! Thx for reply! I have achieved enlightenment. thumbup.gif

The biggest surprise in your reply is K5 = S5! Haha. Interesting model, but I find any audio model with speakers outside will provide not so good quality (I fancy sub woofer btw). Don't really like the idea of paying extra money for external speakers. Just my two cents. biggrin.gif

One more question: What does it mean "DAP"? [No, I'm not talking about politics here] This term has been used all over the audiophile forum, but a noob like me (seriously) can't understand. whistling.gif

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yo JY.! Thx for replying!
About the sony's 'shuffle' function, I think the only one that can choose between "shuffle" and "shuffle+repeat" is the new A-series model. Older models only let you choose "shuffle+repeat". Maybe I should need to recheck again. (my B103F can only do "shuffle+repeat") By the way, thanks for sharing your view on bitrates. biggrin.gif
One more question: Is there any significance difference between Sony and Samsung? What factor will let one choose Sony over Samsung or vice-versa?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Guys, what happen to Samsung's U2??? I heard it is a good model, but when I checked the website, it is not being promoted. rclxub.gif

Seriously? But last time my sony bean also have 'shuffle only' function but im not sure about sony other model, but my ex-s610 series has this kinda function. Regarding y i choose sony but not samsung, i also don know..... :PMay b i prefer the sony design more than samsung and the battery life of sony. Plus now sony support drag n drop, i cant think of any reason y i not to choose sony. laugh.gif Anyway, im sony hardcore fans, my point may not true for others, lets wait wat others forumer says. thumbup.gif

DAP stands for digital audio player laugh.gif

Nope. The B100 Series do not have the quick charge feature. The quick charge feature is only start from E020 Series onward. I got my S610 Series. The battery life is Amazing.....

Hey there!

I need advice in buying a video walkman...

Among these models:

1) Samsung's T10 4GB [RM539]
2) Sony's NWZ-A726 4GB [RM599]
3) Sony's NWZ-S616 4GB [RM499]

Which ones are better in terms of SQ? Which one is worth it in price? [Ignore Bluetooth function in T10] Btw, does Sony's NWZ-S616 have "shuffle" function (without "repeat")?

Thanks in advance. =D

Get the S616. I used to have one. The sq is damn good. But bear in mind that the stock earphone os sux. If not mistaken, the A726 comes with a sony EX earphone. I used to have one. The sound is the best among stock MP3 earphone. It depends on u, if u do not plan to stick to stock earphone, get the 616 and save the 100 bucks for a better earphone. Regarding the shuffle+repeat function, if my mind serves me right, S616 does have both, which means 1. shuffle. 2. shuffle+repeat.

I am new to digital gadget. pls dont kill me if i ask this question.

I am looking for a digital player that have the following : -

1. Have digital USB and optical out.
2. can play flac/monkey audio/mp3
3. good SQ output / bit perfect/ Raw output without sound processing.
4. about 8GB Flashram will do.
5. Around RM 400.
6. Audio output/earphone is not important.

Basically want to use it to replace the CD player. Use this mp3 to output optical to my ZERO DAC and then to the HIFI. so the source must be HIFI.

Is logitech slimdevice SB3 popular here?

A lot of software manager (cum file transfer) require on the spot connection with your device which may harm devices become hot because of long to stay connected. Basically its has to "always connected" to its software base in order to send video files, once you disconnected the conversion might stop. So this kind of software manager is very troublesome because you cannot makes individual conversion in case you want to send the files later. Video conversion takes ages especially the codec has compatibility issue. Some of my conversion consume 15 minutes for music video, somehow its take 4 hours to complete sweat.gif

The best solution for video playback is to buy a dedicate Portable Media Player (PMP) or PDA's. wink.gif

Hmm... you mean the software provided by the CD will only allow us to convert the video files when it is connected to the mp3 player??? T.T

Btw, what format can only be played in Sony's A726/S616? Maybe I will try to find an external program from elsewhere where I can convert it without being connected to the player. =D

Hello..i own a Sony Nwz-A826, i've purchased it over a month and it still blows me off each time i listen to it. Basically, A726 and A826 is same just that A726 comes without bluetooth. I must say i love this player very much. It has incredible battery power. The screen has very good quality and is a good size also, the player is made out of quality and I'd say superior materials. Amazing sound quality. 4/5 stars. I would only give this player 5 star if it comes with FM radio. A726 is a great buy.

If you want a good sound quality, I bell all will say iPod is not good.
But modded 5.5G iPod the sound quality is very nice and you need an amp for it. smile.gif

iPod not good? Thats not really true, indeed it isn't the best but saying its not good? doh.gif

Creative Zens are great, but I've seen people having their Zens die on them fairly frequently.

Sony Mp3 somehow better than Walkman 2.0 SE phones. Hi end SE phones come with Walkman 3.0 better algorithm sound processing (which is good after EQ tweaks), which phone model ?

hmm... I would pick SE phones with walkman 3.0 over sony mp3 player coz phone enable support, but for mp3 player is alot handy

The original headphone that comes with ipod does not really has good sound quality...but if you change to better headphones like sennheiser, crossroads mylar, koss etc...the sound quality improves so much...it is nice...

Actually sound quality depends on few factors:
1) Your MP3 player itself - the sound "processing center"
2) The quality of your earphone - this is like your speaker
3) The bit rate of your MP3 songs - If you are installing a song with only 128 bit rate, sure it will sounds bad as compared to a song with 320Bit.

SE phones is handy phone with basic music player support, the bass isnt omph for technohead.. but it still have clarity. The problem lies is the bad SQ earphone supplied. When using a quality IEM/ earphones sound is quite good. SE software Walkman 1 has poor clarity but on version2/3 the SQ is improved.

Unless for people who dont care cellphone with music support, a dedicate DAP is recommended for serious smile.gif

the problem doesn't lie within the earphone SQ. SE does supplied decent earphone for its W series. the in-ear supplied with most W series is derivation from SONY EX series. Most of the after market earphone sold is indeed not the same as the originally supplied by SE. Even those which u can find in LYN sales section is NOT original, even if they claim so.

the problem lies within the onboard chips for sound processing. they are no match for dedicated mp3 players
