MS just need to get & release Idolmaster as Xbox exclusive and they'll have no issues selling it in Japan like X360 era tongue.gif

Just for my own clarification, PS5 utilises VRR instead of Freesync right?

No, it's a customized NVME SSD using the the M.2 slot, you can swap out that original SSD with your own NVME SSD, similar on PS4 with sata HDDs

unlike PS4 sata HDDs, where you can reuse anywhere else, it's unlikely our PC will recognize the original PS5 NVME SSD due to it's customized firmware

Where is the source of this info that Sony's internal SSD is installed on the only expandable storage slot on PS5 ?

Can you link the source? As far as i know the original SSD that comes with the PS5 is soldered on, and there is a M.2 Slot for expansion.

That’s what I thought too.
Several articles quoted a m.2 slot for expansion.
https://www.vg247.com/2020/03/18/ps5-expand...age-usb-m2-ssd/

Based on how they word it, it should be an additional slot. Not the same slot.

my bad, I jumped to conclusion based on few articles only

after watching thru original Mark's 1 hour presentation again, it seems the 825Gb is soldered on, with an M.2 slot for expansion

apologies notworthy.gif

but using an expandable M.2 slot will create another issue, most M.2 SSD today aren't as fast as the built in one

IMO if you installed an uncertified one, it might still work, but you won't be able to get the performance similar to the internal SSD, so there could be another round of file juggling between the 2 storage for best performance? hmm.gif

Samsung just released 980 Pro. Although it has not been whitelisted yet, the speeds are faster than the internal PS5 drive, and it is highly likely it will be whitelisted. Pricing is also similar to the Xbox expandable drive. The PS5 storage expansion implementation is way better IMO. When i sell off my PS5 eventually, at least i still can reused any M.2 drives i bought, instead of being stuck with proprietary drives

They have not confirmed this yet. HDMI VRR is very likely supported. Freesync though.... rolleyes.gif

Just gotta be careful that most hdmi extractor do not support HDMI 2.1. Some might not even support HDMI CEC.

I'm an optical wireless headset player, my existing headset is compatible with both PS4, PC & XB1 via optical
need to save up enough for the next gen headset also, seems I won't be able to find a wireless headset that's compatible with both PS5 & XBsX sad.gif
guess next gen gotta wait a little longer for me

Yea, but then again, most people would connect the PS5 to TV via HDMI, and let the TV output optical audio if necessary. If your TV does not have optical out, i doubt HDMI 2.1 would be part of your worries.

Wonder what's wrong with Sony this time round, it's less than one & half month before official launch, yet we still have very minimal info on the console itself

How is the UI gonna look like?
Where's the teardown?
What's the performance of current gen games on it like?
etc...

While the other camp is already overloaded with those info early on. hmm.gif

Oh yeah, the swapping of the O, X button for cancel & confirm doesn't sit well with their home base fans, most fans already flipping tables
Will Sony make an U-turn decision on this?

For me, I actually welcome this move, for us the "inter-region" gamers have been tortured in that XO purgatory hell since PS1 era doh.gif
