QUOTE(Doom)
hahah that's ur answer ... I'm not sure how good is the cooler on ur card compared to the stock version and ur fan setting so can't judge about it ...

but if u put a fan at the side and blow towards it at least the whole card feel cooler a bit .. just small gain but rather than none. .
problem is it can only be a temp solution....too much dust in my room..in the end itll get worse coz the GC cooler will be clogged with dust doh.gif

annd the stock cooler should be the same with other reference coolers... fan setting at 60%

A05 users need some answers from you guys smile.gif

Let's say the back of the PSU where the on/off button located exhaust out hot air. It will go out tru the front of the case right? Then right above it there is an intake fan. Would there be much of a problem?

Hehe, bcos i straight saw the 4 holes, then i straight measure without thinking lo.. silly me doh.gif

yeah the paxmate i only use 1 and a half piece of them, still left 2 and half pieces.. bcos one of my side panel is mesh side panel + 25cm side panel fans, therefore i only paste it at the bottom part, some at the front part and some at the back.. will post some pics later when im free hehe.. was thinking to make it all black, but the nice aluminum will all be covered and it'll be kinda wasted hehe..

but for the bottom part u need to cut some holes so that u can put back the HDD holder nicely thumbup.gif

Hehe, i was being too stupid to straight go and measure the distance between the screw's hole.. bcos i don't have a 8cm fan right now, so without matching, i saw the top part of the casing, and instinctively, i took the ruler and direct measure the distance between the screw's hole doh.gif

Pic already taken, will upload them by tonight.. but actually there's nothing special lo, just cut them into nice shape so that they can fit into the casing nicely, so don't expect too much from the pic hehe icon_rolleyes.gif

I also have a PaxMate Plus on my LL PC-7B. Put 2 piece (one at the bottom and one at the side) but i decided to take it out in the end. Does not like that thing to block the nice view of beautiful aluminum of the casing..LOL...

Anyway, i noticed its harder to put the PaxMate at the bottom because of the HDD rack. Unlike my previous C5 where the bottom is totally free, the hdd rack of the LL is blocking the PaxMate..LOL..

Yea, its removable. But i am reluctant to cut the PaxMate which i needed to do so if i wanted to place it at the bottom of the casing..

Anyway, my main intention now is to get the Patent Side Panel Fan and the LL Thermal and Fan Controller. Will take a picture of my casing when i have the time as well...

LOL..Spend some time cleaning it and show off the bling bling HSF mar..Its a beauty.

Anyway, EX-33 looks beautiful to me. Was planning to get it in the first place but its too expensive for me and well, i dont feel it will look nice on my PC-7B. For now, i guess single 12cm intake is enough for the front..

Hi, pics uploaded as promised.. again, sorry for the low quality of pic as it's taken by my webcam.. i don't have a digital camera cry.gif

My lovely lian-li casing wub.gif (with it's little bro coolermaster Xcraft)
user posted image user posted image user posted image user posted image

Some close-up for the HDD cage:

user posted image user posted image

For the back part (with the 2 screws), before pasting the paxmate, gorek 2 holes 1st by using screwdriver or any sharp object so that it is easier to screw it later.

For the front part (a sliding metal hold by the holder), i cut a line as a opener, so that the metal can go through the paxmate and being held by the holder.

the hard part is pasting the paxmate to the case.. really have to be patient hehe sweat.gif

Another few pics for other parts of casing with paxmate
(behind and front)

user posted image user posted image user posted image user posted image

For the front and back part, just cut the size and shape according to the flat surface (as shown in the pic).

i think i'm going to same thing with PC-A10 la... FYI, the HDD cage is rivetted to it's base, i think, un-rivetting them and rescrew or re-riveting might possible? (thinking to rotate to the other side (hiding those connector purpose)

Nicely done with the PaxMate there. Will check out what i can do with my PaxMate for now..LOL..

@sniper69

I tried to do that with my PC-7B but after some checking, its not doable on original PC-7. Need some modifications...I do love to have a sideway HDD rack for easier cable management.

