I think I found the culprit.

As of the time of this post, I tried the Unifi Air sim in my Huawei P10 and it's 4G+ / LTE-A my download speed is around 60Mbps.

When I had it in my TP-Link MR100 (supports 4G only) the speed is around 5-6Mbps on average.

Luckily I didn't get the contract with Modem. TM's new modem only supports 4G right?

to me, 4g/4g+ is more like a name/brand standard. id look at the lte "CAT" level.

it appears that your huawei p10 have lte cat12 (600 mbit dl 100 mbit ul),
while your 4g modem rm100 only lte cat4 i believe, as it is rated 150 mbit dl 50 mbit ul)

and of course, the rated speed does not always reflect in real world use.

the modem provided by previously was huawei b618 which support cat11 (600 dl 50 ul)

now i believe tm provide huawei b818 which is cat19, rated at 1gbit+ (cant seems to find real value on the net), surpass most modem out there.

Support for band 38 and band 40. Not support for band 5... Still can use for unifi air but double check your coverage location.

Thank you very much. Already check, just about 10meter outside blue cover. I am thinking want to try or not. I got MR200 modem.

Need some help from all the sifus here before deciding if I should subscribe to unifi air.
I got a unifi bebas and plugged into huawei B818 to test. Sometimes the upload rate can go up to 8Mbps, but sometimes drop till 300Kbps.
Is there any way I could tweak the router to have a more consistent rate?
With this test results, should I continue to get a Unifi Air with the hopes of getting a better connection or I should just look for other alternative such as Maxis or Digi?

UniFi Air is ok as long as your location has decent line of sight to the cell tower. You can use cellmapper.net to check the location and direction of towers relative to your location.

UniFi Air is not the same as UniFi Bebas. It does not use Band 5. Band 5 is meant for the GSM component (i.e. phone). UniFi Air only works on Band 40 - not sure about 38. The best way to describe this is, mobile data is based on 4G-FDD while UniFi Air, which is Webe which is P1 WiMax, is using 4G-TDD.

For Modem, difference between 4G and 4G+ is Carrier Aggregation. To get 4G+ speeds, you need a minimum Cat.6 LTE modem. In bad or less than good coverage areas, not sure why, but Cat.6 modems will lead to significant improvement in speeds.

UniFi Air's biggest problem is upload speed which is not good. It is sufficient for a full day Zoom Group meeting - so not too bad.

UniFi Air is better than Maxis WiFi Go as 1) It does not have the 300GB fair usage policy, 2) It does not throttle based on time of day, 3) Torrent works, 4) Its much cheaper.

Maxis WiFi Go is better on coverage, upload speed, and higher peak download - if you have mission critical tasks that require strong internet, Maxis WiFi Go is safer bet.

Neither are good if you have multiple users.

The killer feature to look out for when buying 4G/5G routers is the ability to manually "Lock Bands/Select Bands".

So far Huawei routers are known for this convenient feature which makes them VERY popular. The other brands you either need to find 3rd party apps such as DC Unlocker to tweak your modem which voids its warranty with high chances of bricking it.

Just got Unifi Bebas. My area is outside of the blue 4G coverage cloud in the Coverage Map on the Unifi Air page. Using 4G CAT 4 Wireless Modem, and I get around 2MB DL/UL per Speedtest to Webe Server in PJ. Otherwise, Youtube buffering 480p is pretty consistent.

Anyone can comment if it would be worth upgrading to Unifi Air? Would I get better speeds doing so?
