There a few other things which I’m hoping for.
1. Backwards compatibility with PS4 accessories. Including the dual shock 4. I’ve several controllers/joysticks, for them to be obsolete is quite a waste of money.

2. Support for external HDD. I hope they won’t remove this feature as existing PS4 has it. This is important as I doubt there will be a cheap 2TB High speed ssd model.

3. Same PS+ subscription. It’ll be pretty shitty if PS5 requires a higher end subscription model.

4. noise level. My 2 ps4, OG and the pro is nearly as loud as my vacuum cleaner. I hope this can be as quiet as the Xbox one S/X.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Apr 18 2019, 01:27 PM)
1. Doubt so, all this while DS aren't backward compatible at all, except the wand, so I think it will be the same with DS5, don't forget it's Sony, they'll be capitalizing on the selling the new accessories like DS5 kau-kau laugh.gif
But I'm hoping for longer batt life, DS4 has the poorest batt life in all 3 current gen consoles
I hop they'll remove some of the "useless" feature of DS4, like the mini speaker and the touch pad (hardly any games utilized them anymore), but since they are going for backward compatible, guess they'll be staying

2. External HDD support should be still there, like you said, no way they gonna throw in a big capacity high speed SSD

3. Should still the same, 2 PS4 games & 2 PS5 games as monthly IGC perhaps?

4. New Pro is quieter, it's more of their own manufacturing issue, my Pro's CPU was found without full thermal paste (inferior paste also) coverage, I reapplied and it's not as loud as before.
*
For number 1, well... I can only hope. It’s certainly something they can implement but probably chose not to due to greed.
DS4 is fully compatible with PS3 so I don’t see why it can’t be compatible with ps5 to play certain games.
Other than the wand, the pulse headset is supported as well if I’m not mistaken.

For number 4, im hoping for Xbox level of noise though. Which is virtually silent.

i think later, all games will be sold as DIGITIZED version only.
seeing that internet technology is improving day by day.

frankly, i prefer digital rather than disc.

I prefer digital too.
But there has been cases where Sony has banned a console, PSN account and all your games.
One guy was caught trolling/talking trash online, so they banned him and all his digital games.

Let’s say you’ve been using some glitch to benefit in an online multiplayer game, that technically gives Sony the right to ban your own account and any digital games tied to it.

“You’ve 2 years PS+ subs and more than 2k worth of games in your account? Too bad. They’re gone now. You should not have trolled/cheated.”

I once have my account suspended because of some issues with PayPal. It was for an add on worth less than 10 bucks.
Due to that, I wasn’t able to access my entire library and play online.
It was settled only after a week.

Sony can remove your access to your digital games/ban your account for many reasons. Sharing an account with your brother? They can technically ban you for that too.

That’s good. No reason to wait then.

Feels like sony is playing catch up games like ps3 time where they pathetically failed
*
Still PS3 was better than the xbox360.
Because of the red ring of death.

Which bring us to the next generation.
Heat management is critical. And Microsoft seems to be doing very well on that end with the X-SeX.
I hope the PS5 will not overheat/loud fans.

As expected.
Not all PS4 games are compatible at launch.

PS5 would be slightly weaker than the X-SeX. Just like the XoneX and the PS4 pro. Not surprising there. So it probably can’t hit 4k 60fps consistently.

However my concerns would be the variable speed and the heat management. How much it’ll throttle highly depends on that.

Let’s see how this goes. This confirms that I won’t be the very early adopter.

With storage being expensive and games file size getting larger, I hope PSN don’t throttle speeds like what they do with the PS4.

they do?

i have very less digital copies, thus didn't realize this.

Yeap. I’ve about 500mbps download speed.
But my download rate is always way slower.
About 20-50mbps via a wired connection.

Same network with the Xbox one shows about 150-300mbps speeds.

QUOTE(shinjite @ Mar 21 2020, 10:56 AM)
I would say in real world, the difference will be more than 2 Tflops bcs the 2.23Ghz Sony advertised is the peak which is not sustainable unlike Xbox Series X's locked 1.825Ghz. So actual gaming the PS5 could be anywhere between 9 Tflops to 10.3 Tflops depending on load. So yeah, don't expect 10.3 at all
*
Difference in performance shouldn’t be as big as PS4pro vs XboxX. And most of us still preferred Sony’s console.

However. What’s worrying is the heat management. Unsustained peak might be due to this.
If the console has to constantly throttle due to heat management, there might be mid/long term overheating issues.
My OGPS4 and PS4 pro first batch had really loud fans. I don’t want another console like this.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 25 2020, 02:26 AM)
Lol guys....