Yalo, according to him, original price is around RM70++ (forgot already), but i got my unit for RM25 hehe.. but for it's ori purpose which is to reduce the noise produced by the fans, i don't really test it as in like a 'before and after', my purpose is just to enhance the look only hehe..

yeah i did the same, and from the research laugh.gif, i have to do some quite a lot of work, once the HDD cage turned, i figured, another problem arise, how will the SATA power & data cable will route to? unsure.gif, need to study again... smile.gif
*
Well, yea, that might be a problem but at least it will be better than my current setup. I tried both ways on my current setup :

Sata cables facing outsite (mobo area) and Sata cables facing inside (front intake fan area) and both setup doesnt seem too good. Its still kinda hard to manage it which makes me wonder how can i shift the HDD tray sideways.

hehe, thanks for the compliment  blush.gif it's actually an easy job, but need a lil bit of patience  icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, at least its not easy for me. I tried very hard last time to see how can i do it but i turned lazy at the end..LOL..Its hard to match the HDD tray screw holes to the PaxMate.Besides, i think i need to cut the other end as well (the part where the other leg of the HDD tray slides in)..In the end, i gave up. Any tips on how to do that?

LOL..Luckily i did not peel off the back when tried to install the PaxMate. Another reason for me not using the PaxMate anymore in my LL (Transfered to my C5) is because i am reluctant to cover off those beautiful aluminum internals of the casing..LOL...

Hemm the paxmate come with 2 size right? one is memang fit the bottom size one (but i still cut a bit bcos it's too long). use that one, do the marking 1st at the bottom of the paxmate (below the white paper where u'll going to tear it away soon), then cut it, then only tear off the white paper to paste it.

for the slide in part, just cut a line as a opening.. this part is a bit tricky a bit, as you've put your hdd cage's leg through the opening, slide it into the holder 1st before paste and press it firmly.. sorry for my poor description sweat.gif

hehe, if really nextime change casing, then sell the paxmate together with it lo.. bcos i still have a lot of paxmate.. for the remaining paxmate i think i still can use it on other 2 more casings hehe..

Well, just a piece of advice, make sure that your DVD Rom is compatible with the bezel. Not sure whether there is any compatibility issues with certain drive or not though..

Friend 1 : Lian Li? was that a brand?

Friend 3 : how much you bought it
myself : (assuming that he knew about Lian Li, i just said) "tujuh"...
Friend 3 : 70? that's cheap
myself : nope, it's 70 for the 2x ROM bezel tongue.gif, and 700 for the case... and it's more expensive than your phone

even my dad knew about Lian Li (not that he knew the brand), by looking its built quality and sleek design, instantly my dad guess... it's RM500 +, well at least not that RM50 tongue.gif

"Lian Li is still ok la, but Coolermaster is much more expensive (without mentioning any specific model)".
That was like 3 years ago when the cheapest lian-li is RM300 above. If the people have no knowledge about the brand, then its not their fault. But the worst thing if they assuming they know about it and came out with a false statement.

Totally agree with that!! the ladies do have something against lian li....as for my example earlier...i've negative comments from my gf, my sexy assignment partner, my female housemates...
Maybe lian li cases are very too rigid, classic and professional looking for the ladies but i dun think that's the reason, i think it's the name they wan tease about!! sweat.gif

wah..if i say like tat, i'll definitely get bashing and ear piercing shouting from my gf which is all too cute when she does tat.

geez...i wonder wat Lian Li means in chinese...i do read a bit of chinese character, but i cant make any sense out of it.
1. Lian ->? (no sure wat it means)
2. Li -> strength or power, if i'm not mistaken.

Hehe, but my gf said that the casing is nice when i show her through webcam (she is in adelaide now).. guess what? it is because she saw the blue colour fan inside my casing, not because of the aluminum doh.gif (i think webcam cant show it clearly also).. and one thing, i didn't mention to her that the brand is lian-li tongue.gif .

Hehe, if want to become a 'girl-magnet' casing, just mod it and become bling bling casing, with cool side panel and uv light inside tongue.gif

my sister says lianli casing very elegant. she likes it very much. she just says that the price is quite high and not worth it. a centurion5 is the maximum that she would pay for a casing.

eh, how come? im using Autosol to polish my interior, and it shines like new..
but i got problem when applied it to the large surfaces sweat.gif

anyway u need to complete 2 things;
1. apply the appropriate amount of Autosol, and then rub the desired area
2. use the other towel or same towel with clean part and rub the same area to clean the dark part..

but i cant managed to polish the black area (front, top and side panel) sweat.gif

anyway here is the sample result for polishing the PC-G7 pci slots using an Autosol (sorry for the low image quality)

Doom, using the A05 how do you turn off the PSU besides removing the front panel? Is it always on and if you want to tun it off you just plug out the power cord?

