QUOTE(wankongyew @ Jun 19 2009, 07:02 PM) Mind letting us know what percentage of your net worth that constitutes? I could match that if I wanted to, but it would be like 95% of my net worth and the risk would scare me so much I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Also, with your huge stake in the REITs, I'm sure everyone here would appreciate it if you gave a warning if you ever decide to unload it. that constitute 66% of my nett worth or 2/3

QUOTE(Neo18 @ Jun 22 2009, 01:42 PM) that constitute 66% of my nett worth or 2/3 Ouch, two-thirds is too much for me to risk in a single asset class. Personally, I think I'll only dare to put at most one-third of my net worth in REITs, with the rest in unit trust funds, bonds, actual property of my own etc. But more power to you for your bravery!

I've been thinking... if REITs can pay out a high portion of their earnings, then why can't KLCCP also do the same? KLCCP dividend's yield is so pathetic. Does any1 know why?

Does any1 know why? If i'm not mistaken, REITs have to distrubute about 98-99% of its earning to be exempted from tax, better check the REIT listing guidance and other materials. In my opinion, REITs and companies are different, companies need cash for working capital and run its business while REIT doesnt need cash to run its business, it only needs cash to buy more properties for investment purposes. I feel its like a hybrid of typical developer & REIT i like KLCCP too.

Does any1 know why? Buying REITs is just like you owning a property and rent it out, because that is their business model. KLCCP as assambuffet mentioned, is a property developer. They do not buy a property and hold them for passive income. They need the cashflow for their future development projects.

QUOTE(Jordy @ Jun 10 2009, 06:10 PM) TWRREIR's biggest shareholder is HLG if I am not mistaken. So, if they decided to move out of the building, it should mean that they have secured a new tenant. You could check the archived news from Bursa's website for the information. Hi all, 3-July-09, There is an interview with CEO & CFO of GLM and their insights on Tower REIT. Follow this link --> http://www.horizon.my/2009/07/tower-reit-m...a-prime-office/"For Menara HLA, Hong Leong Assurance Bhd’s front office will be moving to their newly purchased building in PJ City along the Federal Highway by the end of the year. We have appointed a leading marketing agent to source for a new tenant for us." Seems Tower REIT still haven't secure new tenant. Their Price/NAV (63%) is the lowest among REIT. Is it good to collect for long term consider can buy now at big discount to NAV? Appreciate your comments. Thanks!

REIT prices have been appreciating bit by bit these past couple of weeks, even while the rest of the market has been mostly motionless. I'm quite annoyed because I've been wanting to build up my stake in them. I suppose all of the news analysis that the recent rules changes will benefit REITs the most hasn't helped.

REITS are generally low beta stocks meaning they don't fluctuate very much so when market is diving, most traders will transfer to REIT. The best time to accumulate is after dividend. For me, i am as long as it is about the range of my average, i will accumulate. The awareness for REIT is generally increasing with trading houses like OSK and RHB conducting seminars for them. Hopefully this will result is more trading volume.

Yuh, Sunway City and CapitaLand Ltd of Singapores will seek listing on Bursa Malaysia in the next few quarters..... Backed by RM3.7bil worth of assets, SunCity Reit will possibly be the largest reit in the country whereas CapitaLand initial asset size will be RM2bil. The proposed listing of the two Reits was initially planned for this year but had to be deferred due to the weak stock market conditions following the global financial crisis. Source from StarBiz, yesterday. So keep some funds for those that likes reits including me lo...........
