General guidelines when applying for personal loans:
1. Your commitment before you get your personal loan should be less than 70% of your gross salary. (its a rule by BNM)
2. Most banks requires you to have at least 1 year secured or unsecured loan. ( means: credit card, personal loan, car loan, housing loan at least 1 year)
3. Most banks requires minimum salary of 1.5-2k (including fixed allowanace. OT's are not taken into consideration.
4. mostly below 55-65 years old (varies between banks)
5. CCRIS, Your current month payment should not be delayed by 2 months or more. If its 3 months delay, most probably your application will be rejected. The more payment you delay ( months) the less chances you have. Best is 0/1
6. CTOS. IF you're blacklisted by any company, banks. If you've already made settlement. Do get the company to issue you a letter stating that you've already made the payment.
7. Credit card outstanding the lesser the better. Means, your card A + card B + card C + card D, plus together all the limit. If your outstanding is 50% or lesser, it'll help your application a lot.
8. Commitments over income ratio. The lesser your commitment, or the higher your income, the higher is your chances.
9. DO NOT APPLY TO MULTIPLE BANKS at once. If you apply to Bank A, you can try to apply to Bank B also. But try to avoid applying to Bank C. Keep it at a maximum of 2 banks. Unless the result of bank A is already Out. If bank A status is still pending, try to wait for the result before applying to Bank C.
10. Usually banks offer up to 4-5 times your salary. But if your commitment is low, you can try for 6-8 times. Sometimes, it gets approved.
11. Prompt case. Most banks can use credit card, and some uses mortgage to estimate your income. A high credit card limit can be used to reflect a higher income. For example, if your basic is RM2000, but if your credit card limit is RM12000. Your income reflected in prompt is RM4000.
The formula : For most banks ( may varies )
RM5-RM10k : income reflected credit card limit divide by 2.5
RM10k-30k : income reflected credit card limit divide by 3
RM30k and above: income reflected credit card limit divided by 4
If you're a clerk, and your have a RM100k credit card, prompt will not work for you. The credit side will not believe that your income will be RM25k per month, and will call up your HR to verify it.
12. If you have loan restructure (change to term loan, because unable to pay up credit card) your application will be rejected also. If settled, produce a letter from that bank
13. If you're a Gov servent. Please go for koperasi loan. The rate is 4.99% , no proccessing fee. Can go up to RM200k and 20 years tenure. A few banks still offer koperasi loan.
14. Some banks have caps for businessman / self employed. Alliance bank RM50k.
15. Alliance Bank has the lowest Ploan rate now. 8.88% per annum for normal rate, 6.99% cross-sale department ( pre-approved )
16. Sometimes shits happens, believe me, your application might have delays for stupid reasons, but be patient, because I'm sure your sales staff is trying his/her best to help you. (he wants his commision too right?

)
Most customers loan are rejected because:
1. commitment more than 70% of income (prompt and actual) - 2nd most common
2. CCRIS (payment not good) - very very common
3. loan restructure
Solutions:
1. CCRIS - try to pay up on time. ( U can retry your application every 3 months, go for banks that dont charge you any processing fee, EG: Alliance Bank )
2. CTOS - Get a letter if you already settled
3. Commitment too high. (slowly settle your credit card outstandings),Or try to extend your credit card limit(to reflect a higher income), then try again.