Hhaha ..Normally I don't need to switch off my PSU .. coz usually I just unplug all the plugs connected to the power socket.

Yah u need to remove the front panel to gain access to the power switch behind of the PSU ....

Anyway just got back from ATE today ... BS-02 still out of stock and Billy said he's trying to get some and he wants me to confirm how many units that LYN forumer wants .... so that he could be certain how many units to bring in ....

as for the CD-ROM bezel there are plenty for black at the price of RM35 each ...so go grab it while stock last ....

Using Autosol only allowed u to polish it back to the way it is but not mirror shine .... it just can't .. I tried myself ... an hour long polishing the surface of an aluminum but it just won't shine likes mirror.....

I tried modeling kit's polisher and it works better in term of getting better polishing result but it's still far from mirror shine....

Well, i thought the BS02 will be compatible with all LL casing considering if you have a mesh side panel window? I am sure the PC-7 is not going to be compatible with the BS03 as there is no holes at the back of the casing to suck /push air. For the BS02, just make sure that your GC's HSF is not blocking the fan itself..

Doom, did u saw any A05B in ATE??

I heard about Lian Li when it was first introduce here back around 1998 ...

I'm not sure that's the Lian Li case or not but it should be coz it's the only case at that time that comes in full aluminum without PSU yet cost RM800 per unit ...

My brother told me how he wished to grab one of those ... but too bad until now .. he's still using CM 530 only ...

Hi,

Something to request you guys's help.

My display got shadow and after a while. It will gone. It might something to do with FAN. I am remember about the exact the cause but I do remember someone raise this problem before.

I am not sure the inflow fan or exhaust fan that spin not enough air in or out cause the display card show shadow. Do you guys remember and let me know the solution?

Please advice.

@akachester, Hyde`fK, E-J@1

hehehe ,, the two fans are joined with zip tie ...

Then it's tight to the rear exhaust holes with wire strip...

And there are two PCI slot bracket that screwed at the bottom of the fan as supporter .. .most won't realized it ..

hheheh look carefully in the picture ,,, there's a bit of shine at the bottom of the fans...

There's no side blow holes were done coz there's no need for the passive cooling 7300GT .... the dual fan already more than enough to cool off the card..

Besides the owner only play simple 3D game with the rig .. it just can't torture the card too much ....

Does the Lian Li A05 has adjustable PSU tray?

I am afraid that my Strider 560W would not fit in there because strider is slightly thicker because the 120mm fan grill occupies some space outside of the PSU. I scared that the fan grill would be blocked by the PSU support stand at the bottom of the PSU compartment in the A05.

Commonly Lian Li cases comes with slightly adjustable PSU tray to allow usage of most PSU, but this A05 don't seem like it. So need an answer from the users.

Sorry, is it confirmed fit if less than 5mm?

Don't intend to turn the PSU upside down. The cable outlet would hard to manage.

Most likely it will be able to fits in ... as long as u don't tight the thumb screw so deep down ...

Yah it could tolerate and fit in ,,,, but the best would be u bring the PSU to test it out ... on the safe side....

Can't say for sure but from the looks of it, it will fit. Your hard disk would be mounted slightly towards the other end of hdd compartment.

@james...
i think the 38mm thick fan should be ok, because, i see the way of your HDD mounting is either facing to frontal panel or the other side (if you know what i mean), so i guess, it'll fit... icon_idea.gif

Haha, thanks to Madman's pic, i already bought myself the dvd-bezel, very nice indeed.. but how come the cover is not aligned with the surface? as in when i look from the side, the upper part of the dvd-cover goes into the casing a bit.. or i have to push the dvd-rom outside a bit?

Not sure how thick that will be but i tried mounting 3 types of fan before (1 is a delta fan, 1 FM121 and 1 Noctua SI1200) and all three fit without any problem..Plenty of space left for the HDD..

I do not like the stock LL fan as well. Doesnt push enough air, noisy and coupled with the LL filter, its as good as without a fan already..

I find LL fans to push quite alot amount of air comparing with other fans but the noise is audible.