PS5's clockspeeds aren't judged by thermal limits, it's tied to POWER limit. This means that all a dev gotta do is fit their game within the power limit to hit the clock rate they want and that's all they gotta worry about.

Example; if the PS5's TDP is 150w and the max allowed for the GPU is 130w to hit 2.23ghz, all the developer has gotta do is make their game run within that power limit. If it can't, they just need to lower the chosen power limit (available through the PS5's SDK toolset) to bring down the clockspeeds. The TDP and clockspeeds co-relation is NOT linear however, minus 10watts does not equal minus 100mhz. From what Cerny says, power to clockspeeds relation is logarithmic.

In theory this means that thermals will always be under control and no matter how hot the PS5 runs (under thermal limits of course since ambient temps will still matter), all PS5 games will perform the same way.

What's the downside to power limits being the factor to clockspeeds? Well, Sony can't put the same trash PSUs they've been putting their consoles for the last 20 years that's what. They actually need to put PSUs with strong 12v rails, one with sufficiently more amps than needed for headroom. It also means that they can't cheese with cheaping out on PSUs anymore like they've always done.
*
And what affects the TDP / (power limit) that the PS5 can use?
The effectiveness of the cooling system in PS5.

@bolded
Sure, water is wet too no?

Because Sony would deliberately create a cooling system that isn't capable of handling 150w or whatever the TDP is they've decided for the PS5 so that NO ONE would ever hit 2.23ghz right?
*
Even you know that the cooling system is critical to ensure the PS5 can handle such TDP at a sustained rate.

The fact that it’s not able to hit 2.23ghz sustained might be because of the cooling system limitations. It’s way easier to design a cooling for a variable rate than a sustained one.

looking at this pic..now it doesn't look that bad
really? usb c not for charging ?

is there any advantage using double A batteries nowadays?
i remember last time my xbox 360 had this battery issue that always make the controller disconnect..need to put paper or something ..quite annoying
*
The dual sense controller should come with a non removable rechargeable battery.

Xbox SX controller will work with AA batteries.
With the rechargeable pack being an additional accessory just like current Xbox one controllers.

According to rumors, Dualshock 4 is compatible with PS5.

I'm guessing Dualshock 5 / Dualsense should have a better battery than the dualshock 4, just from the fact it doesn't have a large LED light bar.
Though having said that, we will still not see XBOX1 or Switch Pro controller battery life level.

This really isn't anything new.
How many PS4 exclusive are also released with the PS3?

Unchartered 4?
Bloodborne?
Spiderman?
GOW?
Horizon Zero Dawn?

I think the only exclusive games which was released on both consoles are Persona 5 and Little Big Planet 3.

What i meant is no need to release exclusive backward la.. at least wat u have with ps4 can continue play on ps5 after u buy ps5, isnt it convenient? Microsoft is doing that and enhanced the experience lagi.
*
I was referring to your reply on PS5 exclusives running on PS4.

It’s pretty much a given that a good number of PS4 games will work with the PS5.

Did they say there are no backwards compatibility?
Seems like you would be able to play a good amount of PS4 games on the PS5.

Not all have backwards compatibilty, summore after july punya game only they mandates developer their game must be ready for ps5. How about before july? Cos like tat sony can milk u again, come out definitive edition last of us part 2 1 yr later cos tis game release june2020. Conlanfirm oledi la.
*
Not all games being compatible is kinda to be expected though.
Not even 50% of Xbox 360 games are compatible with Xbox one now. And when the Xbox one was initially released, the number of games was way lesser.

I’m confident Sony will try having most AAA PS4 game titles to work on the PS5. It might not be at launch, but they’ll slowly increase the number.

Need to know the price for both the versions and the date.

I’m leaning more towards the digital edition.
1. I’m sure it’ll be significantly cheaper. Perhaps by USD100? I estimate digital version to be USD 499. While the full version is USD 599.
2. More symmetrical design
3. 90% of my games are digital anyway.

For game shops, their revenue for physical disc is going to fall.

But the bad thing about digital is, once you buy it you can't trade it after finishing the game.... every game must buy in full price or wait for sale....
*
Yeap.
Except I really dislike the hassle of selling the games.
Digital also enables me to play at my home and my parent’s home without needing to bring the discs along.

I don’t buy full price for most games though.
I don’t mind waiting a couple of months or even a year for a sale.