While the rear set to exhaust to take out the hot air taken from the top ...

yah a bit but just screws it down and there would be slight gap about 1 to 2 mm ....

so have to push the burner out slightly to match the gap ...

but there's no real problem at all coz the drive's tray able to eject properly .

i tried that already.... not much different. maybe because the hot air is trap inside the psu cause the air flow is being converted to the side. so it stuck in front in the middle before going to the side.

Your PSU uses a 120mm fan?

I need to know whether the casing would fit a silverstone strider 560W or not? Because the i scared the space for the PSU compartment would not fit the PSU with the bulging 120mm fan grill.

@Polar_012

Are u sure it's fine for the processor to run with passive cooling on Ultra-120 ??

I thought Ultra-120 series required high CFM fan to utilize it's performance..

Anyway share some 'Cacing' over here ....

@kalakatu

Why on earth do u need to mod G7 ... it's a great case for both cable management and cooling performance...

Not very sure because my temps reading is totally wrong. Now showing at 22C at bios doh.gif .

I put my fan 3-pin socket to the CPU fan header and the fan won't spin...had to off the smart fan method at bios.

Now installed a fan but i can't seem to install the fan clip properly. The air above my rams are cooler. Before this very hot.

*
Yah ...for the fan clips to work properly u have to apply the pin into the heatsink hole nicely before attach the fan ...

wah ultra 120 n tracer rams...........very nice indeed.......

btw as doom mention earlier ultra 120 do need high air flow to achieve cooling......passive setup wont do any good from it

Went to ATE again yesterday to check on the availability of those fans but to my dissapointment, no stock again as off yet. Wondering how long it takes for them to restock once?

Was tempted to get the temperature/fan controller as well though but decided not to for the moment. Might get it when i go and purchase the fan from them..

Just to share my experience. The A05 casing has good airflow. Maybe because i mount the PSU with the 120mm fan upwards, together with the front exhaust it pushes alot of air out of the case and pulls air from the back. Besides the hot air coming out of my GTS goes right up. If using other normal ATX casing where the exhaust holes of GTS faces down, the hot air stays there.

It is a good casing. However the 25cm fan isn't recommended. 1st with that big meshed window at the side panel, you probably hear sounds from each of your fans in the casing. Yup the mesh window made the sound very audible.

2nd the internal of the casing would get very dusty quickly.

u r right only rm280, the 25cm fan is sucking too much of dust to the panel, i prefer the panel without the fan.

@sniper69
Do you really need the drive bezel for your PC-A10?

I thought A10 door is to hide the ugly drive colour (non matching black or white) for being see.

Closing the door also will hide the LCD front panel as well, unless you keep the door open all the time.

I think without the 25cm fan, you can still install those LL patent side panel fan.
It help to cool down the graphic card air zone.

Basically the side patent fan that WebWalker refers to Lian Li own side fan frame with fan ..

There are two model BS-02, BS-03 ..there should be another one which is currently no more available ... But still could get it from some other older model ...

BS-02 draw or exhaust according to the fandiection directly ..

while BS-03 uses the fan frame as air guide to exhaust air ..

Oh, too bad then. If not, you will have a whole family of TR towers there together with a LL casing..LOL..It would be beautiful..

Anyway, i am really eager to get the side fan but ATE still does not have them. Leave me no choice but to DIY my own side panel fan..LOL..Tie 2 LL Led fan to the side of the mesh panel using wires to cool the GC area off as off now. But i am using it as intake instead of exhaust though..LOL...

LOL..yea, its a very useful setup for the time being until i get my hands on the side panel fan. I did a different setup actually. What i did is just tie the fan using wire to my mesh side panel.

your whole sidepanel is mesh. must be a lot of dust.
but there's an advantage where u can hook up your fans anywhere.
why don't u use black tie-wrap. looks better than the bare wire.

my PC-G7 side panel mesh is used as vent for exhaust. but the airflow is being blocked a lot by the mesh.
i can't set as intake cos i don't have filter. anyone plan to buy sth from uglyvamp? can get one filter for me? i'll pay u when cod.

Yea, i have posted them in the 8series thread.

Anyway, my main intention with this dual 12cm fan cooling is for my GC which is causing me alot of heat problem thus far. Heat rises from 58c to 70c during idle after a day or two without turning the PC off. This temperature is in a fanless environment. Then, i need to think of a solution first before i get my hands on the side panel fan and thus, came up with this idea (thanks to you) on a dual fan setup..LOL..

Temperature wise, it used to be about 58c when i turn on my PC and shoot up to 70c after a day or two without turning my PC off. This is on idle. After putting those dual fans there, it is about 54c when i turn my PC off and never shoot up above 58c after over 2 days already..Incredible result indeed. rclxms.gif Love side panel fans..In fact, its at a constant 57c now on idle. Keep in mind, this are on the poor LL fan that i do not like last time. I am wondering, how good it will be if i get my hands on the side panel fan and replace it with a SS..LOL...

Well, thats a main problem for me thus far - dust. But i have no choice but to do this at the moment to control the temperature of my GC. This is just a temporary solution until i get my hands on my side panel fan first. About the wire, well, at first, i tried to use black cable-tie but it wouldnt go into those mesh. They are simply too thick at the moment. Anyway, i dont mind it looking ugly as off now cause this is just a temporary solution. All i need is filters..LOL...

since my Asus EN7950GT went dead just now cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif, i think i'm going to give my Lian Li a simple touch up brows.gif... here's what i'm going to do (i think)

1. the motherboard tray - thinking to cut some hole (not exactly a hole though), simple rectangular hole for easier cable management (hiding the ATX power cable)

2. the chassis - make way for cables, currently i need to use long way to use the cable routing, (i think picture might help)

3. HDD cage - rotate to the other side, means, the power / data cable will be facing on the right side instead of left side, result... cleaner look as no visible cable...

4. sleeving all cables with black sleeving kit...

the sleeving can wait, since not necessarily, but for HDD cage and those holes, i'm hoping my cheapo tools will do the job, otherwise, afraid ended up screwed up the whole A10a... sweat.gif

yawn.gif if i remember correctly, his/her question in the last (closed) thread that "whether TR-03 can control fan or not" (something like dat la)

icon_idea.gif so i answer the TR-03 can control fans, but & i mean but not manually instead AUTOMATICALLY...

so here's the question: (this time read it thoroughly ya smile.gif )

Can that device control fan? as well ? anyone has it
*

  • i didn't reply like this:

"Yeah nod.gif TR-03 can control fan what, just like those manual fan control but the device got no knob, but u still can control the fan JUST LIKE A MANUAL FAN CONTROLLER"

  • instead i replied like this:

    QUOTE(E-J@1 @ Jul 25 2007, 09:09 PM)
this device can control fans but not manually la tongue.gif automatically

let say ur proc heat up to 60C & ur VGA heat up to 60C shocking.gif

then our LiLi TR03 here will summon the device to ram up all the fans that connected to it to run in full speed rclxms.gif

    boleh la for non-OCer rclxm9.gif
    *

i answered him correctly not giving false facts, not spamming & not confusing him stating TR-03 cannot control fans while it can control fans automatically rclxub.gif

& a device that controls fan automatically will always & still be known & categorized as a fan controller device just that it won't be categorized under a manual fan controller that got knobs, okay???

QUOTE(Doom @ Jul 25 2007, 09:12 PM)
... software control is different from human control ...
*
yup, it's different BUT did he ask the question whether TR-3 can control fan manually? blink.gif did he? did he?

i guess not, he only ask whether the device can control fan or not, so my answer is yes by software control cool2.gif

QUOTE(LExus65 @ Jul 26 2007, 08:02 AM)
... i tot TR-3 cannot control the fans, just monitor only........
*
wrong, at first i had the same impression like u --> then i just have to, i have to ask Mr. Google for an answer coz i hate being an ass hole who giving conclusion without providing any proof, so here it is:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Read the review & get ur facts right smile.gif

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Jul 26 2007, 09:27 AM)
hmm.gif, i'm using the TR-03, well, it shows that it can control the fan speed, but not manually, it's automatically... when the temp reading (from temperature probe) reaches threshold icon_idea.gif...

has anyone has an idea on how-to removing those stain on aluminium? laugh.gif, my fingerprints all over the place la, i can't leave traces whistling.gif whistling.gif...
*
huh!!! leh control la pulak??? ni apa cite ni, camne nk control xde knob, lu biar betul... muahahahaha

just what i'm been talking about, the device can control fan BUT NOT MANUALLY INSTEAD AUTOMATICALLY

thanks for clarifying this out man, i hope if another newbie comes here and ask the same question we will able to answer him correctly, not confusing him

well, the way i see it (browsing the Lian Li site), it can be done through removing those rivets and relocate the HDD cage, this same way as my PC-A10a, i just relocate them for better cable management brows.gif

can be done....just need to unscrew (yes, screw) the HDD cage and drill out new holes to mount it in a 90deg position.

personally....i wouldnt do it. blocks the airflow of the front intake fan. and the HDD wont be getting much or even any cooling from the front intake fan.

all u need is a momentary switch. u can even use a doorbell switch for it. anyway, just remove the switch and take it to an electronics spare parts store (like those in jalan pasar) and ask them for it. once u have it, just need to cut off the cables from the old stich, connect it to the new one... and ur done.

It should be AC97 rather than High Definition since there's no port to connect woofer and rear speakers...

wow... good casing there, planning to get 1 if got the $$$, been googling around the photo of the case, seems spacious enough for water cooling setup, can mount it either behind the case as there are prebuilt holes for tubings, or cut the bottom and mount it at the bottom. how u all think bout this case?

It should be the same if not mistaken ... never noticed it ..

in order to use the o-ring ... there's need to cut hole to fit in nicely ...

looks like for V300, longer Gc like x2600xt can't fit in... sad.gif
love the design so much!!

edit: just realize, looks like for V350 they upgrade the front intake to 2 x 120mm...
and also got removable fan module.....thumbup.gif

i think in v350, it can fit longer Gc...

yah .. it comes with blue color ...

the only down side is not much of cooler selection and gc ...

so it only work for poeple that aren't into gaming ...

paper work, video and so on ...

however if cut the side panel with a 9 cm blow hole ..

hhehehe .. then u could add in a nice graphic card without running into heat problem ..much .. but also under the condition of cutting the floppy drive bay away to accomodate the graphic card length ...

other than that.. it's really a lovely case for non serious gamer ...

I would probabaly make some LED light at the front of the case if possible .. still checking the room clearance ..

actually more like continuing with my A05 mod now ... hhaha

true....we also have to take into account the living standard in Singapore and Malaysia. For example , average fresh grad. engineers in Spore is earning S$2500 while here in malaysia is RM2500. Therefore, when Singaporeans go out for shopping, they see the price tag for typical midrange casing such as Lian Lis/Silverstone as S$200~ while here in Malaysia we see the same price tags "digits" for powerlogics/icute for RM200. So, there goes for our choice for better products in the market....so sad....

That psu air cover very nice to use XD. But sometime need to see is it your psu switch blocking there, like mine. I just cut a small area to fit in there.

jasonkwk, make sure 1 thing, I'm also same casing as yours, If look at behind the casing, the air will go to right hand side. Firstly i also thought it can't apply because cable, after i look awhile then only know i apply wrong side. For my case is althought i apply right side, but the PSU switch is blocking there, so i cut off abit area then only can apply.

last time i brought my laptop to overseas cos worry of carrying too much... hahaha, but then later i found out that they have extremely cheap, high end, quality, and very quiet CPU (w/o monitor, keyboard) selling in those hypermarket!! Do look out for those....
In the end, i end up purchasing another new PC there....tongue.gif ....
From my experience, the components there are expensive but they do have very special online promos once in awhile...

Edited : I bought my CPU from this shop ---> LiDL. It's a convenient store but they do sell CPU once in a while and it's damn good system as they list down the internal components in details. The shop is everywhere, even in smaller towns. Check out the website from time to time. But you need to line up early at 7+am (shop opens at 8am there) to grab it. They have very limited stock each time for each outlet.

I am using V1200. I saw all of them are in black color. No bling bling fan.

doom, do you know?

I am thinking to switch all of them (4 units) into Vizo Startlet UV Led fan. Do you think worth the spending?

Changing all those to VIZO will add some bling bling for sure ... and some more airflow .. in the same time more noise ..

It depend of ur tolerant level with noise .. I can't live with either stock LL fan nor VIZO ... just too loud for me since I run my PC in AC room in silent mode..

I would suggest to grab some Panaflo fan if possible or there's any luck on 2nd hand Nortua fan..

My experience with all these fans comes to a conclusion .. Nortua the best for silent yet with strong airflow..

Right now, the stock Lian Li fan still ok to me.

I guess not much different compare to Vizo fan (noise). I think I will try one unit and see.

Noctua is too expensive to me. more more no bling bling (UV LED). Thanks.

i believe the cover is use to provide "sound proof" to your PSU, but the way i see it, the cover giving hard time to install on normal situation - meaning, if only we have L-shape power cable connector tongue.gif, or else, we have to mod it to make way for the cable icon_idea.gif

jasonkwk No need get that L-shape power connector, that is not your problem there.
I have tell that, when u c behind at the power box there, the air is coming out from your right hand side mean >

[ power cable] [ switch] ----------> air .

after apply the cover didn't cover the power cable area, you just need to comfirm that is it the switch is blocking you when after u apply it.

OMG... You are using same powerbox with me..... You should cut out abit area.

If needed i take picture for you. When you apply the cover pls don't turn on the pc because if the switch blocking, it will switch off when u apply it because of blocking.

Rejoining the Ah Lian club after such a long time....

Have already migrated from the Akasa Eclipse62 to .... PC-A05B tongue.gif

Downsizing ... boh pien.

Some thoughts about the PC-A05B

Pros:
- Sexy giler wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif
- Good cooling for CPU. Running my Ultra 120 fanless now
- Relatively cheap
- Very quiet after swapping the stock fans with Scythe S-Flex
- Thin panels but no vibration thanks to those plastic stubs and those thin metal bouncing thingy (don't know what you call it) that holds the sidepanels.
- Did I say it's SEXAAAAYYYY?

Cons:
- The side panel is really ridiculously thin. I think 0.8mm alu. Lian Li these days really cost down sad.gif
- Gets very toasty for the VGA. Oven in disguise.
- HDD's gets very toasty as hot air is exhaust out via the HDD's.
- Front exhaust are quite restricted hence another exhaust is needed to rid the hot air fast enough... something like a blower or Lian Li's patent fan

Tidbits:
- At default, the case is running positive air pressure
- Front panel are 1.2mm alu

Edited to reflect recent discoveries.

Isn't there a intake vent right next to the VGA area?

I got my S-flex's from NSX_MY... Taipei selling around RM65.

Right now playing with some ducting to improve the CPU temps.... at stock it hits 81C on TAT which is a lil too toasty tongue.gif

Probably will get the side fan next week for the vga lor.

Edit:

Some findings...

- Adding a duct (non-airtight.. no camera now) to direct air from rear intake to heatsink gives about 5-6C reduction in TAT load temps.
- The PC-A05 by itself is positive air pressure. It could use another exhaust somewhere.

Got back the camera so it's pic time.

1) Some prerequisite frontal... so sexy wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

user posted image

2) The biggest sell point (for me at least) and also the biggest issue is the black box look. This means that while the rear intake is pretty good, its front exhaust is quite seriously restrictive and could use all the help it can get. While some folks on the web tape the gap between the empty 3" and 5" bay covers to prevent the hot air from recycling inside.... you can also use the packing styro foam instead. It's free.... it's easy to work with.. it takes just 5 seconds.

user posted image

3) Here you see the gaps filled.

user posted image

4) The ugly side. I love my Seasonic S12 to death but the damn cables are just crazy

user posted image

5) The obligatory full monty shot. I used a cheapo evercool blower as a stop gap measure to take care of the exhaust problem. This translate to a 8C reduction in VGA temps. Also my ghetto duct fashion from a plastic folder file from rear intake to the now fanless Ultra 120 --> Duct vs no duct = 6C reduction in TAT load temps.

user posted image

Edit: Madman... the Akasa have to sit in basement until find new owner lor. When you wanna come to Taipei?

nice cable management job thumbup.gif, from what i see, the CPU area indeed in good air circulation, how about the GPU area? looks alike traped? unsure.gif

I was chatting with NSX_MY about the very same topic....

The cons of the PC-A05B is that the vga area is .... an oven in disguise.

So definately have to find some sort of exhaust for that area.. either side panel fan like Doom or at least a blower.

hmm.gif, Doom's right, about the restrictive holes, err about the BS-03, is the fan blowing to the card area or blowing outwards? or can be switched? unsure.gif...

Yah ... I'm back.. .

this is the whole scenario ..

BS-03 can be used either for exhaust or intake air under the condition the graphic card isn't using blower type that exhaust to the rear side of the case such as 8800GST, GTX, Ultra and 2900XT..

the hot air would be suck back to the case by the side patent fan if it's configured to intake ..

If it's adjusted to exhaust, it doesn't do much good coz the vent holes are too restrictive for air to exhaust .. beside there's already lack of air at the gc zone .. so what's the point of having another exhaust fan.

As for BS-02 .. it only works when there's vent holes at the side panel as that's where the case fan could draw air from.

If it's configured to intake it would cool off the gc very much by 5c for core and all the memory and capasistor as well. This is under the condition the gc is using blower type of cooler that exhaust at the end of the case so that hot air could be pushed out from the case. However it leads to dust accumulation.

Natural convection... hot air rises mar.

Basically, if use long vga card and full complement of HDD's... this means the exhaust area (marked A) is very restricted.

Some air (marked B) will from the rear intake will still be pulled up due to the VGA fan pulling it in but when it's exhausted....I think it'll sorta get stuck on top (marked C) . My top panel does feel kinda warm

Anyway, I won't be using a BS-02 side panel fan cos I don't wanna ruin the black box look tongue.gif

But I do agree.... need another fan on top be it intake or exhaust. ( Intake will cool VGA by the air's velocity while exhaust should ease the case temps)

that's the only issue .. to get the gc zone there must be two fans one intake while another exhaust ...

that's why those that using blower type of cooler found on 8800Series and 2900XT is recommended to use a top or side fan as intake and let the card do the exhausting hot air through it's own cooler ..

as for those that aren't using the type of the cooler that I mentioned, one intake and one exhaust fan is definitely needed to effectively cooling the gc zone .... intake to cool the card while exhaust to take out the hot air ..

Why a 6000+ and mobo upgrade? spend all on casing better right? tongue.gif

Back to your question.. how do you define good casing first?

I just ordered the BS-03... will take a couple of days to arrive.

I'm using a 7800GTX so it's blowing the other way round... gonna experiment with ultra positive case pressure. Set the BS-03 as blow..hehehehe...
and also some invisible mods to the front bezel which will have minimal effect

In that case.... PC-A16.

Very flexible... can throw in shit loads of fans...cables can go from the edge of the mobo to behind the bay drives.

The cons is that it is very open so its not accoustically sealed.

I'm not sure either how does a 7900GTX cooler will works since it blows toward both directions ...

so u could try to mount the fan of BS-03 both intake and exhaust and see any different in temperature..

@temptation1314
PC-A16 is standard ATX size ..

It has lots of ventilation holes on the CD-ROM bezel ..

that's why sniper refers it as very open ...

The restriction is not just the holes at the back but also the small gap for the fan to move air inside the duct itself. hmm.gif

Oredi ordered the BS03 might as well try lor. U'll be surprised that teh BS03 actually moves a decent amount of air as it is. Even the older style that used the blower fan moves a decent amount of air.

ultra positive air pressure sometime work negatively, beware of that........ u need to make sure that the air exhausted fast enough to get rid of hot air within, if not it will just keep on circulating only.......

speaking or a70 i would love to get that too............ wander if can do reverse ATX on that too.............

Yeah.. thought of that too. Ever since my first rig, I've always been a negative pressure person but I think in such confined space...have to give positive pressure a shot. Brute force approach to cooling.

The main challenge is there's no real way of greatly improving the exhaust without ruining the overall look of the case.

So far I thought of the following..

1) Do up a conical diffuser inside the front bezel to smoothen the air coming from the front exhaust... should help with resonance/accoustics too. Or just a piece of Paxmate so it doesn't sound like air hitting bare metal.

2) Instead of using the 5" and 3" bezel clips... chop them off and mount the empty bezel cover onto the front panel instead. And do a divider on the inner part of the front panel to prevent exhaust fan from entering the case via the empty drives on top.

Even if the above works... the results should be minimal at best hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

By the way, have you tried reversing the front exhaust fan? Set to intake instead.

I discovered another problem now.. the darn thing is pulling hot air over my pron collection HDDs.

Without aircon, the interior case free air temps are around 42C idle!!!!

btw back to topic, it a good idea to use difuser, but the space is quite limited, hard to get it workout........

just an idea while looking at dooms, may be u can make side panel or top panel mod....... just a series of small holes may just make the magic works...but u need a clean drill or cut to get it done, in taiwan i believe u can find someone to do it....this guys are good at fabricating aluminum stuff
